KEANE - ONLY THE 5TH ACT TO.....

By going to No.1 with 'Night Train', Keane are only the 5th Act - and 3rd Group

- to reach No.1 here with their first 4 Albums. 'Night Train' is actually an 8 Track EP.

The only Acts to reach No.1 with their first 4 - or more - Albums are:,

1) BEATLES - First 7 at No.1 (1963 - 1966)

2) ROBBIE WILLIAMS - First 5 at No.1 (1998 - 2002)

('Life Thru A Lens' was released in 1997, but it did not reach No.1 until 1998).

(He'd previously had 3 No.1 Albums in Take That. (1993 - 1996). He left Take That

in 1995, but sang on most of the Tracks on their 1996 No.1 'Greatest Hits' Album).

3) GEORGE MICHAEL - First 4 at No.1 (1987 - 1998)

(He'd previously had 2 No.1 Albums in Wham!) (1983 - 1984)

4) BOYZONE - First 4 at No.1 (1995 - 1999)

5) KEANE - First 4 at No.1 (2004 - 2010)

(I was surprised to see that they formed in 1995, but did not release

their Debut Album - 'Hopes & Fears' - until 2004 ).

NOTE - COLDPLAY - They'd have achieved it, (4 No.1's - 2000 - 2008), had not a

'Live 2003' Album been released, in 2008, & reached No.46. Its No.46 Peak came

between their 3rd & 4th No.1 Albums.

LADY GAGA - THE 1st SOLO FEMALE TO HAVE 2 UK TOP 5 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME

By having the No.3, ('Remix'), & No.4, ('The Fame'), Albums this Week, Lady GaGa becomes

the first Female Solo Act to manage 2 simultaneous Top 5 Albums, in the UK.

LADY GAGA - ONLY THE 6th SOLO FEMALE ACT TO.....

She's also only the 6th Female Solo Act with 2 simultaneous UK Top 10

Albums.

1) MADONNA (1985)

In 1985 she was in the Top 10, with 2 simultaneous Albums, from

W/E 17th August to W/E 19th October. (10 Weeks/Charts).

They were, 'Like A Virgin' & 'The First Album' - formerly called 'Madonna'.

During the 10 Weeks, they did this in the Top 10:,

'Like a Virgin' - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 3

'The First Album' - 10 - 6 - 6 - 9 - 8 - 8 - 9 - 7 - 8 - 9

2) SHANIA TWAIN (2000)

She had 2 Top 10 Albums, from W/E 18th March 2000 to W/E 15th April 2000.

During that 5 Week/Chart period, they did this in the Top 10:,

'Come On Over' - 8 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 8

'The Woman In Me' - 9 - 10 - 7 - 9 - 9

Then she managed it for a 6th Week - also in 2000.

W/E 29th April 2000

'Come On Over' - 7

'The Woman In Me' - 10

3) DIDO (2004)

She achieved it for 3 Weeks - W/E 10th January 2004 to W/E 24th January 2004

'Life For Rent' - 2 - 1 - 1

'No Angel' - 9 - 8 - 9

4) AMY WINEHOUSE (2007)

She managed it for 1 Week - W/E 29th December 2007

'Back To Black Deluxe' - 9

'Back To Black' - 10

NOTE - The OCC has changed its Chart Rules since then, & they'd now

combine the 2 Albums in the Chart - giving it higher Positions - but only 1

Chart Entry. So, Amy Winehouse would not have achieved it under current

Chart Rules.

5) P!NK (2009)

She achieved it in 2009 - but, one of her 2 Top 10 Albums was a 4 CD Box Set,

of her 4 Albums prior to 'Funhouse'. So - in a way - she had 5 Albums in the Top

10, at the same time. However, as 4 were in a Box Set, it only counts as 1 Top 10

Entry. (At the time, some P!nk Fans wanted her to be credited with 5 Top 10 Albums

that Week - meaning that 4 of them would have been shown as ALL being at No.7! )

Would I be right in saying that #3 is the highest position a remix album has ever had?

I've looked through chartstats.com and the highest I can find is the #4 peak of Jennifer Lopez' 'J To Tha L-O - The Remixes'

GAGA IS OFFICIALLY A LEGEND IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!

Bray - By entering at No.3, 'Remix', by Lady GaGa, is the highest Charting 'Remix' Album by a

Solo Female.

In 1981, 'Love & Dancing', by the League Unlimited Orchestra, reached No.3.

It was really a Human League Album. It had 7 Remixes off 'Dare' on it, plus,

a Remix of 'Hard Times' - which had previously been the 'B' Side of 'Love Action

(I Believe In Love)', in 1981. ('Hard Times' was not on 'Dare').

In 1997, 'Blood On The Dance Floor - History In The Mix', by Michael Jackson,

was No.1 for 2 Weeks. That had 8 Remixes of Songs from 'HIStory', (1995), on

it - plus 5 New Songs.

The 'Love' Album, was a UK No.3 Hit in 2006, & that consisted of 26 Tracks that

were Remixes of Beatles songs.

So - Lady GaGa is the first person, to reach the Top 3, with a Remix Album, that

is soley made up of Remixed Tracks from her previous Album. (Or Albums - if you

count 'The Fame' & 'The Fame Monster' as 2 Albums).

So it's the fourth #3 hit for an album containing only remixes (MJ doesn't count as it had new songs).

Wow, if only Keane had dropped a bit over the week and landed at #3 (The Remix was ~6k behind Night Train in the end) she would have properly broken a record.

Bray - You said:,

"it's the fourth #3 hit for an album containing only remixes (MJ doesn't count as it had new songs)".

No - it is the 3rd top 3 Remix Album - if we leave out the Michael Jackson one.

'Love And Dancing' - League Unlimited Orchestra, (Human League) - No.3 (1982)

'Love' - The Beatles - No.3 (2006)

'The Remix' - Lady GaGa - No.3 (So far) (2010)

Notice that hers is the first one not to have the word 'Love' in the Title!

Oops, I meant third

That last fact is so random I'm gonna go drown a fish.
