Posted March 19, 201015 yr SARAH HARDING has become the third GIRLS ALOUD singer to announce she's working on solo material. Sarah, who unveiled this new mature look on Wednesday night, said at her Kanaloa club in London: "I'm starting my album now but I don't know what theme of music to go for. I want to step away from cheesy pop. "It's important for me to try to establish my own identity." She's doing herself down a bit. I'm told Sarah will be songwriting with top producers. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...o-material.html
March 19, 201015 yr Oooh exciting :o I've now accepted we won't get an other GA album before late 2011, so well, the more they release stuff on their own, the better for us to wait! I so want a Nicola album
March 19, 201015 yr Hmm interesting. but looking less and less likely for GA coming back. Oh and I also want a Nicola solo album (but I doubt it would EVER happen)
March 19, 201015 yr Author Cheryl said in her interview last night that Nicola was writing songs, so maybe?
March 19, 201015 yr Ooh, interesting!! :w00t: I'd like a solo album from each of the 5 girls, but if that happens, I know Girls Aloud would never return, so I don't want it to.
March 19, 201015 yr If Sarah does release solo material i could see her doing a rock chick kind of sound.
March 19, 201015 yr If Sarah does release solo material i could see her doing a rock chick kind of sound. That would suit her really well. Although I absolutely adored her song 'Too Bad' from the St. Trinian's soundtrack. I used to immensely dislike Sarah but she has really grown on me since the Out Of Control era, it's like she suddenly developed a personality after all these years.
March 19, 201015 yr What is happening to them? it's like they're following in the footsteps of the Spice Girls.. none of them will be very successful going solo anyway. <_< I can't see them getting back together if this is true. :(
March 19, 201015 yr Author Well Cheryl has been more successful than GA ever were, in terms of sales she's outsold all their albums (or at least will do within the next week or two), has a string of top 10s and all of her singles are selling well. On top of that she has had success outside the UK too. It remains to be seen whether that will continue, however with her profile and working with the top producers she is, I don't see much stopping her. And I think that's why a) nadine is taking longer and B) Sarah wants a go. I don't think Cheryl, the other girls or Fascination/Polydor expected Cheryl to do as well as she has. A number 1 single and album? Sure, for the album to go onto out sell all of GA's albums? Don't think anyone saw that coming. Her doing well in Europe is also pretty surprising, even both the quality of her work (let's face it, it could have been so much better) and how Girls Aloud failed. Plus, her single sales are still very strong despite the huge album sales. The Promise sold something like 400k, then TLK sold 130k and then Untouchable 100k FFTL sold 800k, but 3 words has sold over 280k (600k albums) by now and will eventually reach 300k (it already has, if we talk about worldwide sales, with over 35k in Australia), and Parachute is already over 140k (with 700k albums), which actually puts it on course to out sell 3 words, which was on 148k this Sunday in its chart run, whereas Parachute will probably be on about 165k or there abouts. And her album is still Top 20 in the charts! I don't think anyone saw Cheryl being THIS successful and that's thrown a spanner into the works because Nadine now has a HUGE up hill task to even have a portion of the success Cheryl has had and you know the press will rip her apart if her single fails to go straight to number 1. On top of this, Cheryl is now in big demand across Europe too, she is on one of Germany's biggest TV shows next month, performing on Denmark's X Factor, in a pop concert in Spain, etc. Then there is the BEP tour, V Festival and all that, she's busy. Plus The X Factor UK and possibly X Factor USA Meanwhile the other three are probably a bit like "I want a slice of that" and Sarah is having a go. Edited March 19, 201015 yr by outlook
March 19, 201015 yr I agree i dont think anyone expected Cheryls solo career to be the huge success that it it, i think everyone thought she would do ok but nothing amazing and we certainly didnt expect her album to outsell all the Girls Aloud albums apart from the Greatest Hits. The solo success can eventually be a good thing for Girls Aloud as if Nadine and Sarah manage to have successful solo career it will out alot of interest in Girls Aloud when they reform. My only worry is if the solo career are all successful none of them will want to return to Girls Aloud.
March 19, 201015 yr Fantastic news. I've always liked Sarah but like Aly said, she's really grown on me in these past few years especially during the Out Of Control era where she seemed to take a more leading role. I can definatly see her doing something very far apart from Girls Aloud's music and I think a more rock-based sound would suit her. I also would adore a Nicole solo album. Not so much a Kimberley album :P
March 20, 201015 yr Exciting news! Now we know there will be a longer wait until a new Girls Aloud album though. :P
March 20, 201015 yr I heard on the 4Music update thing that she said she wouldn't mind the album sounding a bit like Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster
March 20, 201015 yr I heard on the 4Music update thing that she said she wouldn't mind the album sounding a bit like Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster   Even I have to lol at that. I think only someone like GaGa can pull that sort of stuff off. But I guess a few tracks wouldn't hurt
