Posted March 18, 200619 yr From the week after next, woolies will be changing around their music charts a bit. They'll be keeping artist, compilation and singles, and adding a new one called... "The cheap chart". All I know about it so far is that it will be priced from £3.97 and feature previous albums from artists currently in the chart! Sounds a bit $h!t to me. What do you all think?
March 18, 200619 yr Author lol, I know! I don't see the point of it when they usually have stuff like from £4.97 promotions. They're taking space away from artist albums in most stores, and scrapping singles in some stores to make way for this crap!
March 18, 200619 yr Sigh. Wollies have been scrapping singles in alot of stores. Smacks at desperation!
March 18, 200619 yr Author They cut down in most stores, I think - if not all. But I think these are the first stores to get rid of them completely. I thought my store would be one of the first as we're tiny, but we're keeping them for now.
March 18, 200619 yr Well I did hear on the grapevine Woolies were changing their single policy, this could spell a disaster for the music industry, especially towards the single chart.

Well, if Orson do get to Number 1 tomorrow, it will be due to downloads by miles, they are way lower on physicals only. Actual non digital sales have been decreasing dramitically over the last year, and will only get lower over time.
March 18, 200619 yr doesnt sound like a terrible idea... ? i dont see the problem with it, easily locate the good sales stuff and free up places in the actual album chart that are taken up by re-entrys of old albums or for example the back catalogue of jack johnson that they decided to stock this week

March 18, 200619 yr Well, its not that bad an idea, its just the removal of singles that makes it a bit worrying. It does sound very worrying indeed, percentage of the woolies stock goes towards the chart
March 18, 200619 yr It sounds like the old "budget" chart to me. though budget albums cant get in the charts though. think these will as they are offers. think in our price led society this is a goood idea
March 18, 200619 yr It does sound very worrying indeed, percentage of the woolies stock goes towards the chart its about 20% isnt it?
March 18, 200619 yr Well sales are gonna hit all time lows if Woolies remove singles completly surely other big name stores will follow suit? And downloads may be making up a large amount of sales to the chart these days but still the charts would become even more dire than they are now :(
