Is the future of Superman at Warner Bros.? A look at the studio's forthcoming slate of 'tentpole' movies (released on Variety today and running up to 2011) cast further doubt on the franchise, with no place for another cinematic adventure for the 'Man of Steel' planned until at least 2012.

Only last week we reported on the legal battle between the studio, the estate of Superman creator Jerry Siegel and DC comics, with the latest legal ruling stipulating (as we understand it) that Warner has have to have a Supes movie in production by 2011.

The studios jam-packed production schedule - which includes the last two Harry Potters and the Green Lantern - casts doubt on the studio's ability to get a Superman movie in the pipeline by the deadline.

WB chief Alan Horn said at the trial that a Superman movie isn't currently in development, no script has been written and that the very earliest a pic would be delivered is 2012. This could pit it against Marvel's adaptation of The Avengers.

Not unexpectedly, the release schedule also shows no place for a third Batman movie, with Christopher Nolan still seemingly undecided on his further involvement with the franchise.

Another absentee from the list is New Line's adaptation of Gears of War, which - last we heard - was at the budget approval stage, with Chris Morgan having turned in a first draft of the script.

Not too fussed about no Superman but a minimum of 4 years for the next Batman is a but much no? Unless a huge reboot is planned, i dont really see another Superman for a LONG while...

WB better get their stuff sorted out though...

Yay I found the thread before starting a new one.

I think it's because everywhere is obsessed with vampires again atm! Think of all the stuff around with them in like True Blood, Twilight etc.

I won't be watching this. It will ruin the Buffy franchise by excluding everybody involved in the TV series.

Mother's Day Remake confirmed. Deborah Ann Woll aka Jessica Hamby on True Blood has signed on as co-star

David Mamet is turning his hand to one of the most tragic stories of the 20th century - that of The Diary of Anne Frank.

Mamet will write and direct the film, which according to Variety, will be an amalgamation of Frank's diary; Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich's stage adaptation, and Mamet's own take on the material.

Frank died at the age of 15 in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, but her diary - written over the two years she spent hiding with her family in the attic of an Amsterdam apartment - became one of the defining accounts of WWII.

A film version was previously released in 1959, and won an Academy Award for actress Shelly Winters.

Andrew Braunsberg (Being There) is producing alongside Mamet, who is currently hard at work on the script.

It was only a matter of time really... I cant believe its been 50 years since one was made so im not even the tiniest bit surprised that someone is turning it into a film

Underworld 4?

US, August 10, 2009 - Who knew that when Kate Beckinsale stepped into that leather suit and started battling the Lycans that the Underworld series would have been so successful.

Shock Till You Drop has gotten word that Screen Gems is currently considering a fourth installment in the series, a follow-up to the prequel film that released last year. Currently targeted for a January 21, 2011 release date, the film will be shot in 3-D, though it is unclear whether any of the principal cast members will return or where the film will be set in the Underworld timeline.

Telling the story of the ages-old conflict between the vampires and the Lycans, the Underworld series has been modestly successful at the box-office with Rhona Mitra taking over for Beckinsale in the badass leather ensemble. Stay tuned to IGN Movies for more on the film as it develops.

This looks interesting, I've read the book although I can't remember alot of it since it was so long ago.

Hope they do a good job of it

20th Century Fox has confirmed rumors from earlier this year that it will reboot its Fantastic Four franchise by announcing the hiring of Oscar-winning screenwriter (and, ahem, fanboy favorite) Akiva Goldsman to oversee the project. Before he became a producer on Jonah Hex, won an Oscar for scripting A Beautiful Mind, and made a bundle adapting Dan Brown's Robert Langdon novels into movies, Goldsman wrote the Joel Schumacher nipplefests Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.

Variety reports that Fox has also set Heroes and Green Lantern scribe Michael Green to pen the screenplay. The trade adds that since the reboot deals are just getting under way, it's too early to tell if any cast members from the first two films -- Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Julian McMahon -- will reprise their respective roles for the reboot. This contradicts reports from last March that claimed Fox wanted to completely retool and recast the franchise and replace director Tim Story.

