I can understand Mutya wanting to take back the name. She (and the other two) spent so many years building up the name to what it is and to see three non-original members using it to fill their pockets must be frustrating. I'm sure when Mutya left, she didn't have a problem because there was still an original, founding member apart of the group.

I like About A Girl, and Get Sexy and Wear My Kiss are ok but the Sugas used to be the pioneers of British pop which was accessible, yet resepectable at the same time. Push The Button, Hole In The Head and Round Round are pop standards which will be remembered for years, maybe decades to come. 4.0's singles will be a footnote on the brand name, much like the final few ABBA singles were - it's better for bands to bow out on a high, or change the band name altogether in my opinion if there is notable change in personnel, because other than Heidi (and excluding About You Now) Amelle and Jade weren't on any of the bands 'remembered' hits.

2.0 primarily produced the girls biggest hits, and the ones that will be played for years to come. Hell commercial radio is still playing some of their 5/6/7/8year old material like it's a new release that's been a WW #1 for a year.

One Touch will always be remembered by critics, It was very highly praised back in the day.

I can't see Sweet 7 getting much in the way of praise.

I agree with you. (Even though Denial is one of my favorite Sugababes songs :D).

They had more personality and less forgettable tunes. (still love line-up 4.0 too though, lol).

As a 4.0 fan myself, I do think this is the fairest move. It is only sensible that 4.0 change their names (I'm sure the Sug4babes or the Sugab4bes would be fine in terms of trademarking, wouldn't they?)...however, if this isn't actually a sign of a reunion and Mutya just being a cow then I'm against it.

This is where I'm confused - I thought there already WAS a reunion? Wasn't it reported that they signed the dotted line on their contract and were even looking for producers (with Siobhan being unhappy about the direction)?

I'm lost...

If there is even a 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that i will get to hear these live, as far as i am concerned this is by far the bast thing the 'band' has done since Mutya Quit.

and then of course we have THE TOTP debut

I heard Keisha was going solo

Wow @ that Madonna a'capella. They sound reallllllly good.

I hold a pretty similar belief.

The reason the Sugababes broke through with the 1.0 lineup & were so successful with the classic 2.0 line up was due to the fact they stood out from the crowd musically & visually with distinctive personalities and records to match that was well above the average pop fodder.

Losing Mutya was a body blow, losing Keisha was near terminal. What is left with the 4.0 lineup is a highly effective vocal group - They might look more pleasing on the eye, and they might actually be technically better singers but they have lost their unique selling points becoming a far more blander outfit as a result.

This 4.0 lineup may be releasing pretty decent singles, and the album may well be good but the one thing it is not is a Sugababes album.

It is irrelevant what Keisha got up to and whether or not she deserved to get fired as their management & their record company really should have subtly changed the name of the band to recognise that no original members were left to something like Sugab4bes; Sugarbabes or Sugababes X (after a decade in the business) to reflect this fact.

By not doing this they handed the moral high ground back to the team Keisha camp.

I never heard that lol

I saw it on Popjustice a few months ago. I think the part about them signing was tweeter to someone by the manager (or something like that). I remember reading an article, too.

I hope my excitement hasn't caused me to hallucinate. In that case, a reunion is needed for my own sanity!!!

LMFAO. Oh this is brilliant. I love a good legal dispute, maybe it's the journalist inside of me.

I didn't actually like any of the original girls that much - much prefer the current girls (especially Amelle and Jade) but I'm all for the originals reclaiming what's theirs and making sweet music. The current girls are puppets for their management, that much is obvious, and I feel like the ex-girls were treated by badly - so why not?

Wow @ that Madonna a'capella. They sound reallllllly good.

Stunning isn't it?

It's about 65% of the reason i'm salvating at a tiny chance of a reunion.

I see, i don;t read popjustice lol. Too many OTT GA loons for my liking.

IMO Siobhan and Mutya have no right to the name and Keisha was bought out so she lost her right. I am definitely on 4.0's side of this and I can't see the 1.0 reunion happening. First of all Keisha would have to buy out her solo contract which at this early stage could cost her a lot.

The only thing I see happening is that neither side will 100% win, the name will still stay with 4.0 but Island will have to pay to use it.

If 1.0 do reunite it will be amazing though although I do foresee Siobhan leaving again.

Basically what I want is for 4.0 to still be Sugababes and the three other be named something different.

#TEAM4.0 FTW

All three original members - Buena, Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy - are named on the document, but Kilburn and Strode told the BBC that Buena was the "sole applicant".

From the BBC news story! So no amazing reunion then?

Yeah, really good. How old were they? 16? They must have been 14/15 when they first started writing their album.

What a talented & credible bunch of girls.

Agreed, the album is Good, but not remotely comparable to One Touch - Taller.

Team Keisha has been dealt the victim card by the press and the way she's been treated by the management.

She originally applied in November, but amended it very recently to include the other girls. So we could still be getting a reunion

I can't see Keisha's solo deal being more than a 1 album thing
