Great to see some love for 'In The Sun'. Great track that's managed to continue climbing since entering my chart four weeks back.

 

Also nice to see your love of 'Skinny Genes'. I was meant to chart it last week but completely forgot about the track after reading the UK top 75 singles thread and realised I'd missed it out. However, it probably woukdn't have entered any higher even last week - for me, its no. 23 position is about right for me. It's good but it's not brilliant.

 

Haven't you heard 'Alors On Danse'? Granted it's not in English but it's taking Europe by storm and I'm fascinated by the song and how much the Europeans are loving this song. It's excellent in a really quirky way - lyrics are actually really clever when translated into English.

The Killers 'Human' still holds the record longest chart run with an extraordinary 28 weeks in my top 40.

I can understand why some people would be put off 'Gypsy' because of how Shakira sings parts of the song. For me, I think it's a nice enough song - worthy of making my top 40. It's still not Shakira at her absolute best.

'Alors On Danse' is easily Europe's most successful non-English language song, that I can think of, since 'La Tortura' by Shakira feat. Alejandro Sanz. I think O Zone 'Dragostea Din Tei' was the last big non-English language track that became a monster hit across Europe and made top 3 in the UK.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought. I was expecting 'Naturally' to either be an overblown Disney ballad or an average midtempo run-of-the-mill pop track. I was very surprised when I heard it.

To be fair though, 'Bad Romance' deserves to be overplayed. It's that good...and like I say, I'm still not bored of hearing the track. I genuinely think it's a pop perfection. Much better than 'Just Dance' and 'Poker Face'.

Overall, I thought the whole 'She Wolf' era was very disappointing. The track 'She Wolf' was ok but got boring really fast as its novelty wore off. 'Did It Again' I'm gobsmacked the record company thought it was good enough to release as a single - it's clearly a very poor song. 'Gypsy' is far superior to 'DIA' but still not as strong as 'She Wolf' with its disco sheen, wolf whistles and typically Shakira lyrics. :lol:

It's one of the biggest hits in Europe at the moment. I suspect you'd hate the song though but you can check out the video below:

 

 

It's not really one of those instant "wow, tune" type songs. I've found myself liking this song more everytime I've listened to it hence it's progession up my chart rather than going straight in at #1.

 

The genre is a combination of dance and rap. There's a sharp synth melody that plays throughout the entire song. The lyrics are in French but I still like the song regardless. I translated the lyrics on Babel Fish and the basis of the song is one mans description of his life comparing one good thing with one bad thing. For eg "for every marraige there's a divorce" or something along these lines.
