I really do despair at all the "wets" on this site who are happy to appease the likes of Islam4UK. No doubt if they were around in the 1930s they would have said similar things about Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler's beliefs.

The difference being that the number of people who would support Sharia law becoming part of the British legal system isn't even close to a significant proportion of the population.

It really does amuse me that at least two of the people who are so vehemently opposed to this march taking place are also those who defend the right of the BNP to incite hatred by taking the rather lame-ass position that they are a "legitimate" political party.....

Well, my view is simple, if Griffin is allowed free speech than so is Choudury, it's that simple.... You wanna change the law, then it has to apply to BOTH, not just Extremist Muslims..... And, come off it, what's the fuss about anyway...? We're essentially talking about an Anti-War demo here, and frankly if was Stop The War Coalition doing this and not "nasty Muslims" there wouldn't be HALF as much fuss made about it, nor would there be any fuss at all made about it if exactly the same demo took place in London or Manchester.... And frankly I DO think that some sort of demos should take place outside army barracks or army recruitment places anyway, at the end of the day, in the 21st Century we dont have a conscripted armies or people forced into military service as we did in the past, people MAKE A CHOICE; and in the face of two conflicts which are extremely unjustified, costly (in terms of resources and human life), and if not downright ILLEGAL in the case of Iraq, then I think that people have to be called on the choices they make, it's essentially not that much different to protests outside abortion clinics, so long as it's peaceful, what's the big deal....? At the end of the day, people can LEAVE the army if they so wish, my cousin did, because he felt the war was wrong and that he'd been lied to, if enough soldiers quit the forces in protest over this, well, I think we all know what the potential could be for the Govt..... So, while I may have sympathy for individual soldiers caught up in a bad situation, at the end of the day, the INSTITUTION of the Armed Forces can go fornicate itself, it has to be held up as accountable to the People as much as any other branch of the State, the Police are accountable to the British Public (well, in theory...), so I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why the Armed Forces should not be so as well to the same degree, I dont believe it should have some "sainted" position where criticism and scrutiny is somehow not allowed.....

I think Choudury is pretty clever actually, he doesn't even need to HAVE the demo, he's got all the publicity he needs for his cause because like the idiots we are, we get all hot under the collar about it and splash it across the front pages instead of just sitting back and letting it go ahead.. Or not, which is the more likely of the two... Frankly, I think he only planned this thing to see what sort of reaction he'd get, there was no actual FORMAL application made for a march even put to the local council before this hit the Press.... The guy's a big mouth, but frankly, I dont consider him any worse than Nick Griffin....

I think certain people on this thread, and the Right Wing fascist Media, need to get a grip frankly...... <_< The likes of Islam4UK are NEVER gonna be in a position where they can really affect anything... TWO MILLION people marching against war in February 2003 were ignored by our so-called "democratically elected" represenatives, so a small handful of idiots is hardly gonna register.... Unless we are foolish enough to allow them to.... If people just ignored them, they'd go away.....

I've kept quiet so far in this thread but I think it SHOULD GO AHEAD as they have a right to protest peacefully.

Did anyone see the Muslim supposedly "debating" with the dad of a deceased soldier on the ITV news earlier this week? Was either Mon. or Tues. Well the dad was so rude and wouldn't let the guy get a word in. Disgusting as the Muslim was polite and acted with courtesy but wasn't allowed to speak. I think the dad showed himself up, said at the end "nothing to debate then" Next day one paper said he called the Muslim guy names and swore off-camera. Very adult that wasn't it. I've said this before and would say it to that father. No- one forced his son to join the army did they?

Spot on.... They have no influence....

I guess if Islam4UK turned themselves into a "legit" Political Party instead of a Pressure Group, and changed their image a bit, they'd be alright wouldn't they.....?

Seems that wearing a nice suit and tie, sensible shoes and a haircut can pretty much let you get away with a whole multitude of sins..... Just ask Nick Griffin, the NF ditching the skinhead and "bovver boots" and changing their name to BNP worked wonders for them......

I am against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, I would bring the lot of them home tomorrow if I had my way but while they are out there risking life and limb for this country I will support them 100% as should anyone else who considers themselves British, I don't want them there but so long as they are there they command my total respect and admiration

Anyone that attends this march is an enemy of the state though, by allying themselves to this nutjob they are showing they are not true Brits, they are showing that they are prepared to resort to terrorism if they support this man as he is even more extreme than Hamza, they must even be technically committing treason by trying to sabotage a war effort

The BNP are vile but at the same time they are patriots who are 100% committed to this country and are 100% loyal to this country even if I don't agree with how they go about it

So...? Adolf Hitler was 100% "committed" to Germany, Slobodan Milosovic was 100% "committed" to the Serbian people........ I'd rather have a slightly "disloyal" humanitarian looking out for our best interests than some fanatical Nationalist loony thanks very much..... "Patriotism is the final refuge of the scoundrel" as a wise man once said..... You can justify a lot of really dodgy sh!"t by dressing it up in "Patriotism" mate..... Six million dead Jews, Gyspsies, Eastern Europeans and Homosexuals for example...... <_< Ethnic Cleansing, another example..... Which is why I put absolutely no stock in it.....

Besides how on Earth can we lecture the Islamic world, or even China or Mugabe, on "freedom of speech" or "democracy" if we dont allow a march we may not necessarily agree with to take place....? I ask the question, would you have the same opinion if it were WHITE, BRITISH people organising this demo......?

