January 18, 201015 yr Best British Band has always been voted for by the Brits Panel though hasn't it? Or have they moved the goalposts for it this year? Norma Both British Breakthrough and British Single are voted by the public, so it could be 2 Brits for them :( :( :puke2:

January 18, 201015 yr Both British Breakthrough and British Single are voted by the public, so it could be 2 Brits for them :( :( :puke2: To be fair ... I'd have no objection to them winning Best British Breakthrough or single ... as they are a good breakthrough act and the single was a good seller (and of last year's singles it was fairly pleasant and harmless). I really object to the Best British Group nomination though ... I mean if they win ... just imagine the roll of last few winners: Arctic Monkeys Arctic Monkeys Elbow JLS No wonder the Monkeys seldom turn up to this show and when they do, they quite rightly take the mickey! Norma
January 18, 201015 yr I really doubt JLS will win Best British Group.. Have a good chance of winning the other two though
January 18, 201015 yr Can't believe they got rid of best international group.Black eyed peas would have beena shoo-in for that.  Well Take That had Best British Live Act in the bag but they dropped that category too! We just have to deal with these little tragedies as best we can! Norma
January 18, 201015 yr Well I think JLS have Best Single in the bag, it was catchy and their fans will vote like hell. Could you say the same for other acts in that category? It's that obsessive fandom that sets them apart, why they have had some big singles sales but also some surprisingly high album sales, much more than any other British pop solo or group last year. Edited January 18, 201015 yr by d22ghj
January 18, 201015 yr Brtish Female Solo Artist - Lily Allen or Florence (prefer Lily) British Male Solo Artist - Paolo Nutini As the others in their category don't have album nods.
January 18, 201015 yr Well Take That had Best British Live Act in the bag but they dropped that category too! Take That best British Live Act? Surely Muse would have walked that? -- Richard
January 18, 201015 yr Take That best British Live Act? Surely Muse would have walked that? -- Richard No ... believe me ... Take That would (and should) have won it! Both acts are brilliant live ... but Take That's fan-following (and the new fans they picked up after The Circus Tour) would have seen it go their way. But 'tis gone now ... no use crying over spilt milk! Norma
January 18, 201015 yr Judging from the appearences of Doves and Friendly Fires it was hardly a vintage year for British groups... I dont know what you're trying to say. Are you saying that Doves and Friendly Fires are rubbish?
January 18, 201015 yr And there is the Animal Collective nomination that I predicted but no one believed me. Delighted there's no International Group this yea. BEP or sodding U2 might have got it.
January 18, 201015 yr Gutted Cheryl has been snubbed for the British Female category... She WAS the woman of the year, she has biggest sales than any other female this year, including Susan, Lily and Leona. My predictions are really wild though, it's always hard to predict. British Male Solo Artist WANT : Dizzee Rascal WILL : Paolo Nutini British Female Solo Artist WANT : Lilly Allen WILL : Florence And The Machine British Breakthrough Act WANT : La Roux WILL : JLS British Group WANT : Muse Will : Kasabian Mastercard British Album WANT : Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You WILL : Florence And The Machine - Lungs British Single WANT : Cheryl Cole - 'Fight For This Love' WILL : Cheryl Cole - 'Fight For This Love' International Male Solo Artist WANT : Michael Buble WILL : Jay-Z International Female Solo Artist WANT : Norah Jones WILL : Lady GaGa International Breakthrough Act WANT : Lady GaGa WILL : Lady GaGa International Album WANT : Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. January 19, 201015 yr She WAS the woman of the year, she has biggest sales than any other female this year, including Susan, Lily and Leona. But those nominations are decided before the end of September or October I think - anyone releasing after that wouldn't be considered. Cheryl's album didn't come out until after the voting was done and dusted. FFTL got in because it's a public vote not a committee award. No doubt I'll be corrected if I'm wrong  Edited January 19, 201015 yr by munchkin
