June 11, 201015 yr Not sure if it'll be repeated. It's probably on catch up if you have Virgin. Shakira's performing Waka Waka again at the closing ceremony so hopefully she'll get some more exposure.
June 12, 201015 yr She wasn't on the opening ceremony at all, I was quite disappointed :( Anyway I have Sky but it's not on there, or iPlayer :( Thanks anyway!
June 12, 201015 yr I love how she has a huge international summer smash every 4 years or so  They might as well just always let her do the world cup single, Hips Don't Lie seemed to become something of an adopted one in 2006 anyway!
June 13, 201015 yr #38 in the Official Top 40. The video starts getting played next week so hopefully it stays top 40.
June 15, 201015 yr Well the fact it has made the top 40 is good in itself so anything more is a bonus especially after the disastrous chart performance of gypsy.
June 15, 201015 yr But the fact is, it's #1 all over Europe, just like Lena and Stromae were. The UK is so backwards sometimes :manson:
June 15, 201015 yr Top 35 in todays midweeks so it will hold top 40 again this week which is somoething.
June 17, 201015 yr Author The label says the song has held the No. 1 spot on the Mexican chart for five weeks in succession and is No. 1 in Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Luxembourg, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and host country South Africa. Sony is servicing a pop mix to U.K. radio this week and the original version is currently at number 38 in the chart. "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" is featured on the official World Cup album "Listen Up!" and may make the tracklisting of Shakira's next album, the follow-up to "She Wolf." Speaking to Billboard at her Johannesburg hotel, Shakira said the as-yet-unnamed bilingual album, due September, is a return to her roots. "I see it [the new album] as having two currents," she says. "One is a lot about love and love experiences and emotions. And the other side of it is very joyful, and upbeat." Shakira also revealed that the music on her upcoming set would reflect influences from both the Dominican Republic and Colombia. "It's a little more Latin on one side and a little more rock 'n roll on the other side," Shakira says. The singer plays the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury June 26 before returning to South Africa to perform "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" with Freshlyground at the World Cup's closing ceremony July 11.

June 23, 201015 yr I really like this song... it deserves to to better in the UK...I just dont understand the UK sometimes... soo many good songs just ignored for trash?! if it's not a rnb singer mixing with dance music.. it aint charting! ha
June 24, 201015 yr Agreed Jack. But this song is now at #20 on iTunes :o Not sure what caused the boost, but we could be looking at a new peak next week (probably too late for this one :()
June 24, 201015 yr Author now up to #1 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Also #1 in the French digital chart.
June 24, 201015 yr Nice to see people in the UK finally cottoning onto this. Hope it's Hips Don't Lie part 2 in terms of smashing with no Radio 1 airplay :P I wish they wouldn't play that god awful remix on the chart show though...
June 24, 201015 yr Brilliant this is. Definetly a grower. Definetly show of Shakira the way she should be as i now see why her She Wolf era wasn't doing too great and thats she gone downhill but this is right up with classic Shakira IMO. Don't care if it's football, it's a great song now. Video is brilliant too. Edited June 24, 201015 yr by True Blue Eyes
June 24, 201015 yr Author I really liked the She Wolf album, and I like that she doesn't stick with Hips Dont Lie tracks all the time. But yeah, this is the Shakira most people wanna hear
June 24, 201015 yr I definitely liked the She Wolf album, but it's my least favourite of hers since some of the mid-90's Spanish albums. Donde Estan Los Ladrones, Laundry Service and Oral Fixation Vol.2 are all up there amongst my favourites of all time, as is Grandes Exitos (her Spanish hits collection - she really needs an English one now by the way). I wasn't a massive fan of Fijacion Oral Vol.1 though I guess, but it grew on me over time. She's the most unique international superstar the world has in my opinion. She definitely still takes more 'worldy' sounds into the mainstream like nobody else can, and the likes of Did It Again could have been by anyone, whereas this is unmistakable Shakira.
June 24, 201015 yr I liked She Wolf too, but it was an album for the fans more than the general public. She should have had one ethno-pop stomper like this on the album to keep the GBP interested... Nice to see people in the UK finally cottoning onto this. Hope it's Hips Don't Lie part 2 in terms of smashing with no Radio 1 airplay :P I wish they wouldn't play that god awful remix on the chart show though... I guess that is the pop mix talked about. It just makes it generic as hell, and takes out one of the best bits (Freshlyground's rap). I don't know how you can make a song that's partly in an African langauge sound generic, but they did it :(
June 25, 201015 yr She was on the james cordon football show on the england match day, teaching the dance routine to waka waka... this is what caused the boost!
