There's no way either the Mirror or the Sun is going to swing this election eitherway. On the news earlier, they had a professor of some "politics in the media" course at City University, and he said it was simply a myth that newspapers hold an influence in elections. He said that even in 1992, research had showed there was just no evidence the Sun's election day front page had changed anyone's minds.

True Danny, I don’t think you could directly correlate a vote either way with a specific Election Day front header.

However it is an influence, the Sun’s powerful positive message trumps the Mirror’s negativity which as we’ve seen from reaction to the debates turns people off.

Yeah, it would be nice bu naive to think that there aren't at least some voters out there who haven't been swyaed by The Sun Says...

I hope News Corp commits collective suicide when we get the hung parliament they so desperately fear.

Apparently the Mirror have changed their front page last minute -

He looks like a snooker player from the early 80's with that haircut!

Anyway ... I was going to vote but I'm not now! It's pouring down outside and rain has always favoured the Conservatives ... apparently the last two elections they won it was persisting it down over most of the country (and proceeded to do so over their 'reign'.)

Only joking ... of course I will ... even though we're in a nice, safe Labour seat (and we have excellent services).

Just saw this post on Facebook -'Voting Tory is like masturbating. Loads of people d it but hardly anyone will admit to it'

Music Week has done a poll of people in the music industry. The figures were

Lib Dem 48.2%

Lab 30.4%

Con 21.4%

After taking two points off each party as the seats calculator I use assumes a certain level of support for other parties that would give

Lib Dem 474

Lab 139

Con 9 - yes, nine

It does show that the same system that works against the Lib Dems if their vote is around 35% works very much in their favour if it goes well above 40% as all the close second places turn into wins.

heading for hung.... no landslide that craig and chris confidently predicted.

There's still a load of seats to declare though Rob ... I fear that the slimy, moon-faced son-of-a-thatch could still get in there ... even if not by Craig's predicted landslide (I omit chris's prediction as I don't believe Chris or his alias VM exist.)

It's no longer possible. Hung parliament is only outcome of this election.

You do realise that David Cameron is from the moderate side of the party. He famously got booed by members of his own party in 2006 when he criticised some of the "divisive" policies of that witch at a Tory rally.

Indeed, that witch campaigned for David Davis to become the Tory leader in 2005.

Cameron is a Peel-ite (Sir Robert, although he claims to have also been a fan of the legendary indie DJ) not a Thatcher-ite, hence his views are palatable with my Centre-ist views.

thats as maybe richard, but i simply dont like him! he comes across as a slimey sound bite boy ... very much like harry enfields 'tory boy'.. i might be proven wrong, he might just be good, but atm in not convinced.

Oh come on, he's just Tony Blair Verson 2.0 FFS... More spin, more empty words, more bullsh!t.... I agree with the BBC 3 interviewer - "Same sh"t, different suit"...

I agree. Just as Tony Blair was the 'acceptable face of Labour' to appeal to Tory voters ... Cameron is put forward as the 'more acceptable face of Conservative' to win back those Tory voters and those Labour voters who are fooled by him.

I should imagine the Building For Schools program will be thrown out of the window now ... a shame ... as this was something that Labour should quite rightly be proud of.

Still ... we're stuck with him now ... we'll all have to just get on with it. I survived many years under the bitch-troll-from-hell, I'm sure I can survive the next (possibly) ten with Cameron at the helm.

Building For Schools Program? That sounds like "Building the Education Revolution" program which went horribly wrong in Australia.

Anyone see that Barack Obama style picture of Cameron the other day? Jeez! Tbh I think the media has played a small role in this election, almost all newspapers are routing for the Tories.

Daily Mirror, Liverpool Echo, Daily Record and Sunday Mirror supported Labour

Guardian and Sunday Observer supported LibDems.

More on the Tory side however.

Daily Express, Daily Telegraph, Sun, Times, Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, Evening Standard and News of the World.

The lack of Tory majority is quite a victory against the Murdoch media :D

I wonder how The Sun etc who ran such vile campaigns against Nick Glegg will deal with a Tory/Lib Dem coalition. ^_^

Keep in mind that The Sun is one of the most popular newspapers in the UK, (I believe it's also the best selling?)..
