March 5, 201015 yr They judge their predictions largely based on live viewers, demographic viewings, DVD sales and DVR/Hulu ratings. It's quite accurate normally, although it's looking likely Human Target is going to be cancelled and probably 24 as well (:(). 24 is apparently being offered to other networks, but as the show costs so much, it's probably likely FOX will scrap it, as as far as scripted shows goes they're losing to ABC and CBS in that department, and quite heavily as well.
March 5, 201015 yr Author I tell you now, if One Tree Hill gets cancelled, i will not be pleased with the CW.. AT ALL. This season has had its ups and downs but more ups than anything else. It deserves an 8th season so Mark Schwahn can give it a proper ending. The CW owes it that. Major disappointment that it hasnt been renewed already. One of the most underappreciated shows of the Naughties.
March 5, 201015 yr Hmm i'm not sure whether it will get renewed. The CW did their big pick-ups a few weeks ago, and normally One Tree Hill would have fallen into that catergory but its not thus far. I'd imagine CW will want to wait until it gets nearer to the May Sweeps before making a final decision.

Yeah the shows on a hiatus atm and aint back until April and im sure that if this truely was the series end, Mark Schwahn wouldve have liked some kind of notice so he can finish the series properly. He done that to the executives last year and ive heard that if the CW dont pick it up, SOAPNET have the option to. I have also heard that if it does return on the CW, chances are some cast members will be lost. Hopefully it wont be any main ones. Leyton was a big enough loss as it is....

Fox have been making huge gains on ABC/CBS this season with Bones beating an ep of CSI and Glee getting huge success. Fox has done remarkably better than last year. Hell they won the November Sweeps this year.

Hell they won the November Sweeps this year. They're still losing though. Without American Idol their overall stats would look quite poor. Glee's success has only been really as it's gone on. The show has a huge budget, unless it was gaining in popularity/cult status it has now, then it would probably have been cancelled or offered to another network because of its high production costs. They did the stupidest thing ever moving Fringe to the 9pm timeslot on Thursday (biggest advertsing timeslot of the week) where it gets beaten to a pulp by ABC and CBS.
March 5, 201015 yr Pissed off at Smallville getting renewed when Ugly Betty gets the boot. Agreed. <_<

Most programs would struggle in that time slot going against the Uber heavywieghts. CSI/Grey's have to be two of the biggest shows on Network TV. Fox was always going to struggle against them. They have made inroads on Thurdays. Bones has progressed from 3rd to 2nd in the 8/7c timeslot as the season has gone on. Helped by Flash Forward nose diving and Bones ratings increasing by 4mil as the Seasons gone on. I think Fox suffer from not having many of the biggest shows, but it's the youngest network. With Glee, Fringe, Lie To Me, Bones etc they've got some good quality shows that have cult followings and are doing reasonably well ratings wise. From what i understand reading Hart Hansons tweets Fox are thrilled with Bones' performance this season
March 5, 201015 yr Smallville and UB air on totally different networks though in terms of ratings and demographics. If UB was on The CW, no doubt it'd be renewed in a heartbeat but it's figures aren't good for a 'bigger' network like ABC. Tis a shame though... Personally I think Smallville should scrap seasons 5,6,7&8 as it's actually been making some amazing episodes this year that remind me why I actually enjoyed watching the show in it's early years. I also read that contract issues may prevent One Tree Hill from being renewed... Personally I see it as a goner as The CW has already filled like 6/10 hours for next year and they're bound to try a few new shows as well.

From what i understand reading Hart Hansons tweets Fox are thrilled with Bones' performance this season But that's the whole point, FOX lose massively by not having a BIG show. ABC have Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy and LOST (well, did). CBS have CSI (and all its spinoffs), How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men. FOX have a good set of steady shows (Glee, 24, Bones, Lie To Me) but none of them are real heavyweight shows that will get in the big live ratings and compete against the big, and well established shows already on the air. They've been lacking a big scripted show ever since X-Files. It's just like NBC as well - they've suffered ever since Friends ended. The same could probably happen to ABC and CBS in due course, but who knows really. Personally I just don't really like the FOX network. I think they're very ruthless when it comes to shows, and the president at the moment is an absolute knob.
March 5, 201015 yr Author The CW president Dawn Ostroff has admitted that she is encouraged by the success of One Tree Hill. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ostroff gave hope to Tree Hill fans about the possibility of an eighth season renewal. "We're encouraged. We think [creator]Mark Schwahn has done a great job with the show. The fans are the most loyal and dedicated I think I've ever seen. They have some 1.6 million fans on Facebook." She added: "Too early too tell [about a renewal], but creatively we feel the show is in a really good place." Asked whether One Tree Hill will be competing with Life Unexpected for a slot in the 2010-11 schedule, Ostroff would neither confirm nor deny. :w00t: I pray that it gets renewed. Even if its just mid-season, i just want a PROPER ending for it.
March 6, 201015 yr You gotta love Ostroff and the crazy justifications she uses to skirt over her network's $h!tty viewing figures. '1.6 million fans on Facebook' Classic. :heehee:

Season 7 and 8 are admittedly crap, but Season 9 is by far the worst imo, and its made me hate Clark Kent. Season 5 and 6 were for the most part pretty great, althought the first 4 seasons are unbeatable.

Season 5 and 6 were for the most part pretty great, althought the first 4 seasons are unbeatable. Well I've actually really enjoyed this year so far. I wouldn't go as far as to call it groundbreaking. It's become just as mindless as any sitcom or crime show on tv in that I really don't have to invest a lot of time in trying to follow it as it's become pretty generic but it's still better than the majority of crap on offer from les Americans.
March 9, 201015 yr Supernatural has already been renewed so I don't know why it's in the "likely" category. Smallville back again, it just doesn't seem to end. I am also surprised to see NCIS is still "likely" as season 7 was supposed to be the final season.
March 10, 201015 yr Isn't NCIS the highest rated scripted show over there? It is one of the highest yes. Its just I read that the show's creators were going to make season 7 the last so to see season 8 is 'most likely' was a bit strange.
March 12, 201015 yr Author This made me  Whats wrong with this picture? http://thetvaddict.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/graphs.jpg
