And there's more...

This is just fukkin' sublime, my lord she looks and sounds like an Angel....

The Gathering - You Learn About It

The Gathering - All You Good People

The Gathering - Even The Gods Are Afraid

The Gathering are ostensibly a "rock" band from Netherlands, but they've gone through so many different styles in their career that they're seriously hard to pin down.. All these tracks are from "Souvenirs" album, which is probably their most atmospheric and ethereal... "How To Measure A Planet" and "If Then Else" are top ones too....

And in a similar vein - a few from the magnificent Anathema...

Anathema - Natural Disaster

Anathema - Are You There

Anathema - Inner Silence

6 songs (but what songs!)

The Field - Sun & Ice

The Field is the Swedish musician Axel Willner. His album ''From Here We Go Sublime'' was the best of 2007 according to Metacritic (2nd was Burial - Untrue). A bit of patience is required because it builds slow.

Ladytron - Beauty*2

This song will melt your heart...

Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea

Haunting

Slowdive - Shine

Sublime song! My fave shoegaze song ever

Burial - Ghost Hardware

Haunting (2)

Garbage - You Look So Fine

YLSF is their most ethereal song in my opinion. With superb vocals and production, this is just perfect. 'Milk' is also in the same league.

@Grim: I like The Gathering from what I've heard so far (two albums: if_then_else & Souvenirs). Too bad Anneke van Giersbergen (vocals) left the band a few years ago.

@everyone: please post also the artist/title before embeded videos. Some people check this site with mobile phones (sometimes) and can't see the videos.

Here's a track from a band I just found out about. New album Rocket Fire was released a couple of weeks ago.

Tori Amos - Mountain

Just stunning from 2:52 onwards.

Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place EP

I actually melted when I heard the strings version of this. There's something quite imperfect about the full length version, maybe it's just that the percussion grates on me, and I guess the strings numb this.

It certainly becomes a lot more corny, but I can live with that.

Maybe not quite so peaceful and reflective, but it manages to be energetic and frantic whilst still being ethereal and dreamy.

A few months ago I discovered two amazing artists, Solar Fields and Carbon Based Lifeforms:

Solar Fields - Sol

Carbon Based Lifeforms - PhotoSyntesis

Another excellent ethereal/chillout songs:

Single Gun Theory - Fall

Primal Scream - Autobahn 66

The Hundred in the Hands - In to It

Telefon Tel Aviv - The Birds

Ott - The Queen of All Everything

Lemongrass - Cafe de Paris

2 Bit Pie - Little Things

Autechre - 444

I recommend you to check all these tunes...
