'Blackout' also won worst album even though it's probably the best of her career. NME don't have any credibility whatsoever, they've had Simon Cowell & Cheryl Cole on the cover for starters.

And if you read both interviews you would have realised they were mocking (to put it mildly) both acts talent. But I guess you don't understand irony.

This confuses me. Are you giving NME some sort of credibility?

Well that list looks pretty credible to me, especially with Public Enemy & Bob Marley in the Top 20 in my view the two most important black acts of all time who changed the world with their black empowerment music that quite literally changed the world.

Sorry but I can't imagine in a million years Chuck D or Bob Marley wanting to make a record with the late 1970s/early 1980s equivalent of Chris Martin (Sting), as they had a bit too much class about them.

Thought I'd bring this in here.

erm the video probably costed next to nothing so the sales will definitely cover the video (especially its at #14 atm). Also we dont know how long IGY will stay in charts, its doing alot better then we all expected it to this time last week so its actually looking good. Also echo is up 5 places yesterday so we should see it in top 40 next week with e4music interview coming up this sunday.

Will young:-

Changes peaked at #10.

Grace - peaked at #33.

Let it Go - peaked #53

hmmm he must be in debt, sales next to nothing.

Not hating just stating facts...

You do talk absolute s****! Videos are very costly too make. Singles are merely ambassadors for albums & as yet IGY has not really boosted album sales unlike Alex's & JLS. Surely even you can make out there's more profit to be made from shifting albums than 99p downloads

Just a few facts you overlooked

Will's 2nd single releases from his second album FC and third album Keep On both times he went back into the top 10 album chart for 6 weeks with YG 10-4-7-4-4-5 and with ATL 10-10-7-8-8-9 & with his second release Grace from album #4 went back up to #13

I'll watch out for Leona doing the same.

How many top 5 singles has will young had?

Leona has had 6 consecutive top 5 singles (3 #1's, 2 #2's and a #5)

She has sold millions worldwide (has will young done that? no.)

You are a loon. Maybe i am too for leona but you are for will so dont think your better then anyone.

I don't hate Leona ... and I'm not a huge fan of Will Young. However ... I have bought a Will album ... nothing could induce me to buy a Leona album. What Will Young has over Leona is versatility.

Anyway ... I thought this was a 'bash the artist' in general thread ... how has it suddenly become the Leona V Will thread?

Well I'll add my little bit as well, seeing is believing and what I'm seeing is Leona Lewis performing poorly in both the single and album

charts with only her second single off her second album, you posting stats from his 4th album, doesn't equate to how Leona is doing on only her 2nd album in. Will's had 5 successful albums so far and selling singles isn't the be-all and end-all of an artists career. Let's just see how Leona is faring in 9 years time like Will shall we?

*Just adding some chart stats, coz that seems to excite certain LL fans immensely.

Wills had 4 #1's 9 top 5 singles and a #10

Yeah, I swear I've seen this debate before.

Back on topic.

Bash of the day:

Beyonce. It didn't take long for "If I were a boy" and "Single ladies" to get on my nerves. Sigh.

I'll answer you Then leave it as it's getting boring.

9 top 5 singles. (4 #1's, 1 #2, 2 #3, 1 #4 & 1 #5)

Not so easy to score big hits now with no support from radio 1 or the big commercial radio stations but I'm sure you are aware of that as you've done plenty of squealing over Leona's c listing. Luckily she still has big commercial suppot but that can all change. Anyway at the end of the day it's the ability to sell albums that keeps an artist in a career & I don't just mean a debut.

OH MY GOD

I can't believe I didn't think of Oasis before. Their music isn't even THAT bad but Noel and Liam are probably two of the most vile, disgusting people in the world.

How did Sting come into this?

Sting = former lead singer of worldwide popular bland rock combo who was an activist for third world, human rights and political causes whom has won a lot of Grammies, practises yoga and is married to a former film actress turned film producer.

Chris Martin = lead singer of worldwide popular bland rock combo who was an activist for third world, human rights and political causes whom has won a lot of Grammies, practises yoga and is married to a Hollywood film actress.

Yeah, and how did Chris Martin come into it? Ben didn't mention either of those two...

^ Chris Martin did a duet with Kanye (Homecoming). Crossovers and hybrids are a lot more common today though, and I don't think Kanye was ridiculed for working with Chris, he's highly respected as a songwriter and singer. Homecoming is actually one of my favourite Kanye songs too
Becuase Kanye did a duet with Chris Martin and released it as a single. TiP is trying to say that Bob Marley would never have done it with the Chris Martin of his era....

OH I SEE

Yeah, I think that says more about diversification these days than any sign of whoring out to the blandies - I wouldn't really criticise an artist based on their choice of collaboration :o

Times change and things move on. Michael Jackson was working with will.i.am and Akon before his death and I don't recall many people thinking that it would be a disaster for his career, most people were just excited to hear new contemporary music from him, particularly after the flop of Invincible. It could be seen as selling out and trying to stay fresh and relevant but most people wouldn't bat an eyelid these days, there are so many bizarre and unexpected collaborations. Dizzee and Florence for one  It's not like Kanye was working with The Fray or Jason Mraz :heehee:

Kanye has however worked with 30 Seconds To Mars recently ;D

So Chris is the clone of Sting then? :o
So Chris is the clone of Sting then? :o

I also forgot to add they've both in an attempt to improve their image, hilariously parodied themselves on much loved BBC comedies......

Chris Martin in Extras

Sting in The Vicar Of Dibley

Maybe Kanye West can go along the same lines and appear in mmm say The Cleveland Show as a character called Kenny West to improve his public image. ;) :D

Thanks for those TIP, I bet Dawn French wouldn't be swooning over Sting the way he looks now.
