Posted April 22, 201015 yr The Fratellis have confirmed that they have split via a message on their official website. The message, posted by the group's frontman Jon Lawler, revealed that the band's members are all working on individual music projects. "We have no plans to work together right now," he said. "Sometimes things just work out that way. Mince, Baz and I are working on music but not with each other. Your passion is appreciated more than we will ever be able to say. We'll forever give our hearts and souls to music and to you guys who want to hear what we do." Fans paid tribute to the trio, with one posting the message: "You guys changed my life. Thank you for the wonderful music, memories and everything else." The Fratellis rose to fame in 2006 with their debut album Costello Music before winning a Brit Award for 'Best British Breakthrough Act' in 2007. Sad to see, their second album was a bit average but Costello Music was great. Heard good things about Jon's new band (Codeine Velvet Club?) so hopefully not the last we hear of them.
April 22, 201015 yr Oh well. One of those bands with a few good songs from the first album and a total disaster second album. No great loss, they come and go. -_-
April 22, 201015 yr A shame, but 'Codiene Velvet Club' is better than either Fratellis albums IMO so no great loss. They had some good tunes though. Even their second album was good in places.
April 22, 201015 yr I actually thought their first album was alright at the time, but I've had no desire to listen to it for the last few year tbh. As for their second album, the less said the better. I didn't ever hear the whole album, but 'Mistress Mabel' was enough to put me off completely. Dreadful song. By splitting up, they're doing what Razorlight should've had the sense to do after their debut to be honest! (Well, perhaps after the second, as it was much more successsful, even if it was $h!te)
April 23, 201015 yr Not the worst post-Arctics band, but definitely victims of the success of Chelsea Dagger. The thing I didn't like was the fact the singer was a Glaswegian with a ridiculous put-on Sheffield accent - listen to their first EP, when I heard they were Scottish I thought "really?"
April 23, 201015 yr mega average band tbh. i agree imho they seemed to lack individuality, much like alot of recent 'indie' bands.
April 23, 201015 yr *hopes for similar announcements from The View, The Corteeners, Scouting for Girls, The Feeling, The Kooks - althought knows that these are not likely*
April 23, 201015 yr its not the right time for these bands to release new material - they will have to wait for indie to come back to be commercially sucessfull!!
April 24, 201015 yr *hopes for similar announcements from The View, The Corteeners, Scouting for Girls, The Feeling, The Kooks - althought knows that these are not likely* The Courteeners new album is a huge improvement from their debut.
April 24, 201015 yr Author *hopes for similar announcements from The View, The Corteeners, Scouting for Girls, The Feeling, The Kooks - althought knows that these are not likely* SFG seem to be here to stay for another album, "This Ain't A Love Song" is at least pretty good. The Courteeners have become a very decent band and The Kooks are alright but probably didn't merit the success over two albums. Wrote some good singles, mind.

April 24, 201015 yr Scouting for Girls. Seriously. They're fukking awful! - On the news of The Fratellis, not really bothered. Didn't like them at all.
April 25, 201015 yr Agreed no loss really. Good first album, 2nd was horrible. I echo the sentiment that they were victims of their own success with Chelsea Dagger. "indie's" pretty unpopular at the moment, so I think it's wise that quite a few of the bands have given up/are staying on the low a little bit.
