I hope 'Alors On Danse' is the genuine original Stromae version purely because I can imagine the "alors on danse" and the "la la lal laa" bits appealing to the UK public in the same way "mai hee, mai hoo, mai aahh, mai ah ahh" appealed to some of my mates at college back in 2003. The verses aren't important. It's all about the chorus. That's the bit everyone remembers so it's perfect for Stromae. Anyways, if it is the original French language version that gets released, then I hope it becomes a UK no. 1 hit. :D

That's one reason I really don't want the Vato Gonzalez version to get popular. The "la la la la la" bit isn't in it. :(

Album's up on UK iTunes, so therefore Alors On Danse is available to purchase. Can it do anything on word of mouth?

Really?!? DJ Team's version has got into the top 600 before (and possibly higher). So I could see Stromae's version getting into the top 500 or something in the next couple of weeks.

But I don't think it'll do much until the advertising campaign properly begins.

Wow *buys*

I think what they should do for the UK is a semi-insturmental version without the chorus but with the hooks.

Alors on danse (Stromae's version) is now in the top 1000 on iTunes. I hope it just rises from here. Has it started getting airplay yet? It's got the same release date as Airplanes and Beautiful Monster, and they're both getting airplay.
The version that's being distributed to radio stations is (to my amazement) the original version, so it looks like we won't be getting that dire version. There's also a UK Club mix, which is bordering on the 'effing awesome.'

Alors On Danse

Release date: 08/08/2010 Digital release date: 08/08/2010 Label: Island

‘Its blend of French flow, trance stabs, ravey sax and la-la-la vocals offer no less than four melodies perfect for drunken chanting…so it's going to be massive. And yet, it's about the awfulness of existence.’

Half Rwandan and half Belgium Stromae produced European Billboard no.1 hit ‘Alors On Danse’ on his computer at home with a desktop mic.

Even more remarkable, he created his buzz when filming homemade ‘lessons in how to make a hit’ for his Youtube channel, starting in January 2009 (‘Les Leçon De Stromae’ or ‘Stromae’s Lessons’). Lesson no. 8 ‘Alors On Dance’ became a viral sensation and then a real hit on Europe’s radio airwaves, getting to no.1 across the continent (11 countries so far!) and running up 7 million Youtube plays.

It started when the internet excitement from his music production Youtube shows caught the attention of DJ Julie on the dance specialist NRJ Mash Up Show of France’s biggest radio station in June 2009. Getting rave reactions on the specialist show it was moved to playlist rotation proper and from there it shot to no.1 in both France and Germany.

French language blog Fluo Kids described ‘Alors on Danse’ as like ‘Calabria X tranxene’. ‘Calabria’ referring to Alex Gaudino’s 2007 dance hit and tranxene referring to the anti-depressant pills proscribed for anxiety.

Stromae (born Paul Van Haver) fits his smart stream of consciousness lyrics into dance music. He has reimagined the sound of his native Belgium’s late 80’s New Beat. Groups like Snap! And Technotronic produced worldwide hit records by retooling Chicago house with European je ne sais quoi.

Stromae’s has had the first #1 single in Germany in the French language since 1988. With English speaking clubs and blogs worldwide already heating up for ‘Alors On Danse’ this product of global list of influences could end up sitting on a global hit.

Alors on danse has gone to #1 in the Czech Republic. http://www.ifpicr.cz/hitparada/index.php?hitp=R

I also read that it got to number-one in Turkey and Serbia. And what country is "Pays-Bas", because it got to number-one there too. I know "en bas" means "downstairs", and I think "Pays" means country (like Pays-de-Galles is Wales). Country down below?

How many countries is this now then? I don't think some of them count though, as they're not official charts (like Greece).

Thanks. :) So that's 11 countries at number-one (and also European Billboard), which corresponds with the news article above. If we include Luxembourg, Turkey, Serbia and Greece, that's 15 number-ones, but I'm guessing they don't have official charts, just ones like our Big Top 40 Show, as in that they're not recognized. It also got to #28 in Estonia, but again, I don't think that's an official chart. I think it's still hovering at the top of the charts in Russia, Finland and Sweden, so hopefully it'll get number-ones there too.

I also read that it got to number-one in Turkey and Serbia. And what country is "Pays-Bas", because it got to number-one there too. I know "en bas" means "downstairs", and I think "Pays" means country (like Pays-de-Galles is Wales). Country down below?

The Netherlands. As in nether regions :kink: Used to be called the Low Countries.

AMAZING world chart history

It reached #1 in Greece too, Hitstastic

And also Luxembourg, Turkey, Serbia, and I've just read on youtube that it's also been number-one in Macedonia. Hitstastic's list is, I think, "official" number-ones. It's the same list that's on wikipedia. I think the chart in Greece, and the other countries I mentioned just aren't recognized as "official".

I could be wrong. I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Greece and Luxembourg are official download charts, published by Billboard. The others, not so much. Most eastern european charts are based on airplay alone.
Does anybody have a link to the english version? Pleaseeeeeee? (:
Has anyone noticed how Alors On Danse by Stromae is now #662 and continuing to climb, considering its not had any video/radio play is a good sign IMO, just hoping it gets the support. That article above is quite encouraging but I guess we will know in the next 3/4 weeks if its gonna get any support or not.

Yeah, that is promising. :) The DJ Team version got higher than that too at one point.

I agree about the support thing aswell. I just want it to get it's first airplay on Radio 1 really.

And JDL., you can find links to a few English versions on the previous pages of the thread, but there's no "THE" English version, as far as I know. Or did you mean the UK Club Mix?

I don't see this being anything other than a big hit to be honest, I've been hearing this out loads but only today found out it was this. It always goes down really well.

What? In the UK!?! That's a good sign then. :)
