April 22, 201015 yr Woo! Somebody else that LOVES So Young  my second favourite Corrs song! Haha, yeah. I do love it. I think it's because one of a few songs that takes me right back to late 1998 which was an amazing time so obviously a good thing. Very uplifting and just a great pop song. Plus it's not even remotely boring which so many of their songs unfortunately are for me. :( Still gets plenty of plays from me. Infact I made a CD a while ago of my favourite singles from 1998 and it's one of them on there, and since 1998 is one of my favourite years for music I play that CD quite a bit. Edited April 22, 201015 yr by superbossanova
April 22, 201015 yr My favorite is also an unpopular choice: Irresistible. Much better than Breathless which seems to be the only song people remember them by these days.
April 22, 201015 yr I actually would say Irresistible is pretty on par with Breathless for me - loved it at the time  My least favourite single from In Blue was Give Me A Reason which was fine but there were so many better potential singles on there, not least All The Love In The World.
April 26, 201015 yr Author Give Me A Reason was utterly marvellous, and I still believe it should have been the second single over Irresistible. Anyhow, I will be aiming to count down the results tomorrow if there are anymore votes still to come?
April 27, 201015 yr I recall getting Give Me A Reason on single when it came free with the Daily Mail with exclusive b-sides (only reason I bought the paper :heehee:). So I guess that explains why it didn't chart higher on official release.
April 27, 201015 yr Author I think I'm a little disgusted that The Corrs would associate themselves with the Daily HateMail. Results start tonight!
April 27, 201015 yr Author 27. Me And My Teddy Bear [sharon Corr] [#27 in the UK charts, 2009] (Average score: 1.625) 63L3KotfwLA&hl What an absolute embarrassment of a record! Liked by no-one (if we ignore Eduardo) and given a healthy dose of -1s, this formed part of last year's Children In Need single, with Sir Terry Wogan and Aled Jones singing "Silver Bells" as the other A-side. Which was also a crock of $h!t. On a positive note, Sharon looks stunning in the video for a woman nearing middle-age. But on the flip-side, there's no getting away from the fact that she's singing a bloody nursery rhyme to a stuffed toy. It's a shame to think that this stain on the earth will most likely be the last time a Corr ever appears in the singles charts :( Charity is never an excuse.
April 27, 201015 yr Author 26. Old Town [#68 in the UK charts, 2005] (Average score: 3.875) dazYPDGl_x8 Old Town had always been a favourite with The Corrs. It appeared on their MTV Unplugged set, and I gather it featured in a fair number of their live sets before aswell, so I guess it was inevitable that at some point we'd get a full-blown single release for it. I do wish they hadn't bothered; this is just too twee and dated to have ever worked for them as a hit record in the 21st century. At this point they were actively seeking out ways to hold ONTO their bland MOR tag.
April 27, 201015 yr Author Oh Dandy, I see we need to educate you on flop 90s girl MOR. 25. Heart Like A Wheel [#68 in the UK charts, 2005] (Average score: 4.25) wQPkcI8DVmo The flip-side to the double A-side release with Old Town, and this is just as forgettably bland. Really the entire Home album project was a bit of a letdown, it's just so MEDIOCRE. I hope in vain that they don't leave it as their final studio album. Departing with a whimper.
April 28, 201015 yr Good start! Me & My Teddy Bear is a massive cringefest. Old Town really was never a favourite of mine thanks to the horrendous horn section two thirds of the way through, I believe the first time I heard Old Town (on the Unplugged album) was the same time Cliff Richard's Millennium Prayer was #1 in the UK, with a similar dire horn section - so I associate the two songs :drama: I need to rate the Home album, for my own interest, I'm not sure it was as bad as people make it out to be...will do so in the 'listening to' thread.
April 28, 201015 yr Author 24. It's Not A Dream [sharon Corr] [#167 in the UK charts, 2009] (Average score: 4.56) 0sdRJZSp2Bg And the biggest selling single of 2009 is up next at #24. Poor Sharon's solo career hasn't been much of a hit with you lot, nor indeed the general public, although I don't think anyone really expected Sharon to be a Gaga million seller. It's Not A Dream is a pleasant enough little ditty, but also terrifically bland. I suspect even Magic FM would have turned their noses up at this schmaltz.
April 28, 201015 yr Oh dear :( I actually love this, it got as high as #4 in my chart and spent ages lingering in the top 10. I think it's beautiful  Where is her much delayed album!?!
April 28, 201015 yr Author Oh dear :( I actually love this, it got as high as #4 in my chart and spent ages lingering in the top 10. I think it's beautiful  Where is her much delayed album!?! I don't know but I wish she'd hurry herself. The cover of Smalltown Boy in particular intrigues me.
April 28, 201015 yr Author 23. Champagne Through A Straw [Andrea Corr] [DNC in the UK charts, 2007] (Average score: 4.63) b2vlUTVPayk So both Andrea singles trump both Sharon's in this countdown. I'm always a little torn on this one - I can see why Andrea went for this as a second single as it was the most poppy moment on her album, and the song subject may potentially have scored her a couple of column inches. On the other hand Pink had only covered the same subject a year previous on Stupid Girls, and to better effect, with Andrea's p***-taking of the Paris Hiltons of the world not being as obvious, direct or brutal. When it comes to celebrity bitching, I don't think anyone was ever going to be looking at poor inoffensive Andrea Corr. As it was, the single did f*** all, and album sales weren't boosted as a result, so it was all for naught :(
April 28, 201015 yr Author 22. Love To Love You [#62 in the UK charts, 1997] (Average score: 4.69) uePic9fRxTI The first of the early Corrs "smashes" to appear in the countdown. This one suffered, as have a few others, from not being very well-known and at all and racking up the ???s. This is quite a charming, if not groundbreaking, sing-a-long. I do enjoy the "break those pillars down" and the ensuing fiddling at the end. I think I'm probably just a sucker for all their early stuff because it was when they were actually making some attempt at sounding celtic, rather than just claiming to be and then running off with Shania Twain's husband.
April 29, 201015 yr Horribly low for Love To Love You. This was one of my instant standouts on Forgiven Not Forgotten, insanely catchy and an anthem for my early teenage years (along with nearly every other Corrs song :drama:)
April 29, 201015 yr SAY WHAT? Champagne Through A Straw is an utter delight. Shame on you all! I don't know how on earth that other, completely forgettable solo single of hers is a bigger Buzzjack hit.
May 1, 201015 yr Author 21. Closer [DNC in the UK charts, 1997] (Average score: 4.88) -Nqj6RS0y3s OUTRAGE!!!! There is no way on Earth that this bit of musical perfection deserves to languish below the likes of Would You Be Happier or Irresistible! I can only take comfort that it's low placing was mainly down to the ??? factor. YOU ALL NEED EDUCATING. Or alternatively EXECUTION.

I can only take comfort that it's low placing was mainly down to the ??? factor. YOU ALL NEED EDUCATING. Or alternatively EXECUTION. Like I said before, I find it to be like Fleetwood Mac covering The Carpenters particularly in the 'Close-air, close-air' harmonies. I like it but it's nowhere near a favourite and one of three tracks I used to skip on Forgiven Not Forgotten. They dropped it out of their tour setlist pretty quickly too (by Talk On Corners era wasn't it? :o) so I'm guessing they don't consider it amongst their best work, along with Would You Be Happier, 'the forgotten single'.
