January 22, 201015 yr Quite, hence why your proposals to have the poor not be allowed to procreate seem just a tad bizarre :P Chicken/egg scenario Tyron, let them go out and work and bring in some money then let them have all the kids they want It was Scott calling for sterilisation not me, I don't approve of that, if they get declined the child licence the kid gets adopted and they apply again when they have a job/money Edited January 22, 201015 yr by B.A Baracus
January 22, 201015 yr Author Chicken/egg scenario Tyron, let them go out and work and bring in some money then let them have all the kids they want You make it sound so easy! :P
January 22, 201015 yr You make it sound so easy! :P It's not as hard as it sounds, someone is determined enough then they will get a job A presentable CV, a suit (social fund can pay for suits), a nice pair of shoes, some get up and go and a good attitude and they would get work
January 22, 201015 yr I would Tyron The dependency/welfare culture in this country is a cancer, chavs that are born into welfare are unlikely in 90% of cases to break away from welfare and their kids in turn would spend a life on benefits, there is an underclass in this country of career welfare claimants and is it good them breeding ? I don't think it is unreasonable for anyone who has a kid to be able to show they can afford it It is unreasonable IMO though B.A. Let's say someone never works a single day in his or her life, and I hear there are such people, why should they still not have the right to become parents? Ridiculous and your reasoning makes me very angry. TBH I've never heard or read such rubbish in all my life. I'm not just saying this because I don't work either. I just think it's discrimination at it's worst. Okay maybe give them vouchers for food and fuel so they don't buy cigs and alcohol but still let them have as many kids as they want. There was a thread on DS recently asking if some people "just aren't born to work or hold down a job ie going to work "isn't for them" and makes them depressed or physically ill." I think there are such people and it's time it was recognised as an illness. A guy in America in the 80's claimed he couldn't hold down a job as he couldn't concentrate for "thinking about sex and mentally undressing my colleagues all day" A judge agreed with him in fact and allowed him benefits! THIS. I'm happy to help pay for those in GENUINE need and their dependents. What I'm not happy to do is watch Wayne and Waynetta Slob decide they don't need to work, they'll have 16 children instead which we can all pay for. Especially if those 16 children are going to be brought up wanting for almost everything, being brought up with no values, honour or pride in themselves, and end up as ASBO children.
January 25, 201015 yr It was Scott calling for sterilisation not me, And yet you seem to approve of mass extermination of living, breathing people..... Hypocrite.... -_- As far as I'm concerned abortion and sterilisation sorts the problem before it even becomes a problem.... And without the need for mass murder of actual human who are here as opposed to theoretical humans who dont even exist yet..... -_-
January 25, 201015 yr absolutely... how many of us are really mature or responsible at 20? It's not about "maturity" as such, it's more to do with emotional/psychological factors, which go far deeper... There are plenty of "mature" people on the surface who can function on a day to day basis, but underneath, they lack the proper equipment to raise a child... Example - Middle and upper class people who abdicate their basic parental duties to Nannies and Au Pairs and just generally take little interest in actually rearing the child.. Now, these people are certainly mature enough to hold down a job or profession or a relationship, but, I would argue it's pretty obvious that these people are not bonding properly with their children...

Very true.. But how many kids from well to do, "nice" middle-class families end up being fukked-up emotionally...? Quite a lot... The "Feral" kids lash out, the "Quiet" kids internalise it and/or self-harm and end up being on anti-depressants or other such medication.... Which is surely just as big a problem....

I'm not saying that every middle class family is wonderful either, but that's where the emotional assessments also come in. Of course you're still never going to be able to prevent every situation.
