I hated "Even If", but I still don't think the UK, Germany or Poland should've come last, it should've been Spain & Croatia, then maybe the UK just above that.

And I haven't seen anyone else mention it here, but it's also been confirmed that our selection will be on one night, with six acts, then the expert panel in the studio decide which three shall perform the song. So hopefully the rubbish is kicked out by the panel.

I will cry if the 'expert panel' has John Barrowman on it. And I just bloody know it will.

I don't know why the BBC don't just send him to Eurovision since he does some singing anyway :P

The UK should stop messing around and go for the red button option - send Darius!

He's charismatic and versatile enough to sing any type of song and be as classy or cheesy as the piece requires.

Pete Waterman was to produce his first post-PI single but never got the chance because Darius got Simon Fuller on side and dumped Simon Cowell.

I actually agree Darius would be a good entrant for us. But it's strictly unknowns this year. Again.
Darius would be good, as long as he doesn't do opera. I know he must be good at it since he won "Popstar To Operastar", but I don't like opera music normally.
would have done, but won't be in the country :/ why must everything happen at the same time :( Sheperd's Bush is easy for me to get to as well!
I've applied for the pre-registration thing. Not sure if I'll be able to go, but thought I may as well anyway!
"The Sun" mentions that Simon Cowell would really like to do Eurovision - and Pete says "he can't do much worse than Andrew". Yes he can, he could come lower than 5th! And I'm not sure the bit about Simon is true - I thought I'd heard in the past that he doesn't like ESC. And if he really did want to do it, I'm sure the BBC would get him doing it straight away, seen as he's such a big name.
Simon Cowell? The guy everyone in Europe hates?

Yes, that must be him :P But he could do a good job of finding someone to represent us, since he was Leona Lewis' mentor on The X Factor, and she is arguable the most famous person to come out of UK X Factor (soon to be over-taken by Jedward) :kink:

After all, it's not about the singer/composer/writer, it's the song that matters (apparently). People shouldn't just not vote for us because Simon Cowell was involved.

Not only in Europe it seems
Wouldn't it be great to have some bland MOR Westlife/Everybody Hurts cover style production representing us :cheer:

Now you mention it, NO :puke2:

I like Simon Cowell, though. I think he's popular in the UK/USA. He's a judge on two of the most watched shows in the UK, and American Idol is massive in the USA

Pete says "he can't do much worse than Andrew". Yes he can, he could come lower than 5th!

Oh dear!!! Hasn't Pete Waterman grasped the whole point of Eurovision. Andrew Lloyd Webber got us as high as 5th last year which was an incredible finish for a country who had previously had some really terrible rankings (admittedly with some really average songs that don't particularly stand out). If this is how Pete is thinking, then I'm more convinced we'll definitely have a flop on our hands in 2010 and follow Jemini and Andy Abraham at the foot of the 2010 Eurovision leaderboard.

If that's Pete's idea of "can't do much worse than Andrew" then so be it...

UK - 25th - 0 pts <--- :w00t:

Didrik's song could easily be an Il Divo/Rhydian/Westlife song though.

I don't think we'll get 0 this year, Ireland and the UK now have a mutual understanding that we give each other points.

Oh sweet jesus wept, Waterman :manson:

FFS

Sugababes confirmed for the show too. :D

I wouldn't be so happy if i were you.

Thanks to the infinite wisdom of the management in sacking the driving force and bringing in Jade as a 'replacement' the band is forever tied to Eurovision. If we send something $h!t again ESC's stocks in the UK go down and drags everything with a Eurovision connection with it which would mean the Babes.

Not ideal given that Sweet 7 is released after the UK NF now :drama:

If i ever meet Mark Hardgreve i'll be the last f***ing person he meets other than CSI techs and a Corner

...but this is Eurovision.

I made a point a few weeks back about us sending Sugababes as it seems like a good idea because:

1. Sugababes have already been successful across Europe albeit with a slightly different line up.

2. Jade will be recognised after representing us last year. Heidi as well as Sugababes scored their biggest hits in Europe when Heidi joined.

3. They can handle the pressure of performing live.

If Sugababes did represent the UK and won, all the doubters would soon being singing their praises. Then again, that's the problem. It's the UK!!! With a public vote (even with the best song) you can imagine the Grate British voting public choosing another song by a nobody that stands no chance of winning. I say scrap the Your Country Needs You show and just automatically send Sugababes anyways. It could be worse, it really seriously really could.

If the babes ever do represent the UK it'd have to be with something a damned sight better than a SAW production.

I say get Mutya and Keisha in to write an Dallas Austin to produce it. Just watch the UK go top5 with that combo.
