Louis' latest find

01 May 2010

Louis Walsh launches his new girlband in Belfast's Odyssey Arena tomorrow night supporting Westlife.

Never one to undersell an act, Louis rang The Diary this week to assure us "we would be blown away" by his latest finds.

"They're incredible. They've got 30 songs and every one a hit," he told us.

The 'Where We Are' tour reaches Dublin's Croke Park on June 5.

It took them so long to think of a name for themselves and Wonderland is the best they could come up with?

Oh well. At least we have another flop girlgroup to add to the ever increasing pile.

The name is terrible and after taking so long to chose the nam ethey definitly could have come up wih something better. I have a feeling this band will be on the lines of Bellefire, now dont get me wrong i loved bellefire they were hugely underrated in the UK, but there doesnt seem to be a huge market for that style in the UK, they may do quite well in Ireland as there is mor epotential for that style of music, Bellefire done quiet well here but an Irish career only doesnt pay in the music buisness.

In Your Arms is awesome! You can download Nothing Moves Me (Acoustic Demo) for free by entering this code on www.wonderlandofficial.com : 75349

the name has grown on me already. You can call them the girls of Wonderland or Wonderland the band lol

Wonder Girls plus Sugarland plus The Corrs plus The Saturdays plus Dixie Chicks plus Girls Aloud equals Wonderland

I noticed most of their songs start with "Not": Not a Love Song, Not Ready to Make Nice, Nothing Moves Me Anymore (which was a grower and now it's been stuck on my head). is that for a reason? Hopefully not because they will have an impression that they are pessimistic.

I don't think they will flop as they will the gap that The Corrs has left. It was reported that one of the Corrs' has wrote song/s for the band. I'm excited to hear those :)

'In Your Arms' is my favourate song so far in 2010.

I really like these girls, Sharon is a world class singer, brilliant voice.

I have to admit although I was looking forwards to their launch I was hoping Louis wouldn't put them down the same route as Boyzone and Westlife (as much as I love those groups) it wouldn't work for girls, but he didn't and they are quite frankly amazing. Great uptempo's, beautiful ballads. I'm glad that they aren't doing the traditional girlgroup style of pure pop as it seems the UK haven't been taking to it in 09 and so far this year.

'In Your Arms' - sounds really good  I actually cannot wait to hear a studio version of that!

'Is It Just Me?' - sounds pretty bland tbh. Maybe a studio version would be better.

'Nothing Moves Me Anymore' - Nice song. Their 'Issues' maybe?

'Not A Love Song' - It's alright. Forgettable though.

They have potential. I desperately wanna her 'In Your Arms' though. Also I think 'Nothing Moves Me Anymore' will be best done acoustically, but we'll probably get a proper produced version of it. (which is why I was comparing it to 'Issues'). But I think they're alright. better than I thought they would be anyway.

Interesting, I would have put 'Is It Just Me?' as their issues. As they have given 'Nothing Moves Me Anymore' away as a free download I'll be suprised if it gets release, although the studio version could be a lot different.

For me:

'In Your Arms' - Best song so far in 2010, catchy and fun!

'Is It Just Me?' - A massive grower, become my second favourite, that one line 'Is it just me?' is now stuck in my head and won't go away (not that I really want it too).

'Nothing Move Me Anymore' - Really like it, but hope the album version has different production and a bit more punchy.

'Not A Love Song' - I just adore this.

Not a patch on The Saturdays  , mmm Just ok I can see them flopping though.
Looks lik ethey wontbe releasing anythng for a while a si read on teletext today they are doing a show on the band and how they picked the members etc and it will aired at the end of october, im assuming it will be aired as they release their debut single.

I have a feeling it will more likely tie in with an album release, their first single in the summer, off the back of Croke Park then second single/album in Oct. Or the doc will be them launching in the UK after a few singles in Ireland. What did it say on teletext? As there have been a few articles floating around that suggest Louis and Kian are launching another group, I presume it's just the way it's written but it talks about them auditioning people now and mentions Kian having experience of launching Wonderland.

[EDIT] Jodi has confirmed it's not true anyway.

[EDIT3] Now Kian was on rte 2fm radio today and said it was true and it would be the launch of Wonderland, showing them on the tour and them releasing their first single (which will be out late summer).

Also, the girls were on Xpose last night. I love how down to earth they all are, I can't post the link as I don't have 20posts yet, but just put in 'Wonderland Jodi Kasey' in youtube and it's the second video.

[EDIT2] They also were in the Irish Mirror today and an interesting quote from Jodi...

"We're coming out with a really strong video and some brilliant songs."

So it seems they already have a video... exciting stuff! :)

What's Jodi's secret then?

A member of two different girl groups ten years apart and doesn't look any different whatsoever

Debut single will be 'Not A Love Song' confirmed by Jodi last night at a gig and Sharon on twitter today. They will be performing it on 'This Morning' on Monday, which will be their first UK tv appearance.
I don't really have to much interest in these. They don't look like anything special. More Girls Can't Catch than Saturdays.

Edited by Kuki Sanban

don't even think they are something special. .. agree saturdays are better. . .

Their official youtube uploaded this a few days back.

In fairness the saturdays have been around for about 3years now, if you didn't find them more interesting at this point then it wouldn't say much about the UKs only girlband right now would it. I'm a fan of both The Sats and these, but am deffinely taking to these much quicker, their live vocals are very strong, very strong!

Not a Love Song - debut single, co-written by the band members.

First UK appearance: This Morning

Hmm... well it's something 'new'. Haven't seen this kind of a girl group for a while. The members don't seem to fit each other well... it's not a complete package. I don't expect it to do anything, it's a bit too Dixie Chicks. It's decent enough.
