I've now read the full extract from the book rather than just the reports. The full extract is a lot more sympathetic to Brown than the reports suggest. It makes it fairly clear that they relate to a specific period when Labour and Brown were going through a particularly tough time (lost data, party funding scandals etc.) and that Brown was in complete denial. It took Peter Mandelson to have the courage to tell Brown to his face how badly things were going and what it could mean for the Labour Party.

This would be the same Peter Mandelson who is now in denial himself of a bullying culture within the Govt....

Whether it's Gordon Brown or not, there clearly IS a problem, which Mandelson, Darling and the Home Secretary and others all seem to be in denial of... It's just not good enough, there needs to be a full investigation of the claims no matter where it may lead...

If Rawnsley's book is so wrong and all these people have been mis-represented or mis-quoted, or whatever arse-covering excuses they're coming up with after the sh!t has hit the fan, then they can always take the bloke and his publishers to court for libel or defamation.... It's not as if they cant afford good lawyers... And likely put it on "expenses" as well no doubt.... <_<

Or maybe they're just remembering what happened to "Lord" Archer when HE lied to cover his arse in a Libel case..... -_-

IMHO this whole storm in a teacup is just another example of the blame culture in this country.

I wonder how all these whingers would have liked to work under Winston Churchill or Mrs Thatcher.

Mrs Thatcher actually had respect for her direct employees, her personal secretaries, etc.... It was all these blokes in the Cabinet that she kept under a rod of iron.....
