February 9, 201015 yr Who cares? LOL It's no different than a certain artist performing and PROMOTING their song on a show like 'Dancing On Ice' etc... Exactly. Or an artist going into e.g. the Radio 1 Live Lounge and promoting their song there. Or indeed any artist who's song is played on the radio ...
February 9, 201015 yr "If Glee weren't on TV" God, it's a TV show. Songs are secondary. Look at its data in the US: the TV show is a success, its ratings are great. The songs are not so successful. Is it a problem? No, because it's a TV SHOW. "they were just all the other regular artists in chart" You are right - but: all the other artists are singers - these guys are NOT singers - they are actors. (Btw I love It's My Life/Confessions Pt 2, I think it's their best so far. I hope 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' will be also successful)
February 9, 201015 yr You are very bias woth your Glee love. Glee are only very popular, apart from the fact that it's quite funny, because they are on TV. If they weren't, and they were a group they wouldn't have as much success. It's nopt because of the music they are up in the charts, it's because they are on the TV. Oh and yes, it is very different from artists promoting their songs on shows, because Glee have a whole f***ing show!I may well be biased sometimes, but considering they only perform 2 or 3 songs per episode (More per episode in the back 9 though apparenly - which includes a Madonna special *cheap plug* :kink:) I don't see how it is any different really...

February 9, 201015 yr One $h!t, Starstrukk, Hollywood, Blah Blah Blah ALL being pushed down by this rubbish, terrible. And the wonderful news just keeps on coming then, well 'cept for Marina but she's not gonna re-peak is she :(
February 9, 201015 yr One $h!t, Starstrukk, Hollywood, Blah Blah Blah ALL being pushed down by this rubbish, terrible. Oh please, all of those songs (perhaps not Marina) have had very successful runs, peaks and sales already. Actually Blah has climbed into today's midweeks. People like the songs, so people buy the songs, it's that simple. All of this "invading the charts" buisness is just negative spin on success and people acting like drama queens. Also Glee is shown on E4 (it's no ITV is it) so these sales are so great because of the songs quality and the good word of mouth. Not to mention most of these actors have worked in Broadway, so I find it funny your trying to bring their credibilty as singers down. No one thought it would be as big a hit as it has become (the showrunners thought it would be cancelled) and in America Don't Stop Believin' sold, because once again, there was good word of mouth and reception. No one made this with the evil intention to take over the charts, they made it to make a good TV show, the sales of the songs is just a positive knock on effect of that. February 9, 201015 yr Extra Glee TV ratings info: Over on digital channel E4, US import Glee continued to do well, with 1.09 million viewers and a 4.2% share of the multichannel audience in the 9pm hour, and another 281,000 on catchup service E4 +1 an hour later. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/feb/0...aw-and-order-uk
February 9, 201015 yr 1.09m! :o Did that beat the opening episode?! No it got 1.1m! Very close though! :o
February 9, 201015 yr No it got 1.1m! Very close though! :o Very consistent ratings, and matches what some shows get on Channel 4 :heehee: I wonder if next season they will move it to the mothership channel?
February 9, 201015 yr Very consistent ratings, and matches what some shows get on Channel 4 :heehee: I wonder if next season they will move it to the mothership channel?Hopefully not. E4 is perfect for it and I'm sure they won't want to pull the viewers away will they?
February 9, 201015 yr Hopefully not. E4 is perfect for it and I'm sure they won't want to pull the viewers away will they? I agree with you Jonjo, it fits E4 perfectly and has already found it's audience. Also I'm pretty sure Skins got over 1.0m for their first season, but that remained on E4. I was just thinking because of the success of the singles as well as the ratings, and the decline in ratings for their staple US shows Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty, they might want to move it up. I guess there is the argument that because it will be on channel 4 the ratings would increase (but I think it would get swallowed up on the terristoral channels). Also I'm not sure how it works, but if it's on Channel 4 instead of E4 don't advertises have to pay more money? I think that would be probably be the biggest motivation for Channel 4.
