Sprawl II does seem indebted to the late 00s trend of indie/electro. Reminds me of The Knife.

best band ever...?

of the decade?

or anything...

who really cares about it?who reallt cares about the hype?

we should be glad to have these days bands like them

the only thing i know is that Arcade Fire did it again (3/3) and released an excellent album.

already love it with the first listen...

I think Space puts it well, they arent the best band ever, but we should be glad we have a band who consistently release great albums.

there are plenty of other bands who do that too though lol (the mountain goats, the national, xiu xiu, neko case, the new pornographers, woods) and i could literally go on for hours

it's not like arcade fire are the only ones with the ability to be consistent

like i said, album = a bit of a letdown, too long and only a couple of really great tracks. they need to learn to EDIT. it's better than neon bible though, i think? but i didn't like neon bible.

This album is SIMPLY SCRUMPTIOUS. I just love those moments where they sound like they did on 'Funeral'. I'm TRULY hearing more of a Montrealan twang in there. Mhm hmm for sure Honeybees!!
this is a really good review ive just read about the album (independentmusicreviews-paddy.blogspot.com)

Sprawl II is definitely the highlight on first listen...

I do think that 16 tracks and over an hour is a bit too long for an Arcade Fire album.

Me too, 16 tracks did seem a very long time. There isn't a lot of variety here either, it's all merging into one on first listen. A shame. :(

The second half did seem stronger than the first though so maybe it's one to persevere with.

Which cover did everyone end up with? I got the one in the bottom left:

I listened to it earlier and it's not bad, but I agree that it is a bit lengthy. Sprawl II and the first two tracks were the best for me, but I'll give it another listen later this week. I think I prefer it to Neon Bible even though that album had more stand out tracks, but I doubt they'll ever top Funeral which was just perfect.

And in answer to Dandy's question, I got the top right cover.

I got the palm tree one, didn't know I had an option though o.o

Yeah I tend to agree with what everyone's already said, too many tracks, a bit samey with the stand out being Sprawl II. Bit dissapointing :(

Oooooo, a black square! :o Is that like the super limited edition or something? :D

This has grown on me on second listen, I'm liking Half Light II (No Celebration), The Suburbs, Month Of May, Deep Blue, We Used To Wait and the 2 Sprawls... the section from Modern Man to Half Light I still leaves me cold though.

Top right for me Dandy.

This album is very good. Blondie or not, Sprawl II is very good. Half Light II and Deep Blue would be my other favourites. Second best Arcade Fire album? YES I THINK SO.

ps - régine's voice is sexy.

There's lots of really good music on here, somewhere. I don't see the massive love that 'Sprawl II' is getting. 'Modern Man' is my favourite from the first few listens.
