May 10, 201015 yr Author Is this going to be finished anytime soon Theo? :kink: Anyway, Timbaland meh. I really don't care for him much anymore. Shut up. I blame lack of interest which I blame myself for, for delaying the results after a streak of lots of interest. ;_;
August 4, 201014 yr Author The results will be finished in the next couple of days, due to popular demand! :o Until then, speculate who will win or even predict the top five. :D Here are the artists in the top five: Alicia Keys Beyoncé Black Eyed Peas Keri Hilson Rihanna Edited August 4, 201014 yr by Theo.
August 4, 201014 yr Author 05 - KERI HILSON - 7.43 http://i36.tinypic.com/5lvs47.jpg Keri Hilson delivered one of 2009's best R&B albums, but it seems rather strange that Buzzjack deemed her as the 5th best R&B artist of last year! The singles were quite poor choices apart from the worldwide smash hit, 'Knock You Down' which reached #5 in June 2009 and went on to sell more than 300,000 copies! The parent album, 'In A Perfect World...' wasn't as lucky, reaching only #22 and spending a total of 14 weeks inside the top 100! The two other singles ('Return The Favor' featuring the artist that brought her to fame, Timbaland (who coincidently returned the favour of his massive single 'The Way I Are' which reached #1 in 2007) reached #19 in April 2009 and 'Energy' which reached #43 in September 2009) weren't as well received as 'Knock You Down', but maybe that's down to the fact that the latter has 2 massive US superstars tagged onto it? Who knows? Either way, the album contains some really good songs that would've worked better as singles and if she just wanted to throw out collaborations, then why not choose the stomper that is 'Turnin' Me On'? Anyway - you voted her, and here she is starting the top five! August 4, 201014 yr FIFTH?! :mellow: ONLY FIFTH?! She should have been number 1 :( (But very pleased she made Top 5 either way :P) 'In A Perfect World...' is, well "perfect" to me. She's an extremely talented woman who deserves far more recognition than she seems to get. But the whol era was handled pretty, poorly if I'm honest. The reason why the album "only" peaked at 22 was because upon it's "official release" Supermarkets and HMV in-store etc... didn't stock it (back when it debuted at #62) it was only avaiable to order online and download from iTunes etc... and considering that, #62 is a very respectable debut. However, it wasn't until a good 6 or 7 weeks after it debuted, when the supermarkets (Yes I was sad enough to check if they had it stocked in :P) and HMV in-store stocked it etc... and as a result it re-climbed and peaked at #22. It also actually had a pretty steady fall from then. But the whole campaign could have been handled so much better. I personally would have gone: 01. 'Change Me' [Feat. Akon] 02. 'Knock You Down' [Feat. Kanye West & Ne-Yo] ----ALBUM RELEASE---- 03. 'Alienated' 04. 'Turnin' Me On' [Feat. Lil Wayne] 05. 'I Like' ----RE-RELEASE ALBUM---- 06. 'Energy' [Then it wouldn't have mattered if it flopped or not as the album would have sold a million copies by then :)] Predictions on Top 4... 04. Black Eyed Peas 03. Alicia Keys [At time of rate, I think Alicia suffered from a lot of "her album's only just been released, so I'm marking her lower" etc...] 02. Beyoyo 01. Rihanna
August 5, 201014 yr I don't think she should have been in the top 5 tbh, but ahh well. Beyonce or Rihanna to win!
August 5, 201014 yr Author 04 - BEYONCÉ - 8.04 http://i36.tinypic.com/4uf57p.jpg First of all, without two unnamed hatahs that gave QUEEN BEY a -1, she would've given 1st place a run for its money (depending on what actual respectable score they gave her). HMF. Beyoncé is the true winner of this countdown and we all know it! Her 'I Am... Sasha Fierce' album spawned four consecutive UK top 10 singles, all of which sold over or close to 400,000 copies in the UK! The album has sold over 1 million copies here, despite originally peaking at #10 in December 2008 (reaching a #2 peak eight months later!) with a further four singles from it peaking in the "lower reaches" of the top 75 and another due to reach the top 100 this coming month. 4 of the songs released off the album reached #1 in various parts of the world, including the iconic 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)', which spent 4 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100! Overrall, this has been a massive era for Beyoncé and arguably her biggest yet, so it will be incredibly difficult for her to top it with her 4th studio album rumoured to be out at the end of 2010! August 5, 201014 yr You have to laught at Keri being top 5, the album was indeed very good and everything but i'd hardly call her one of the best R&B artists. Though Buzzjack does love her, so I dont suppose we should be that suprised. Beyonce would ideally be my #1. At the time of release I thought I Am was a bit hit and miss on the whole, but 357 singles later I think it's quite brilliant. She's never quite been loved on BuzzJack to the same extent as people Britney and GaGa so again I suppose this shouldnt came as too huge a shock, though it would have been nice had she at least beaten the Black Eyed Peas. I'd like Alicia Keys to win personally, though it will be of course be Rihanna...
