Pirate DVD's, do you buy them or watch them? Or are you like me, who detests them and all they stand for.

Pirate DVd's are made by criminal gangs who are into drugs, money laundering, etc, etc, so that £5 dvd you bought from the guy in the pub is contributing to serious crime.

Will the cinema be killed off in the end by this illegal trade unless it is stopped. Then there will be no films.

Do you care?

Well as someone who enjoys the whole movie experience, I do.

Never bought one and never will but I know lots of people who do.The quality seems to vary with some being poor and some near perfect.I detest them and all they stand for too.

Have bought them before but i wouldn't bother

They quality is never as good

Plus if you're that desperate you could always download from a P2P

But it's better to watch in the cinema or rent tbh

Not necesarily. A woman at my work's son does them - hardly a drug cartel. I am against pirate DVD's in the cases where people don't go to the cinema or buy proper DVD's. But occasionally I will buy a pirate DVD if I've been to the cinema and I've really liked a film I may buy a pirate DVD to tide me over untill the actual DVD release. I would never buy a pirate DVD without already seeing the film at the cinema or without planning to buy the film properly.

why buy a pirate copy when the release date from cinema to sell through is going so quick that the regular dvd will be 3.99 within about a month.

i've watched them if i never got round to seein them in the cinema but becuz they are usually really low quality i will buy the film if i like it

i'm like that with most cds, i'll download them to see what they're like or if i cant afford get them when they're out but i will buy them when i can

my cd playa and dvd player dont play copys very well anyway so i always try get original copys !

Well, as we speak I'm downloading AC/DC DVD's. But, it's legal. Some bands are "trade friendly" and allow you to download bootlegs of their concerts. Most bootleg sites go with an argument that they don't show any DVDs of commercial concerts (say Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains The Same Performance, or Live at Donington by AC/DC).

As for movies, it depends. I'll go on BitTorrent (usually a day or two after the release in cinema) and see if a copy of the movie is available. If I've heard mixed reviews about the film then I'll download it and see if I like it (usually by watching the first 10 minutes or so). If I do, I usually then go to the cinema and watch it for real. If I don't, I just delete the movie.

So you could say I'm in the middle.

But I never go in the street and buy a bootleg there; then you know the quality will be poor. Sometimes a bootleg quality can be excellent!
