April 14, 201015 yr Author =08 - CIARA - 6.91 http://i44.tinypic.com/11ju046.jpg Another US R&B flopstar, yet Ciara managed to score a top 10 single with the opener to her last album! 'Love Sex Magic' (featuring Justin Timberlake) was an amazing pop-R&B duet, and possibly my favourite single of Ciara's overall. Parent album 'Fantasy Ride' became Ciara's 1st album to break the UK top 10 (peaking at #9), but dropped fairly quickly afterwards. The 2nd official single 'Work' (featuring Missy Elliott) hung around the lower ends of the top 100 for 7 consecutive weeks, but never rose higher than #52, ultimately killing the era, due to the song not being added to Radio 1's playlist. Ciara is set to release her 4th studio album this year, entitled 'Basic Instinct', but from the clip of single 'Ride' that I've heard, it's not set to be up to much; pity. April 14, 201015 yr Love Jordin. 'The Cure', 'Walking On Snow', 'Emergency (911)' could have been big hits for her! Love Ciara too. 'Work' is one of my fave videos of last year, easily. It was a great song too. Shame it flopped horrifically.
April 14, 201015 yr =08 - JORDIN SPARKS - 6.91 http://i39.tinypic.com/2vknwi9.jpg The most unlucky American Idol winner now, who managed to miss the top 10 three times with single 'Battlefield' last year, once with 'S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)' and once with parent album, 'Battlefield'. Both 'Battlefield's peaked at #11 and 'S.O.S.' peaked at #12! The album was very hit-and-miss, with a few amazing songs, and a few boring ballads. The 3rd single from the album, 'Don't Let It Go To Your Head', managed to miss the top 100 completely, as no video was produced, therefore killing what could have been a hit single! I hope for her 3rd album to show some progression as an artist, with more uptempos, and hopefully, just hopefully, another UK top 10 single. Either way it was one of the three worst albums I bought last year, utterly forgettable. Apart from the amazing Work of course  I liked Love Sex Magic too.
April 14, 201015 yr Jordin is ok but nothing amazing imo. Ciara I really like, 'Work' should have been a top 5 smash at least, it was immense!

Either way it was one of the three worst albums I bought last year, utterly forgettable. Apart from the amazing Work of course  I liked Love Sex Magic too. Ouch. :o I found it the same at first, but it's definitely a grower. The two UK singles were pretty brilliant, as was "I Don't Remember", if you don't mind subtle Ciara ballads. (actually, I usually can't stand them but I love it) In fact the only songs I'd skip past are "Lover's Thing" and "Like A Surgeon", no idea why the latter got a US release. For someone I've always considered a singles artist, she's not been so great at picking them lately. I can see your criticisms though, most of the songs are quite subtle and growers, but I think it's her best album. Jordin Sparks, on the other hand, was someone I never really gave the time last time. I'm not sure why, I think I liked the album (and the singles) but I didn't feel I needed to go back to any of the songs a whole lot. I suppose it was a bit of a let down after how much I loved "No Air".

I suppose it was a bit of a let down after how much I loved "No Air". I listened to it three times and gave up after literally nothing stuck. Never gone back to it, I subconsciously have a three strikes and you're out rule, if i still don't like something after three listens, I can generally never be bothered to hear it again. I've never heard any of ther other albums though. The only more bland album I bought last year was Zero 7's comeback which was a huge disappointment with nothing at all interesting about it, not even any decent singles/standout tracks which Fantasy Ride did at least have. The Battlefield album was great for about a month and since then I've never had the desire to go back to it, I much prefer her debut album (), even though you could argue that Battlefield is better produced, a lot of the songs sound the same to me...

Shame. :( I think I'm even more strict, it tends to be two listens for me, more if I really want to like it. Neither of her albums really grew on me, despite "The Evolution" supposedly being her best. :( I'm a bit slow on Zero 7, I only got around to downloading "Destiny" after hearing it used in the film "Obsessed" earlier this year. Think I might stick to that one track then. Yeah, it's far too samey, I was disappointed that she decided to go down the ballad route after saying she could either do that or go for a more dancy sound. I may have slightly held it against the album. I prefer her debut as well, it certainly has less weak links. 'Tell Me What Your Name Is' is Ciara's best ballad imo. Beautiful song. Oh yes, that's definitely one of the highlights of "Fantasy Ride". Surprised you don't like "I Don't Remember" best, like me, it has Ne-Yo on backing vocals. :o (or he at least did the demo, there's a fanmade 'duet' version on Youtube)

April 14, 201015 yr I do like 'I Don't Remember'. It's just not a favourite :( 'Tell Me What Your Name Is' & 'Work' are by far and away my favourites from FR actually. I didn't know Ne-Yo did the demo, so i'm gonna have to check out the "duet version" on youtube!
April 14, 201015 yr Ciara for me is just a very uninteresting artist. Like A Boy aside she's never produced something that i'd go back too though Work has really grown on me these past few months. The Fantasy Ride album was another non-event and not helped by the dire lead single which was absoultely appalling. Bland R&B as a definition is probably Ciara. Jordin one the other hand is one of my favourites. The debut album was extremly strong and I adored No Air but the Battlefield era was brilliant. The lead single was one of last years highlights and with the exception of a few tracks the album was utterly brilliant too.

Not wanting to veer too much off topic but as far as Zero 7 go, I'd Spotify the following if you like Destiny (in this order); Somersault, In The Waiting Line, Passing By and Home - those are my favourites, and three of that lot were singles. Other than that they're just a pleasant background listen albums wise. Destiny is gorgeous though, one of my favourite chillout tracks ever, if not my favourite  SOS (Let The Music Play) should have been what the album was based around in my opinion, rather than every song being yet another electro-r&b ballad, as nice as some of them were.
April 24, 201015 yr Author 07 - ALEXANDRA BURKE - 7.32 http://i41.tinypic.com/2j6485v.png Finishing just inside the top 10 is the 2nd female winner of UK talent show 'The X Factor', who's album is quite pop/R&B-tinged. Tracks such as 'The Silence', 'Overcome' and 'Gotta Go' show her amazing vocals, whilst 'Broken Heels', 'Dumb' and 'All Night Long' show a more fun side to her music. Alex has so far notched up three top 10 singles, and next single 'All Night Long' is set to be released next month, with rapper Pitbull (who finished 49th/50 on this countdown) as a single mix. I can't wait to hear the follow-up album to 'Overcome', and I'm hoping to see a few more R&B-inspired songs to reflect her true style. April 24, 201015 yr Hmmm, I was expecting Alex to be a posistion of 2 higher. Bad Boys was a fantastic pop anthem and her album was fairly great too - it lacked originality in some places though but on the whole was a very strong debut.
May 8, 201015 yr Author 06 - TIMBALAND - 7.35 http://i44.tinypic.com/14ddq9w.jpg There's no denying that Timbaland's had some pretty amazing songs in the past, but his 2009 album 'Shock Value II' was incredibly weak in comparison to it's predecessor 'Shock Value', and there are few songs on it that stand out for me, plus the fact that comeback single 'Morning After Dark' sounded tacky and dated. 'Lose Control', Carry Out', 'We Belong To Music' and 'If We Ever Meet Again' are my favourites from the album, and I really enjoyed the 4 singles from his last album, although have never got around to listening in full. May 10, 201015 yr Is this going to be finished anytime soon Theo? :kink: Anyway, Timbaland meh. I really don't care for him much anymore.
May 10, 201015 yr It was a weak album to be honest, If We Ever Meet Again aside of course since that was an absoulutely brilliant song. Has to be asked how the hell is he this high though?
