Scottish indie legends Teenage Fanclub are to release their new album 'Shadows' on May 31st.

It's been a long time coming. Five years since Teenage Fanclub released the celebrated but none too successful 'Man Made' the Glasgow based indie bandits are ready to return with another batch of glorious pop.

Formed more than two decades ago, Teenage Fanclub have watched their brand of indie pop become the next big thing, fade into oblivion and then become current again.

Albums such as 'Bandwagonesque' merged the perfect pop of Big Star with noisy guitars, while 'Grand Prix' contained the self-explanatory 'Neil Jung'. However there was much to the band than subtle references and in-jokes, with Teenage Fanclub boasting the heart of a true romantic.

Growing older and wiser, the band rarely reach the noisy levels of their early years but the aching melancholy remains. Moving from joyous harmonies to downbeat acoustic laments, Teenage Fanclub are simply boast one of the finest back catalogues of their generation.

Now the Glasgow band have announced plans to add another album to this series. Teenage Fanclub are set to unveil new material on the Camden Crawl, before single 'Baby Lee' drop on May 24th.

Available on download and a trusty seven inch, the single precedes the album 'Shadows'. The band's first album in five years, the record will be released on May 31st.

Confirming details of a lengthy British tour, indie pop kingpins Teenage Fanclub are set to show these Brooklyn based kids just how its really done.

Teenage Fanclub are due to release 'Shadows' on May 31st. Tracklisting is as follows:

1. Sometimes I Don't Need To Believe In Anything

2. Baby Lee

3. The Fall

4. Into The City

5. Dark Clouds

6. The Past

7. Shock And Awe

8. When I Still Have Thee

9. Live With The Seasons

10. Sweet Days Waiting

11. The Back Of My Mind

12. Today Never Ends

I'm really excited for this release. Whilst they're never going to win any prizes for innovation or surprise us by suddenly going all electro on us, Teenage Fanclub's brand of heartfelt indie-pop still sounds fresh. Great that Baby Lee's the first single from the record, it sounded so great when I saw them live last year.

I hope it's a return to form, I've not really enjoyed one of their albums since the lovely 'Songs from Northern Britain'. Hoping to see them in June in Aberdeen though.
Looking forward to this they have done some cracking indie pop songs like What You Do To Me.
