For people who haven't seen my personal chart, Lena is currently #1 with "Satellite", and Jennifer is currently #2 with her version :kink:

I'm listening to Lena's album now (on track 7), and it's literally so MEH. Only 3/7 have stood out for me, 3 were boring ballads, and 1 was alright. Let's hope it picks up in the 2nd half...

 It doesn't really, it's a 7/10-a-thon mostly. Mr Curiosity is rather nice though, if you haven't already got to it. I guess Love Me is the closest thing there to Satellite.

Yeah, I agree. :\ I don't really like 'Mr. Curiosity' though... 'Love Me' is definately the best non-'Satellite' track on there though!

today the german eurovision team decided that lena will be representing the country next year as well. i watched how they welcomed her in hannover on pro 7. it was interesting :)
Yes I know, look how low I rated it as well, considering it's now by some margin my favourite song of the year :drama: I suppose this is what comes from making off the cuff comments before putting things into perspective. I honestly remember thinking it wasn't up to much when I first heard it but when I heard the studio version I loved it, and then it grew more and more. I suppose this initial comment is why I had reservations over it winning yesterday, considering it took so long to grow on so many people, I don't understand how it clicked in such a big way with all of the televoters on what was surely the first listen for most of them :o Unless the song's been so ubiquitous around Europe that a large portion of voters/countries were already aware of it and used to it. I still don't know anyone who found it instantly incredible on the first listen.
I did  its sensational. I adore that type of quirky pop

What, no way? She's hardly likely to win twice in a row :o An 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' method hardly applies in this scenario, they need to keep their momentum going and find another great original (in a different way) performer for next year.

If you are lying, I will seek out revenge. Or if your telling the truth, but the German eurovision team change their minds, I shall seek them out.

If you are telling the truth (please let it be true!), then AMAZING

Is there any sources I could see to prove it?

If it's true, then next year's contest will just be a big Lena shrine for 3 hours. Here's Lena performing last year's winner Satellite. And here's Lena with the German entry this year. I bet all of the pre-song postcards would be people from each different country telling us what they like about Lena :kink: Anywhere lower than 1st would just undermine her original achievement as it would seem like she was a flash in the pan success. I don't think it's a good idea personally...

you're right, it's not likely to win twice in a row, but the producers probably think that they owe it to her, since they have waited for 28 years to bring the contest in germany. they probably want to help her become even more popular or smthng...

i don't really know who has the authority to decide that, but that's what stefan raab said and they repeated it later on on the news.

wow, i'm not lying, why would i? :D but they might change their minds, i don't know. i was surprised myself, i thought it was too early to say something like that

Maybe they'll send her every year until she finishes outside the top ten. I'm a huge fan but lightning doesn't strike twice usually. Look at Maria Haukaas Storeng's weak entry in the Norway MGP this year. Compared to Hold On Be Strong it was nothing. I hate it when artists represent the country again with a generally agreed much weaker song than the one that made their name. Fine if somebody's coming back with something incredible though, so if this is indeed true, they need to start writing songs for her now, they have a whole year to do it :P
Doesn't the previous winner normally give the trophy to the new winner? That would look very strange if she wins again next year :P

I'm just thinking about how much I was obsessed with and pleased for Alexander Rybak this time last year, but a year on I'm sick of the sight of him - he's been everywhere over the last 12 months. So if the same mass overexposure happens to Lena, she could well find herself in the bottom five if the song's a bit average. Even if it's amazing, the 'wow, that's new and fresh' factor will be gone and she'll suffer. She should continue and build on her career outside of Eurovision now in my opinion. It's been a great launching pad but I'm sure she doesn't want to be another Johnny Logan/Katrina, i.e. dragged out every year for Eurovision but ignored the rest of the time. I want ABBA/Celine Dion success for her :kink:

Like I said in another thread earlier, nothing ever stays the same in Eurovision - trying to recreate what was popular the year before never seems to work, yet it's attempted every year, so don't be surprised to see a load of quirky females crashing out in the semis/bottom ten in the final next year :drama:

I don't think they'll send her again next year... maybe Stefan Raab will return as performer on the ESC stage as he's partly responsable for their victory too.

it will be awkward as the previous winner usualy opens the final show :P

well, they might just be a little overwhelmed by the success right now. we'll see how things will turn out at a later point :)
Maybe they could get Lena to host the show

Why not, sounds like she'll be doing everything else

Shall we go ahead and just rename next year Lenavision? :kink: I wonder, if we sent Kate Nash, would she be able to topple her? :o