The FF reboot news comes less than a day after it was announced that the Walt Disney Company had made a deal to acquire Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. Word of the deal instantly spurred speculation that Marvel (and, hence, Disney) would inevitably reclaim those properties of theirs whose screen rights were held by other studios.

But, as Variety points out, "Fox controls Fantastic Four in perpetuity -- as long as it continues making the films. Fox has the same arrangement on Marvel Comics properties X-Men, Daredevil and Silver Surfer. Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement."

oOo I love Underworld, If its as good as the others Ill watch it
Fox has hired a writer to pen a third movie in the Big Momma's House series.

Randi Mayem Singer, whose credits include Mrs Doubtfire, has been given the greenlight to begin work on the project.

Martin Lawrence starred in the first two movies, which followed the adventures of an undercover agent who disguised himself as an oversized woman. The two films, which were released in 2000 and 2006, grossed over $300 million (£183m) collectively.

Singer's other upcoming projects include Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's comedy The Tooth Fairy.

I don't see how they could reboot Fantastic 4?

Probably make it less childish, and have the new Marvel studio place do it.

A reboot could work fantastically for it. I don't want them to copy the whole way Batman has been re-worked, but the Fantastic 4 is really one of the BIG Marvel stories that is likely to garner good attention because it's pretty well known generally amongst just casual people. New cast, different graphics, different directors/scripts - could either turn out to be an act of genius, or a complete and utter flop !

Hmm,

I don't know if a 'darker' Fantastic 4 script would work though? And I think the visual effects where pretty much spot on, especially in the first one, with The Thing stopping that lorry on the bridge. Who knows though? As you've mentioned with Batman, they managed to reboot that, and it was fantastic!..

Keep in mind that Marvel is now owned by Disney(!) Dont be surprised if any following Marvel films are uber polished!

Oscar-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has confirmed that he will indeed make Kill Bill 3.

Entertainment Weekly reports that, while appearing on the Italian talk show Parla Con Me, Tarantino said "he will make another installment of his successful Kill Bill series, but that he wants there to be a 10-year break between the second and third film."

"That would put Kill Bill 3 with a 2014 release date and his star Uma Thurman at 44, just the right age to kick more ass," EW points out.

Maybe by then we'll finally see the home video release of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, the long-awaited box set that would combine both Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2 into one big film. Or perhaps now Tarantino will wait even longer to release it so as to include the third film in it.

What might the story be for the third installment? Well, Tarantino himself has reportedly said that a sequel might revolve around Nikki Bell's quest to avenge the death of her mom Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox) at the hands of The Bride in Vol. 1. Rumors swirled at the time of the first film's release that Tarantino had shot additional scenes with Ambrosia Kelley, the actress who played young Nikki, because he wanted to use the character in a future sequel.

/Film reported in June 2007 that Kill Bill executive producer E. Bennet Walsh revealed that Tarantino had "formulated the plots for two sequels which he plans to film in China. According to our friends at FilmIck, Kill Bill: Volume 3 would be the revenge story of two Crazy 88s killers whose arms and eyes were hacked by Uma Thurman in the first volume. Kill Bill Volume 4 would than focus on the battle between the daughters of Beatrix Kiddo and Vernita Green, an idea which Tarantino had been very vocal about during the film's theatrical release."

LOL!

Miley Cyrus’s name is spoken of so often lately but this time in connection with a possible future appearance of the young actress in a long-awaited movie.

The Hanna Montana star is rumored to be starring in the second Sex and the City movie alongside Carrie and co.

Blogs claim the Disney star is confirmed for the sequel- which has already started filming and will be released in 2010.

It seems a strange fit if true - since Miley prides herself on her Christian faith and is still only 16 years old. SATC meanwhile is known for being very explicit about sex and relationships.

According to some sites Miley Cyrus is set to make a cameo appearance in the new Sex and the City film in a scene with Kim Cattrall. Kim's character, Samantha Jones, is invited to an exclusive showbiz event and wants to look 'hot and young'. But when veteran Samantha turns up on the red carpet next to the much-younger Miley, the two are wearing the same dress!

We can only imagine what Samantha's reaction will be...

Miley will be shooting the scene in New York next month, but MTV.com claims the scene may not make it into the final film.
