"Despite repeated assurances that their forthcoming "hiatus" is not a break-up, SYSTEM OF A DOWN reportedly acted like a band on the brink. At the opening day of Ozzfest last Thursday, the members of SYSTEM arrived at the venue in separate tour buses. Guitarist Daron Malakian "seemed to be struggling to keep up with the rest of the band" and improvised lyrics during the first few songs of their performance. During the song "Lonely Day", while looking at vocalist Serj Tankian, Malakian crooned, "Such a lonely day, hanging out with the band/ This motherf***er, I can't stand."

 

Malakian is currently assembling a new group called SCARS ON BROADWAY and plans to record its debut album this fall. SYSTEM bassist Shavo Odadjian may participate and is also planning a collaboration with the WU-TANG CLAN.

 

Singer Serj Tankian will most likely continue to sign and develop artists on his own label, Serjical Strike, while drummer John Dolmayan is planning to launch an online comic book company."

Damn....This is not good but then again daron is crazy and does imprivise a lot but that sounds really bad. Hopefully things will ease on the later shows, I hope everything is cool they r my favorite band since the beginning.

I like the sound of Daron's new group.

Well, if it does happen, then I'd be glad to have four albums of absolute genius than listen to a band who were merely going through the motions. If Malakian's outbursts on stage are truly how he feels, then it's best to kill it than just go on just for the sake of it..... :(

I dont consider "Steal This Album" as a 'real' SOAD album though, isn't it mostly b-sides, demos, unreleased tracks, etc, rather than an actual studio album...? File under 'Compilation' like Nirvana's "Incesticide".....

No, it's a compilation.... I feel a distinction has to be drawn between a studio album proper of new original material and an odds and sods compilation which is culled from b-sides, demos, unreleased tracks, etc which could have tracks dating back years and from different album sessions.....

i guess but why not include the metro temper marmalade blue damn, etc u get the idea, anywa im not serious im just saying......so there isnt going to be a Soldier Side video? :cry:

Soldier Side video is doubtful, Pimpollo. Hope all that stuff about Ozzfest were just rumours, they've been together for 11 years so perhaps a few years off will recharge the batteries.
