Interestingly robbie is singing all his older hits and not the new ones as much, i think there is a good enough reaosn for that.
Lungs is a masterpiece - quirky and original, with thoughtful and powerful lyrics, yet still accessible and commerical which is incredibly difficult to achieve.

I have to say I disagree. I find that it is overwrought and very hard to listen to as a whole. As for original I'd say she took what Joanna Newsom (the harp) and Bat for Lashes (celtic influenced modern folk with romantic lyrics) were doing and made it a bit more commercial with two or three decent songs. I think it's a case of people willing to put up with a few good songs with lots of filler and because it doesn't sound like something they are used to then they dont notice it's filler.

I know most people disagree with me.

All of them were deserved except for JLS and Kasabian imo. Both vile.

Well maybe Oasis too given Liam's apalling reaction to winning.

Glad Oasis won - only because most of the rest of the albums were undeserved.

No Regrets is Robbie's best song.

I know anyones saying it was a bad ceromony but I actually thought it was really good but I think last years was better

Well each to their own but I think Dog Days Are Over, Rabbit Heart, I'm Not Calling You A Liar, Kiss With A Fist, Drumming Song, Between Two Lungs, Cosmic Love, Hurricane Drunk and Blinding are all essential.

I do like her version of You've Got The Love too but it's a fairly safe cover really.

Seeing as it's you Dandy, I will give it another few listens. :)

If you do, re-order the playlist so it goes:

01 Dog Days Are Over

02 Rabbit Heart

03 Howl

04 I'm Not Calling You A Liar

05 Kiss With A Fist

06 Girl With One Eye (Bayou Percussion Version)

07 Drumming Song

08 You've Got The Love

09 Between Two Lungs

10 Hurricane Drunk

11 Swimming

12 Cosmic Love

13 Blinding

The album just makes more sense in that order and has a better flow too. Some of the transitions on the standard ordering are quite jarring imo.

I made a point of watching Robbie's performance. It was good. Not as much of a mind-blower as Paul McCartney in 08 or Oasis in 07 ... but good nonetheless. I can still see why though, the Americans (in general) don't get him.

Cosmic Love is amazing - pity it was never a single. Strange to have to reorder the playlist. I'll take your advice.

Cheryl was amazing and love lily, so happy for gaga she looked great and Florence. Saw sugas they looked great... and WTF throwing ur Brit award to the crowed lol

Can someone explain how Cheryl Cole is anything other than shocking? She mimed and didn't do it well.

tonight, imo, was a disaster. JLS winning a whole load of awards is bulls**t. I bet if they didn't have 6-packs, their fame wouldn't even exist. BA was certainly not the best single of 2009.

having said that, at least florence got the mastercard award. amazing album.

also made me lol at peter kay's responce to noel/liam throwing his award to the audience. 'what a k**bhead!'

I think she sacrificed live singing for a performance instead. Britney does it all the time in her tours. I'm no great fan of Cheryl Cole but she CAN sing! She proved it on the Children In Need gig. For me ... it was as disappointing as when Take That chose a 'spectacular' entrance over live singing last year.

I thought it was a shame she mimed. She did everything else reasonably well, great entrance, typical (and quite successful) Brits-style variation on the track in the middle, big dance routine etc but the miming was so bad that it just detracted from all the positives.

The worst bit was when she switched the mic on at the end with heavy breathing on cue, I'm afraid it will take more than that to fool everyone Ms Cole.