August 5, 201014 yr Yaay my -1 helped, some good things ^_^ Keri should be #1, but top 5 is decent. Alicia FTW. She is only REALL rnb artist of those 3.
August 5, 201014 yr It doesn't matter though. This rate was for "Best R&B Artist of 2009" not all time wasn't it? :unsure: So Keri definitely deserves her top 5 placing imo.

August 6, 201014 yr =08 - JORDIN SPARKS - 6.91 http://i39.tinypic.com/2vknwi9.jpg The most unlucky American Idol winner now, who managed to miss the top 10 three times with single 'Battlefield' last year, once with 'S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)' and once with parent album, 'Battlefield'. Both 'Battlefield's peaked at #11 and 'S.O.S.' peaked at #12! The album was very hit-and-miss, with a few amazing songs, and a few boring ballads. The 3rd single from the album, 'Don't Let It Go To Your Head', managed to miss the top 100 completely, as no video was produced, therefore killing what could have been a hit single! I hope for her 3rd album to show some progression as an artist, with more uptempos, and hopefully, just hopefully, another UK top 10 single. Highest scorer(s): 10 Aled. 10 Nick F1 10 gagafangleek 10 LaLa2586 Lowest scorer(s): 1 AAC 1 ßřāŷ₣¡šҺ 1 CianS Awful! Ridiculous that she's in the top ten! The single 'Battlefield' is average at best (which is pretty good for her, considering everything she releases, imo, is 4/10 or below.) =08 - CIARA - 6.91 http://i44.tinypic.com/11ju046.jpg Another US R&B flopstar, yet Ciara managed to score a top 10 single with the opener to her last album! 'Love Sex Magic' (featuring Justin Timberlake) was an amazing pop-R&B duet, and possibly my favourite single of Ciara's overall. Parent album 'Fantasy Ride' became Ciara's 1st album to break the UK top 10 (peaking at #9), but dropped fairly quickly afterwards. The 2nd official single 'Work' (featuring Missy Elliott) hung around the lower ends of the top 100 for 7 consecutive weeks, but never rose higher than #52, ultimately killing the era, due to the song not being added to Radio 1's playlist. Ciara is set to release her 4th studio album this year, entitled 'Basic Instinct', but from the clip of single 'Ride' that I've heard, it's not set to be up to much; pity. Highest scorer(s): 11 LaLa2586 Lowest scorer(s): 1 Jamieed 1 superbossnova Ouch. :o I found it the same at first, but it's definitely a grower. The two UK singles were pretty brilliant, as was "I Don't Remember", if you don't mind subtle Ciara ballads. (actually, I usually can't stand them but I love it) In fact the only songs I'd skip past are "Lover's Thing" and "Like A Surgeon", no idea why the latter got a US release. For someone I've always considered a singles artist, she's not been so great at picking them lately. :mellow: I can see your criticisms though, most of the songs are quite subtle and growers, but I think it's her best album. Jordin Sparks, on the other hand, was someone I never really gave the time last time. I'm not sure why, I think I liked the album (and the singles) but I didn't feel I needed to go back to any of the songs a whole lot. I suppose it was a bit of a let down after how much I loved "No Air". I agree with AaronTM, 'Fantasy Ride' is a great album :o (although 'Like A Surgeon' is amaze! -_-) - I really don't find her dull at all. She's released some amazing songs, compared to the likes of Keri Hilson and Jordin Sparks. 05 - KERI HILSON - 7.43 http://i36.tinypic.com/5lvs47.jpg Keri Hilson delivered one of 2009's best R&B albums, but it seems rather strange that Buzzjack deemed her as the 5th best R&B artist of last year! August 6, 201014 yr Author 03 - ALICIA KEYS - 8.22 http://i34.tinypic.com/16k1a50.jpg Who'd've thought this time last year that Alicia Keys would have three top 10 singles from the same album, which just happened to reach #1 in the UK and go double platinum since? Nobody! 'The Element Of Freedom' is an incredible album which deserves all the praise it gets. Since September 2009, Alicia Keys has scored 4 top 10 hits, two of which have sold over half a million copies in the UK alone; the other two have gone Silver! 