Posted April 15, 201015 yr Rex Features Heidi Range has sought to end speculation on the future of the Sugababes. Reports of a split started after rumours that the band had been dropped from their US label Roc Nation. However, a recent message posted on the group's official website stated: "We have never been 'signed' to Roc Nation for a scheduled album release in America." Range, who is currently promoting a new fitness class with Virgin, has now confirmed that the band are recording new material and are not splitting up. She said: "That rumour has been flying around for the past nine years! "If we were going to split up I'd just come out and say it but we're actually having a great time. We're off to India next week and then we're back in the studio to record some new tracks."
April 15, 201015 yr Author New tracks? I hope they are not re-releasing that mess of an album they call 'Sweet 7'.
April 15, 201015 yr I think they are. I still haven't bought it so if the re-release is any good I will. But I think they should move on the studio album no. 8 instead of re-release.
April 15, 201015 yr Re-releases are for successful albums, flop albums like that are rarely re-released.
April 15, 201015 yr Author Re-releases are for successful albums, flop albums like that are rarely re-released. True. However, Jamelia's 'Thank You' bombed first time around and then she went into the studio again, recorded some tracks and re-released that $h!t. It went on to sell double platinum. Mind you, that album was pretty good lol.

"you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig" - Barack Obama Sums up this news for me, only thing that would make S7 worthwhile would be releasing S7 with Keisha not Jade. Otherwise any new material will still have Jade and will sound dire so it's pointless
April 15, 201015 yr What insane record company would possibly invest in another album from an act that struggles to sell 20k and are an industry laughing stock?
April 15, 201015 yr One that had previously been crowned the most successful girlband since the Spice Girls. I want a 8th album instead of a pointless Sweet7 rerelease. Not even an About You Now could save that album.

Not even an About You Now could save that album. An 8th album is pointless, waste of time and money They should bring out an updated Greatest Hits and then call it a day or reform under Keisha/Mutya/Heidi Album 8 with Jade in the line up is a lost cause
April 15, 201015 yr They are over. An eighth album would pretty stupid of their label. It will probably sell less than Sweet 7.
April 15, 201015 yr Their glory days of albums selling in huge numbers and being the UK's most sucsessful girlband are well behind them but I still think they can be sucsesful if all the right elements are in place. They need to get their edge back tbh - can they do that, who knows but if they take inspiration from some of the earlier Sugababes albums like Angels and Three and try and base the 8th album on that they should give it a go assuming Island are willing to let them continue of course.
April 15, 201015 yr Author THEY never had an edge. Like it or not, this group is different. Aside from "About You Now", they haven't been that great. This new line-up needs to chill out for a minute, live life, get inspired and see what they come up with. Forget going into the studio already.
April 15, 201015 yr The edge was lost when Mutya flounced out over Red Dress being release as a single. They ain't getting it back. A rebrand and then relaunch for album#8 is the best way to push them forward. Cut their ties with the brand name that's now worthless.
April 15, 201015 yr The sugababes are so expired. No one has seriously considered the biggest girl group since the spice girls for like 4 years. Even when they had the impressive sales oh so long ago they never had the celebrity status of the spice girls or even other uk girl groups... Idk why theyre being given another chance. They should just pull the plug on the terminally ill patient that their career has become. However, a recent message posted on the group's official website stated: "We have never been 'signed' to Roc Nation for a scheduled album release in America." and about america... O-QuiJQ7CiE 1:48 and 6:15 LOL at the back tracking in their statement... Edited April 15, 201015 yr by shakilover

Even when they had the impressive sales oh so long ago they never had the celebrity status of the spice girls or even other uk girl groups... Who knows what you're on about with the whole 4 years ago thing but whatever anyway the whole never having as much of a media profile as the likes of Spice Girls and Girls Aloud arguably was another factor which kept them slightly more 'classy' maybe - there were no sold wedding to OK or trashy adverts for the lottery. The group did have an edge over bands like GA and AK imo. This was a good 7-8 years ago now admittatly and back when GA had yet to build up theirs.
