Posted July 7, 200619 yr I'll be including this as part of my weekly thread from now on but as its the first week I thought it deserved a thread of its own. From last Saturday all download sales from legitimate Irish sites will count towards the main Top 50 singles chart. There is also a separate Downloads only Top 20 the first of which is as follows (positions at the start are the songs position on the main chart) 01 01 Shakira ft Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie 03 02 Nelly Furtado - Maneater 07 03 Neyo - Sexy Love 02 04 Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker xx 05 Rihanna - Unfaithful 16 06 Mundy - July (Live) 06 07 Infernal - From Paris To Berlin 04 08 Pussycat Dolls ft Snoop Dogg - Buttons 17 09 Oakenfold ft Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussycat xx 10 Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man 11 11 Gnarls Barkley - Crazy 25 12 Shayne Ward - Stand By Me xx 13 Paris Hilton - Stars Are Blind 21 14 Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California 08 15 Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah 19 16 Razorlight - In The Morning 18 17 Sergio Mendes ft BEP - Mas Que Nada 27 18 Raconteurs - Stready, As She Goes 09 19 Pink - Who Knew 12 20 Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway
July 7, 200619 yr Is that 3 new entries just on downloads? It looks like Ireland is doing it the way we should be - letting all sales count any time -_-
July 7, 200619 yr Author positions at the start are the songs position on the main chart Maybe I've worded that badly - this is the downloads only chart! Those 3 aren't in the main chart as they haven't been released yet!
July 7, 200619 yr What dates are included for that download? I ask because the UK one released on a Wednesday only include sales upto the previous Sunday.
July 7, 200619 yr What dates are included for that download? I ask because the UK one released on a Wednesday only include sales upto the previous Sunday. Saturday to Thursday for this one it would appear. I imagine that next week it will align itself to the chart week, which is Friday to Thursday. The UK downloads chart week is the same as the physical sales chart week, Sunday to Saturday (not to a Sunday). The downloads chart is just held back in the UK as Radio 1 have broadcast rights to the chart until September this year, and that includes counting down the chart on a Wednesday. It's because when the downloads chart first began in 2004 it was compiled on a Monday night and verified on a Tuesday. Now the download sales data is included in the main chart, so the download chart is actually compiled before the main chart.
July 8, 200619 yr Is that 3 new entries just on downloads? It looks like Ireland is doing it the way we should be - letting all sales count any time -_- We should do this! Like the USA too, this would be good as then the sales could naturally fluctuate
July 8, 200619 yr Author OK! Just found out that it seems to be the same as the UK in that downloads can enter the main chart the week before release on CD! There's one example this week - Shayne Ward has entered at 25 with Stand By Me which was actually only available in the shops from Friday 7th.
July 8, 200619 yr as an irish chart watcher i really expected far bigger changes this week but downloads havnt affected it to much yet,a few singles are going back up but thats fairly normal move in the irish charts shayne ward did well on downloads so he could well achieve his 3rd number 1 in ireland next week
July 8, 200619 yr Author Actually the main difference I forsee is that some Irish acts will do less well because of the downloads - I'm thinking of those that might appeal to an older audience that wouldn't download - this week to an extent the Sullivan Brothers who weren't in the Top 20 Downloads. Also look at Pat Shortt's chart run with Jumbo Breakfast Roll 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 6 5 6 7 8 11 12 14 16 17 18 30. All those weeks till now dropping between 1 and 3 places and suddenly falling from 18 to 30 this week!