'Empire State of Mind' (the original version - with Jay-Z) spent 5 consecutive weeks at the summet of the Billboard Hot 100 at the end of 2009, which unfortunately for Alicia, didn't translate in sales for her solo version, 'Empire State of Mind [pt. II] Broken Down', which crawled in at #55 for one week on the album's release. Alicia has bagged herself 3 major performance slots in the UK for this album; The X Factor where she performed a medley of current singles 'Doesn't Mean Anything' and 'Empire State of Mind' plus 2007's US#1 'No One'; and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and Britain's Got Talent where she performed 'Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart' with a piano-breakdown. All-in-all, this era has been a huge success and despite the underperformance in the US, it's still Alicia's biggest era in the UK ever! August 6, 201014 yr Alicia :wub: Always been a massive fan but I never could have predicted how huge this era was for her. Element Of Freedom was pretty much faultless and I loved pretty much every track on it. Been consistent from the start of her career and long may this sucess last. Shame about the lacklusture effects in the US of course. Yawn at the final two. They're both facts who I use to adore but frankly i've heard enough of I Gotta Feeling to last me a lifetime, and no matter how many times everyone disagrees with me I still think of Rated R as a dissapointment.
August 11, 201014 yr Author Okay, the time has come for my dreams to be heard etc.! Here are the final results! I can reveal that the gap between the top two was less than 0.2 points and combined they scored a total of three 11s only! Okay - let's go! IN SECOND PLACE IS... ... 02 - RIHANNA - 8.78 http://i34.tinypic.com/29zwwld.jpg Probably coming as quite a shock to most, BuzzJack favourite Rihanna falls at the final herdal to the Black Eyed Peas! Rihanna drastically changed her sound and image for fourth album 'Rated R', showing a darker side to her music and a massive contrast to worldwide mega-hit 'Good Girl Gone Bad'. Although lacking in the big singles department, 'Rated R' is actually seen as better than the former by most, mainly because it has few filler and she manages to show emotion through her music for once! 'Russian Roulette' was not the comeback most expected and it fairly underperformed in most countries it was released in - although it reached #2 in the UK for two consecutive weeks (a feat that follow-up 'Rude Boy' would repeat three months later!) in November 2009. It had a fairly low peak in the US, being outpeaked by both the follow-ups, which killed the album quite quickly. Rihanna has so far managed three top 20s from the album in the UK (and two others peaked just outside) - although the full release of 'Hard' looks set to not manage the top 40 due to the singles' releases being quite messed around. Anyway - Rihanna looks set to release her 5th studio album at the end of 2010, with rumours going around that the lead single will feature BRITNEY SPEARS! The Black Eyed Peas OWNED 2009 with their album and constant flow of hits, achieving three UK #1s in the space of five months! The aforementioned hits have all sold over 600,000 in the UK and 'I Gotta Feeling' recently became the UK's 100th million seller aswell as the first ever song to pass 6,000,000 downloads in the US! They also achieved #1s in America with 'Boom Boom Pow' and 'I Gotta Feeling' aswell as a third #1 earlier this year with 'Imma Be'. All-in-all, they've had an astounding 18 or so months and there's not much else to say about them but I really hope their 6th album (which they've confirmed to be out Winter 2010!) lives up to 'The E.N.D.''s standard and they keep on churning out these mega-hits! uSD4vsh1zDA Highest scorer(s): 11 CianS 10 Theo. 10 Nick F1 10 gagafangleek 10 Lukuzz 10 gooddelta 10 AAC 10 Slowpoke 10 LaLa2586 10 MrLovett 7 Simon. 2 superbossanova ________________________________________________________________________________ On a side note - I'd like to thank everyone that's been reading this thread and contributing throughout and also to everyone who voted - without you this couldn't have happened![/cheesy] Edited August 11, 201014 yr by Theo.
