10+ minute songs are the way forward tbh. I'm only a newbie at listening to such long songs but they ALL turn out to be INCREDIBLE not less <3 f*** Buttons, Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, The Knife, Four Tet just to name the recent ones i've been listening to...

I delete anything from my iPod longer than 6 minutes tbh :kink:
This deserves deleting from facebook friends -_-

I'm semi-joking, but I only get to listen to my iPod on the train. I listen to longer songs at home, but I want to hear 5-6 songs in a half hour...
I've started listening to ESC entries on the way to work - the journey takes me exactly 12 minutes in the car, hence I can listen to four songs, rather than two longish ones...
QUALITY NOT QUANTITY. -_-

I'm not immune to longer songs, my favourite song of the last decade was six minutes long! But short snappy pop songs wake me up a lot more than 10 minute indie epics, bear in mind I'm driving to work at 5.20am
I have remixes in the 7-8min category but thats about it. Money Note is probably my longest none remixed track

You can listen to songs in other ways LOL? I know you do but just the way people are talking is like they only listen to music in cars.

I don't think a long song means it's good or anything. Some suck. Epicly. But I am never going to not give a song a chance because of length, though length does mean a song has to rise to the challenge. Joanna does. <3 Mm.

I have a short attention span. I will listen to 10 minute songs but usually only if they are dramatic in some way, or build up and keep me interested throughout. 10 minute acoustic songs are not really my sort of thing, I turn off after a couple of minutes. I'll give everything a chance but some things just don't appeal unfortunately :( I listen to music a lot more than just in the car as well  It's just that at that time in the morning I prefer something chirpy to keep me alert.

More often than not, I can't stand dance remixes of pop songs  I only like remixes if they completely change or add an interesting new element to a song. Plastering a dance beat behind a ballad is my idea of a nightmare, I know a lot of people on BuzzJack worship Jason Nevins remixes but these are the sorts of things I will avoid at all costs usually  Why I would possibly need to hear a dance version of Kelly Clarkson's Because Of You I really don't know, it's hardly music for clubbing, considering the subject matter :heehee:

99% of those techno remixes are TERRIBLE. And it seems that absolutely EVERY pop song that was a little bit successful has to be abused by those "DJs". :puke2:

Actually, I love dance remixes, when I'm out, or I'm at home. But listening to them on my iPod? Cba.

Maybe 1970s Prog Rock is the way to go :kink: .... how about one of these 20 minute plus epics:

Mike Oldfield - Amrok - 54:22

Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick - 43:50

Allman Brothers - Mountain Jam - 33:40

Led Zeppelin - Dazed & Confused (live) - 29:28

Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother - 23:44

Genesis - Supper's Ready - 22:58

Kraftwerk - Autobahn - 22:42

Yes - Dance of the Dawn - 22:37

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Tarkus - 20:35

Rush - 2112 - 20:33

Tbh both 'Monkey and Bear' and 'Emily' are amazing songs around the 10 minute mark, they're both sufficiently dramatic, I think :P.
Kraftwerk - Autobahn - 22:42

That would be fun fun fun :kink:

What do you expect? Hearing the original ones with slow beats that you can barely dance to? Remixes exist for dance music clubs, you know, to dance to? And they also get played on dance music radio stations like Kiss and Galaxy.

Me too. I always have the original ones most of the time, but I like getting some amazing remixes. I love the Jason Nevin remixes of pop songs, totally adds a new power to the songs that are usually slow and syrupy.

I dont listen to club remixes most of the time, unless they have a part somewhere that i'm a fan of. But most of the time the long intro and outro with just beats annoy me - those are strictly for club usage only.

Agreed on the latter part, particularly about the longer intro and outro's, which are almost always a processed drum beat playing for 2 minutes before and after the song kicks in and fades out. I don't mind radio remixes, like Cahill, Airscape, Freemasons, Wideboys etc of pop songs or dance songs but ballads turned into dance songs is one of my musical pet hates. One that particularly sticks out is a horrific dance remix of Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, which may have been by Jason Nevins but I can't fully remember. I just can't imagine dancing in any way shape or form to My Heart Will Go On in a club  However, flipping it over, dance songs turned into ballads is one of my musical loves - Yanou is the king of this  Heaven, Everytime We Touch and Sunrise were his highlights - all gorgeous as piano ballads.

Hah i'm the opposite. I like ballads turned into dance anthems, but hate the candlelight mixes, they just drag the song down like a painful death
