I think I'll save my energies for Jonathan Ross' campaign to get his all-time favourite song "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols to #1 when he leaves the BBC during the week of the Queen's Jubilee.

Oh God, don't take it personal, because I love Untouchable, but do we really need every month/week a campaign to affect the chart? :(
Won't even tough the Top 40. And people wonder why Girls Aloud fans are dumped with the word loons...:| !

But there'll be enough of them to probably make the lower top 40.

To be fair it was never going to get anywhere near the top 10. And Mr Ross won't succeed either. Campaigns are a bit bleh, whereas Rage at least can be appreciated a bit.

7,000 members?

Juat looked at the sales figures for last week. Lady GaGa 'Telephone' was no. 67 selling 7,171 sales. That's assuming every member actually buys a copy. Even if they bought 2 copies each, 14k wouldn't get you top 20 last week.

As for the planned week for the 'Untouchable' campaign, I predict a low top 40 re-entry. I'll be gobsmacked if 7-8k members will be enough to sell roughly 25k in sales to determine a top 10 placing.

I'm a member, but it needs many more.

It will probably end up top 40 or 30.

Hope i'm wrong, i'd love it to succeed.

Last week will still heavily hit with iTunes gift cards and the like though.

Let's just say I'm confident your statement is going to look naive come July. Especially when you consider Wossy has over 485,000 followers on Twitter; and when you consider who (2 BBC Radio Breakfast DJs with the first name Chris; Zane Lowe; Christian O'Connell; XFM's breakfast DJ more famous for being Heidi Range's other half; Ricky Gervais; Stephen Fry; Radio 5's Richard Bacon; Adam & Joe; Charlie Brooker; Noel Gallagher... to name a handful) have already twittered in the last 48 hours to say this is a great idea so joining forces with the existing Facebook campaign to get a song that was famously banned by the BBC and all other UK TV & Radio broadcasting at the time, and furthermore was effectively disqualified from the UK#1 spot on the week of the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977 (even though it reached #1 in both NME's & the Sounds charts by a comfortable margin, then I personally cannot think of a better campaign.

Following the phenomenal success of the RATM For Xmas No.1 facebook group we've got a corker for you for 2010 and it's got nothing to do with Xmas or Xfactor. The charts were manipulated in June 1977 to prevent God Save The Queen being no.1 as it would have been a major embarrassment to the Queen's silver jubilee celebrations. Let's give another 2 fingered salute to the establishment and give a band who are a national treasure the debut chart topper they deserve. A no.1 in June would need just 10% of the sales of a Xmas no.1 so 50,000 should do it. The official birthday is marked by the ceremony of "Trooping the Colour" on Saturday 12th June 2010. We want the Sex Pistols at no.1 to coincide with this event so download the song between midnight Sunday 30th May and midnight Sat 5th June.

With the official UK record chart for Jubilee week about to be released, the Daily Mirror predicted that "God Save the Queen" would be number one. As it turned out, the record placed second, behind a Rod Stewart single in its fourth week at the top. Many believed that the record had actually qualified for the top spot, but that the chart had been rigged to prevent a spectacle. McLaren later claimed that CBS Records, which was distributing both singles, told him that the Sex Pistols were actually outselling Stewart two to one. In 2002 evidence came available to show that an exceptional directive was issued by the British Phonographic Institute, which oversaw the chart-compiling bureau, to exclude sales from record-company operated shops such as Virgin's for that week only.

And like the RAGE against the X-Factor machine campaign they have time on their side to plan things to perfection.

Roll on Sunday June 6th. Already 250,000+ Facebook followers and rising. :D

To be honest, these campaigns are going to be coming up everywhere because of the success of the Rage campaign, theres an avenged sevenfold one too- but I dont think the public will do the same thing again

I predict a fail for this

Edited by chart wizard

would love it to go top 10.

but voted fail.

although even seeing it in the top 40 again would be nice

I think this campaign is rather sad. What will they do if GA miss the top ten with another song? Another campaign?!?

I think the only reason this campaign exists is a) there's not been any GA music or news for nearly a year now and their fans are bored and B) Untouchable was a great song and considered one of their best by their fans.

If it was something like Long Hot Summer that missed the top 10 I doubt there'd be any campaign cause that was a weak single

If every fan downloads 2 copies theyre in the top 10 for definite, but there will be members that will download none and some will download 20 :) i personally think thew song should have reached #10 when it was first relelased aha

The album version  The single version ripped the living soul out of it and spat it out.

This campaign seems to me very stupid. Wow, such a tragedy that a song didn't make it in top 10 :naughty: .

I hope it flops not because i have something against GA (i like some songs of them, this one i consider very weak), but to stop every fans of some bands to make such campaigns  (when it comes the Westlife one? the Robbie one for a no 1?)