Like it or not, if we are really Democratic, then we have to allow this march to take place........ It's not as if the protestors dont actually have a point... When was there a "Memorial Day" for all the dead Iraqis and Afghans we murdered......? Where's the fukkin' Tabloid Press and Simon fukkin' Cowell campaigns to help rebuild the lives of ordinary Iraqis who lost everything after "Shock and Awe".....?

I really hate it when you imply that anyone who actually has a divergent opinion on this issue is "allying themselves with a nutjob"... That's a totally reductive argument, and one which fails to address the fact that the bloke, like his views or not, actually does have a point in this ONE area..... He's actually right when he says that we in the West dont put as much importance on the lives of ordinary Iraqis or Afghans as we do on our "boys" in the Forces, this is surely absolutely UNDENIABLE FACT....

Were the BNP to be holding a march/rally I would similarly be calling for it to be banned as a security risk yes, any march or rally that is going to spread hate should not be allowed whether it black, white or asian

This march if it takes place will result in bloodshed, every white extremist group in this country will think christmas has come early and that is not fair on Wootton Bassett having riots in a peaceful town

My issue is not so much their cause, I am against the war too, my issue more than anything is the location, if they want to hold it in Trafalgar Square then that is different but holding it at a place like this is an act of provocation that will end in rioting and bloodshed as white extremists and muslim extremists clash

Trafalgar Square doesn't have any Army Barracks' though mate..... The point is to be confrontational and "in your face" against the Military as an Institution..... I suppose you think that anti-vivisectionists should only protest in Trafalgar Square and not at, say, Huntingdon Life Sciences...... Same difference mate, and seeing as how you're very much for Animal Rights, then, I think you yourself would have to agree that protests MUST take place outside the vivisectionists' own "front-doors" as it were, so long as protests are non-violent...... So, assuming this, for you to be against this march would be somewhat hypocritical......

If white racists starting riots (as opposed to holding a non-violent counter-demo) is your concern, well, simple innit, if they do, then the cops just start cracking some Nazi heads....

I am supportive of direct action against vivisectionists and also abortion clinics too, I would never condemn direct action taken against those people be it assaults, firebombs or car bombs etc but they are not issues that mean so much to the country at large, they are quite trivial to most people but the military is a different kettle of fish in terms of the passions on the issue in the media and among the general public, protesting outside or even firebombing an abortion clinic or place where animals are cruelly treated is not on the same scale as carrying empty coffins through an area where real coffins are paraded all the time in terms of public emotion

I've read your comment twice just to be sure I hadn't misunderstood. I think you are saying you support attempted or actual murder on an issue which most people regard as trivial (vivisection) but you oppose a peaceful march on an issue most people think is important (war). Have I got it right?

Yes except it won't be a peaceful march

It will be full of wild eyed snarling mostly young radical muslims with faces of hate and banners saying "death to the infidels" etc days after another "infidel" is bought home to his final resting place via the very same town, total lack of respect for this country and the families of the soldiers

I'd support this more if it was against Extremist groups. I don't see how anyone can see it as 'Gods Will'. Primarily Islam is a very peaceful way of life although, as with all religions, it promotes itself as a 'superior' religion, it's just a shame that so few make a bad name for so many.

I agree

Ordinary hard working law abiding muslims (the majority) should be holding a march/rally against the muslim extremists and jihadists that are damaging the reputation of the ordinary hard working muslim

they/we are against the march being held in wooton basset...THAT is the problem, its done as a deliberate act of provocation. or would you support repatriation marches through largely muslim areas?... nah... course not, cos the muslims have more rights then we do in your world <_<, you just want all the hated white english to give up everything and be subseviant to any one from overseas.

Spot on.

Isn't it ironic how Scott was so vehemently opposed to the BNP's existence. Yet he supports the right of some extremist Muslim group to hold views which are actively homophobic; don't tolerate the existence of any religious beliefs other than that of Muslims; preach hates supporting the terrorist acts of 9/11 and 7/7 and think the UK should be governed by Sharia Law instead of the current laws we have in the UK.

 oh the irony, hate the british bnp but supports what is practically the islamic equivelant!

I am supportive of direct action against vivisectionists and also abortion clinics too,

Oh are you against abortion? Despite freely-available abortions now being a part of the British way of life? I thought all true Brits supported the British way of life?

Maybe you should move to the deep south of the United States of America if you so against two important scientific developments that have done so much good for the world so improving life and avoiding untold misery to humanity.

Also I thought you were against overcrowding in the world and in particular in this country, and yet you don't support abortion.

Exactly. I actually laughed out loud when I saw he'd written that.

BA Baracus, if you're going to try to hide your prejudice, then you need to atleast check your argument for contradictions. You can't say people who protest against the war are "traitors" because they're going against British society, yet support abortion being banned. Either all "true Brits" have to follow the government's stances on ALL issues, or they don't have to follow them on any. You don't just get to pick and choose the issues that "true Brits" are allowed to disagree with depending on your personal opinions.

Well if he is such a fan of sharia law abortion being made illegal, given it is never going to happen (again) in this country wouldn't he be better off going to a country where he can live by his beloved sharia law lack of abortion ?

I trust that you will follow your own standards, and so, will start packing up and heading for a state which doesn't permit abortion. I think quite a few of the Islamic countries might fit the bill...
