I just noticed this pattern from the album chart:

03 02 Susan Boyle I Dreamed A Dream

10 05 JLS JLS

12 10 Cheryl Cole 3 Words

25 11 Westlife Where We Are

28 21 Alexandra Burke Overcome

31 12 Leona Lewis Echo

All are Simon Cowell/X-Factor related acts; and all have dropped after Christmas. More proof if any was needed as to how influential Simon Cowell's programmes are in the run up to Christmas. Yet afterwards they all start to fall down the chart.

Not really. There are only really 2 big fallers, the others are pretty standard

So no top 75 until whenever then? Omg at Paulo the power of jools Holland. Gutted for gaga missing the double though

Wow huge drop for Leona and big drop for Westlife...looks like they were bought mostly for xmas presents.

The two biggest drops are the two without a new second single out from the album to help support sales, thats why they have seen a big drop.

+Susan Boyle will probably drop a lot now, i dont personally know anyone who has bought that album!

Would it be too much to hope that Leona's next release will not be a ballad, I would love to bring out an uptempo song.

If they were sensible they'd have done that and gone for 'Outta My Head', a great uptempo pop song and it shows she can do something different. Instead they've gone for 'I Got You' which is good, but nothing she hasn't done before. I doubt it'll make the top 10 or help the album out really. Big mistake...

When will the Avatar song show up? Is it on the album? It sounds good at the end of the movie.

It's a mid-tempo, hopefully they'll release the uptempo next

But leona can't do uptempo?

Outta my Head is a good song and she actually did a dance routine to it when she performed in Hackney, I Got You is just okay. She can do uptempo not sure why Lord Cowell seems to want her to be a young Celine Dion.

Is there any more Florence + The Machine in the top 75 (DDAO, RH(RIU)?)

And has XNRG - Riverside been made chart eligible?

She's already done uptempo when she released Forgive Me, but not many people bought into it. The record company are going to be cautious about it now. I've heard I've Got You, and agree, it's not likely to help the album that much  No. 31 at week 7 is not good at all for Leona, however you look at it.

Good number 1 to start the year of and also a great start for 2010 for black eyed peas. I was surprised to see Paolo return to number 1 in the albums but the album has done very well over allfor him so well done. Im delighted take that have stayed ahead of westlife as it means the live album will chart higher on the year end chart than where we are and im also thrilled to see the brilliant circus album back in the top 30. I was surprised beautiful world wasnt top 40 as it was as high as #24 in the midweeks but its more than likley #41.

Glad TT's studio album is as high as it is - it will definitely have passed the two million mark now (if it hadn't done already during the week).

Glad for Paolo!

Norma

Will up to a new peak I take it :o I never forsaw his hits album doing so well, especially as three of his UK #1's and a #2 are missing from it and could have easily been squeezed in (although would have arguably ruined the musical credibility of the album)
