Ooh, I didn't know if you were familiar with 'October & April'. The Rasmus will probably never have another UK hit as successful as 'In The Shadows' but I really like this song.

I've liked this ever since I first heard it. It's not ground breaking, it's very generic, but I like it. :D

I think Delphic have a strong chance of getting to no. 1 in the album chart next week. If Delphic get there, that might actually help sell 'Doubt' as a single so people might cherry pick the track off the album. 'Doubt' might not be looking set for a top 40 entry in tomorrows chart, but I wouldn't rule out the single climbing.

'Sweet Disposition' was one those anthem tracks that was like a united track - the type of track the vast majority of people liked regardless of musical tastes. Or at least that's how it seemed to me. I think 'Fader' is a great track to be honest. True, it's not got that "something" that made 'Sweet Disposition' so brilliant but it's still great imo.

This is The Saturdays second top 10 hit in my chart after 'Up' which peaked at no. 7 for me and remains - by a country mile - their best song, but this is easily their second best single. Typically, it looks like it could be their first to not make the top 10 yet an atrocity like 'Forever Is Over' can get to no. 2 purely because it's a lead single!!! :mellow:

Maybe you saw the name Beth Ditto and it brought back fond memories of 'Love Long Distance'. :P Actually, 'Cruel Intentions' is a great electro pop song. Another track I hadn't even heard of until I checked out the new releases on YouTube. The video to the SMD track is really odd though. :lol: Yeasayer's song is also great but personally the SMD track appeals to me that little bit more.

 

I thought you liked 'Fireflies'? :o Or is it more a case of you like the song but don't think it's brilliant? As I mentioned in the UK Chart forum, when I first heard the Owl City track (thanks to Unknown Pleasures ;) ), I'd not heard of The Postal Service at that point. It's only since Owl City shot to no. 1 in the US that people have started talking about The Postal Service.

 

There are often weeks when I struggle to write up a new weekly chart because there's bugger all out to even make a small impact on the chart. I think last week was prove of that - usually the first new chart of each year has a massive clearout where this year the clearout happened a week later. I don't restrict myself purely to the UK release schedule. I've also charted big hits from Europe that I really like that have charted in the HET30. What about HURTS? I really like 'Wonderful Life' and is currently looking most lilely to be my next no. 1 single, but that isn't guaranteed. There aren't many songs at the moment from the UK that have grabbed my attention in a "this is definitely going to no. 1" way. Inna and Keri Hilson are only European releases (so far anyways) but I even like them more than the majority of upcoming UK releases.

Me too. By the looks of its popularity on iTunes throughout the week and midweek chart reports it looks like IYAZ could well be the first brand new no. 1 in the UK. Much better than over in Ireland where they have Joe McElderry still no. 1 for his fourth week!!! :drama:

Good to see some other posters appreciate this track. It really is stunning and I adore the subtle synth melody to this track. It's very "Angel City" but that's not a bad thing. I would've liked to have seen this managed to go top 40 after the previous two singles were top 30 hits.

10. it's a shame this completely flopped but it didn't get much if any promotion :( it's not like it's drastically removed from I Remember and that was a fairly big hit here

I live in Czech Republic ^_^ . I like Rasmus they are quite popular here :) I love European music but I'm not into British music so much :blush: I thought you are from some state in EU which does not have own flag on this site (as Czech Rep. :heehee: )

3. It's not like The X Factor 2009 had loads of talented contestants - compared to 2008 anyways. Even the charity single 'You Are Not Alone' spent weeks at no. 1 in Ireland. They're literally obsessed. So much so, why don't Ireland just have their own X Factor so idiots like John & Edward can make a name for themselves there without hogging the limelight in the UK? -_-

 

10. 'Move For Me' didn't get any promotion. In comparison, 'I Remember' got quite a bit of airplay on Radio 1 iirc, so that probably helped. If the song got enough of a plug on Radio 1 and MTV Dance, I don't see why would flop. Obviously it needs the support from radio and TV. Without it, it's a limp #75 smash hit rather than a more impressive top 40 hit.

British artists have usually performed very well in my chart, but the Americans and French (well, David Guetta) completely dominated my personal chart. Looking at your sig, we share a lot of similarities in our Charts of 2009. Only 'Poker Face' was my no. 1 single of 2009 whilst 'I Gotta Feeling' ranked seventh. The only track I didn't really like from your 2009 top 10 was The Fray. Not really into their music and find it all a bit bland and verging on depressing. :lol:

 

I like using the European flag as it links to my sig (the Hitstastic European Top 30). ^_^ My mum is English but my dad is Anglo Indian, my grandmother (on my dad's side of the family) was Italian, and her father (my great-grandfather) was Portuguese so I'm not 100% "English". :lol: It sounds odd and difficult to explain. My dad says I'm Eurasian although I look more like my mum. :lol:
