Glee TV Ratings

"US musical comedy melodrama Glee powered to its biggest audience yet on E4 last night, Monday 15 February.

The US import averaged 1.21 million viewers between 9pm and 10pm, a 4.9% share of the audience, according to unofficial overnights.

This was up from 1.09 million the previous week and the previous high, of 1.1 million, who watched its opening episode on E4 on 11 January. Last night's episode, the seventh of its 22-part run, had another 293,000 viewers (1.6%) on E4+1."

They are pretty dire viewing figures. I actually remember (!) back in 1982 when Fame was shown on British TV it managed to hit over 20k audience. Different times & of course originality. Fame Soundtrack managed to sell well over 1k copies.

Besides, Celeb BB which is dying down a little bit had from 5 to 8k... Wouldn't call Glee a massive hit.

Given that its shown on E4, those are very good numbers

It's on Channel 4 too...

Yet again, the fans are making it bigger and it is, sorry.

Those are viewing figures for E4, and they are pretty damn big for that channel. Yet again, immature haters are bringing down the show. Sorry.

Again, your comments have to be everywhere I look.

Doesn't matter if Glee is on E4 or BBC1. In general, Glee isn't as big as it appears to be on this forum.

Put me on ignore then... And the album is set to be #1 in the UK this week, and all of the songs (bar one) have charted in the Top 100. The show is getting top ratings for the channel it's on each week, and yet you don't think it's as big as it seems on here?

Shouldn't all your "k"'s be replaced by "m"'s?

Its been quite obvious for years that none of the non-terrestrial channels (BBC1/BBC2/ITV1/C4/C5) rarely get any more than about 1 million viewers max, so for Glee to get over 1 million consistently on E4 is quite frankly brilliant.

You clearly haven't done your research and/or don't know how to interpret information if you think Glee's audience figures are dire.

I think it's a little overrated, that's it. I dannae think the album will even platinum.

A glee hater obviously

for E4, the ratings are really good, and like it or not- it has been one of the biggest new shows of the year- look at how many chart singles they have had and their album is on course to be number 1

multichannels are very lucky to get over a million, so this is good

Oh for goodness sake, less than 1 in 50 watch Glee then! Does it make sense now? All I wanted to say that I had expected a bigger audience. Regardless what channel is showing the programme....

Considering how many people know the show and like the show, I'm surprised it's not getting more than a million or so viewers. So I tend to agree with MTV79 in that respect. I fully expect the viewing figures to grow and grow though.

It IS getting over a million viewers though :P Last week was the highest, so far! 1.2m (I think) Obviously Word of mouth is growing and more people are getting more and more interested in it :P (And the lowest of the series so far was only 900k (I think). So, to say it's been hyped as an E4 show and E4 seem pretty impressed by the viewing figures (It's smashing most other digital channels out of the water).

You might think it's a little "overrated" but there's no need to deny the success of Glee over here. It's doing EXTREMELY well on E4 (Which it was hyped on, I don't think Channel 4 hype it for when it's shown on that channel) so to still get as big a rating as they do for channel 4 (and to say it's a repeat of E4's episode) then it's HUGE. Glee also taking over the charts should also tell you that people are actually, genuinely interested in the show. (Number 1 in the albums in mid weeks - Haven't they also broken digital sales for an album?)

I completely disagree.

I don't know what planet you are on if you think it is doing badly. It is the most watch multi-channel weekly series on TV at the moment.

Its viewing figures on E4 are far better than the far more hyped Skins which only got 768K on Thursday evening.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a20410...s-skins-ep.html

And it's viewing figures annihilate the far more hyped Lost on Sky http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s10/lost/ne...-in-614000.html.

When you consider (until last night's Eastenders - The Aftermath on BBC3) the record viewing figure for a Multi-Channel was 2.86m back in 2000 for the opening episode of Series 6 of Friends (when Sky poached its exclusitivity from Channel 4 for one series). Then Glee's E4 viewing figures are quite splendid.

Oh for goodness sake, less than 1 in 50 watch Glee then! Does it make sense now? All I wanted to say that I had expected a bigger audience. Regardless what channel is showing the programme....

yes, but remember multichannels scarcely get over 2 million, The highest E4 has ever got is 1.5 million for Skins, and Glee could well break 2 million by the final, plus its trouncing all the other multichannels

I know you may think its bad, but I dont think E4 do

Skins in on series 4, and Lost on series 2943284, so you can't compare them to the opening series of Glee, at least audience-wise it doesn't make much sense. Who knows if Glee will atract as many viewers as those two shows when it gets to its 4th series.
