January 11, 201015 yr Your point being exactly? That nobody else had heard it? My point was about the poster's comment that 'everyone' knew it...
January 11, 201015 yr I was just going to mention this. It was #128 last week as well, so it hasn't just been declared eligible. Wow so not very big success there.

January 11, 201015 yr He didn't actually mean "everyone" you should know. Which was exactly why I commented... :P
January 11, 201015 yr No stopping it in Ireland! It first charted there when it was used in The Sopranos and is now on its 85th week in the Top 50.....
January 12, 201015 yr My point was about the poster's comment that 'everyone' knew it...I agree with you, I don't think it was that well known back then and Journey just never made it in the UK as their type of music was out of fashion in the UK when they tried to make their breathrough. I can remember Journey having a concert broadcast on BBC2 in late 1982 when the label and the group were making their last attempt to make it in the UK. Who's Crying Now nearly made the top 40 in late 1982 around the time the concert was broadcast, Don't Stop Believin' was the B side to that single (I bought that single and for DSB rather than WCN) and had itself been a minor hit earlier in 1982. But apart from being played on the US Top 40 show on Radio 1 the previous year I can't recall hearing the song that much at the time and I used to listen to the radio a lot back then. It seems to be a song that became more popular as an oldie in the 90s and beyond than something that got much airplay at the time.
January 12, 201015 yr Wish it would just disappear, it is just tedious MOR rock that was bettered by the likes of Boston, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, The Cars etc in that era and has just sadly not died a death

January 12, 201015 yr I pity the fool who doesn't appreciate Journey ;) LOL  Just found them dull then still find them dull now, fine for AOR radio stations and Top Gear driving anthems albums but for me just sleep inducing, doesn't compare with the stuff put out in that era by artists I listed above who were Journey-ish

They don't really have anything else in their back catalogue that is attracting anywhere near the same level of interest though at one time it was Who's Crying Now that was probably the better known track due to it appearing on countless compilations in the 80s such as American Heartbeat which was a massive seller in 1984. I agree that Foreigner (in their prime) were better though I'm not sure about REO Speedwagon! The Cars were at one time considered to be new wave in the US though they were never really more than a slightly more quirky AOR band to me. Boston started well but soon faded...
