February 16, 201015 yr No one is saying panels always make the best decisions. But they would be better than the public.
February 16, 201015 yr No one is saying panels always make the best decisions. Except when it suits! Norma
February 17, 201015 yr Bollocks! And as my evidence I cite Forrest Gump being awarded Best Picture Oscar over The Shawshank Redemption. Case Closed. Norma's verdict wins. Norma I think both ways are flawed to be honest, I say just keep it as it is.
February 17, 201015 yr Except when it suits! Norma I will rephrase that. Panels don't always pick the best winner.
February 17, 201015 yr I will rephrase that. Panels don't always pick the best winner. Which is why it can be as equally as flawed a system as the public vote. The judges can be biased just as much as the public can. Edited February 17, 201015 yr by Daniel Gleek

February 17, 201015 yr I can't believe no-one cared enough to upload JLS's performance to youtube  How was it? Edited February 17, 201015 yr by Bibliotheque
February 17, 201015 yr You dont get Cheryl Cole begging the panel for votes though. True, all I'm saying is that no system is perfect. Oh, and the JLS entrance was pretty good but the rest was bad and forgettable.
February 17, 201015 yr not sure if any one's mentioned this yet but cheryl's entrance was a blatant copy of an mj one. shooting up from under the stage and standing there for a while with a pair of shades on. but only mj can stand there for 5 minutes and not say anything. you're not quite at that level yet cheryl. plus what's with those 2 backup dancers? single ladies much? does she ever come up with her own ideas? and i'm not knocking her even though it might look like it but it does seem to be becoming a trend that she does things that other people have done. maybe it's just a coincidence but if so they happen very often.. oh and don't get me started on the lip syncing! i don't even mind it when people lip sync when they're dancing around like cheryl did cos it probably is really hard to do both but if you're gonna do it, do it well!
February 17, 201015 yr I thought Cheryl's performance was brilliant, especially considering all the $h!t she must've been through over the last few days. Yes, she may have been obviously miming, but the performance she gave was great and the whole 'Show Me Love' mash-up thing worked brilliantly imo.

It was more of a copy of how the Black Eyed Peas (and GaGa) entered during their Grammy performance. Overall I didn't think it was half bad. PngT_ighXmQ Edited February 17, 201015 yr by Daniel Gleek
February 17, 201015 yr I find it difficult to praise a performance when the most relevant part of the performance was very poor. What constitutes the rest of the performance? They dance routine, what she's wearing, the other people on the stage, the "Show Me Love" mash-up? The cut to a female soloist who actually sounded better was a terrible creative decision. Why would you do that when you had just mimed? It didn't add anything, it just took the focus off Cheryl so she could change her outfit. All in all, it looked like it was cobbled together by a bad stage director.

All in all, it looked like it was cobbled together by a bad stage director. plus they asked rowetta from the x factor who originally sang the song that was played half way through if they could use it but she said no cos after she said yes the first time they decided to use someone else to mime her part which she thought was out of order which it is. but they obviously did use in the end without getting her permission. what's all that about??

LMAO I was thinking that. In fact... I don't know if this was intentional, but at the beginning of her performance, she really could pass for MJ from a distance. Something about the hair and the shades. I don't know why, but her miming tonight really irks me for some reason. I generally don't really care about miming as a general rule... it's perfectly fine for some people to be entertainers instead of singers. But still... this is the Brits. It's implied that you're going to be singing live. My philosophy is that if you're not willing to perform live at the Brits then don't perform at the Brits at all.
February 17, 201015 yr Indeed after tonight's debacle of a performance by her, here's the reason I've laid off criticising her singing abilities as I think this is brilliant. lVjQYbX-F7k She has a relatively nice-sounding voice, but even in this performance, her voice technically is painfully average. She's somewhat capable of holding a note, but her vocals are so limited and thin. Like I said though, she does have nice 'texture' to her voice, which means she is adequate at complementing the stronger voices in Girls Aloud and the stronger voice of Gary Lightbody here, but when solo, her limitiations are totally exposed. Her vocals even sound weak on the studio versions of FFTL and 3 Words, and that's presumably after she's been AutoTuned incessantly.
February 17, 201015 yr another great show! i know its pretty meaningless , i know its corporate back slapping, but ive always had a soft spot for the tradition that is the brits. sam fox?...oh dear... desperately trying to make light of her debacle from '89 .... and only made it WORSE! what a complete failure, she has no charisma and no idea how to host. all she has done is compound the past and add a new generation of people to laugh at her. peter kaye.... brilliant! highlight was calling liam gallagher a 'nobhead' for chucking his award into the crowd ... exactly what we were thinking! gaga?... a well deserved winner, a superb performer, creative, individual (but not really original) but i didnt like her shy american acceptance speeches .... thought all the performances were good/great .... except one.... guess! how tf has this escaped chavette (rescued from jeremy kyles participants, cos thats where she would have been if she wasnt lucky enough to be picked for a role in girls aloud) cheryl coles performance was DIRE. it was disgraceful, every week this tawdry bint has the audacity to judge 'wannabes' on the x factor then when it comes down to it she cannot produce the goods herself ...hell.. she wasnt even a good mimer!!! some say she can sing...then why doesnt she? or are her abilities that limited that she cannot multitask? energetic routines? then calm them down if she cannot perform! shes a singer, not a dancer... or supposed to be. real artistes CAN do both... kate bush managed 30 years ago when she pioneered the use of radio mics for her tour. cheryl cole = fraud, fake, and should be dropped by the x factor. just proves that 'look good' doesnt equate to IS good. i dont like jls, i was disappointed they won anything, but ill not take away the fact they can perform live. enjoyed robbie., lilly, kasabian, florence, jay z , dizzy etc. hate fearne cotton.... her style of presenting is child like...shes supposed to be 28 (?) not 12,.

Exactly Mushy :) Only little females under the age of 16 would have probably voted for JLS. They only won the awards that were voted by the public. I agree with your points about Cheryl. Last night proved she can't sing live or at all. Maybe she should stick to being a wag. Other than that I enjoyed everyone else performances especially Jay Z.
February 17, 201015 yr This forum really is strange. People moaned about Lady GaGa but the bummage Cheryl Cole recieved over her performance? Tbf I though it was an okay-ish show. Lady GaGa was utterly amazing, I thought that version of 'Telephone' worked really well. Jay-Z & Alecia Keyes where amazing also, and I thouroughly enjoyed Kasabian & the Florence and Dizzee mix. However, Cheryl Cole was fukking awful. Poor dancing, poor miming, she looked trashy. I felt sorry for her before she came on (after what's been reported in the news) but then I just stopped caring. I have a mixed opinion however on Robbie. Tbh I don't think he actually deserved that award..

Robbie is the nation's hero! A cheeky chappie with a cheerful song and a smile for every occasion. I thought GaGa was the best of the night ... she strove to be different and she succeeded. Norma
