Ukraine's song kinda grew on me tonight......I'm still not mad about the song. But her voice is very interesting...

Russia however went further down in my estimations......it got a :(/10 from me.

Just out of interest...does anyone know what the odds were after all the songs had been sung tonight? Are they in this thread somewhere?

Azerbaijan still favourites but Germany had narrowed them down...

I can't believe Azerbaijan remained favourites. I would've lengthened their odds substantially after the semi (even if they did end up coming second). Not surprised they didn't pose a threat tonight.

At the start of the voting i was sure denmark would win especially getting the 2 first 12 points, shame it didnt hold on, as i said the german song is ok but not something i would buy myself but i can see why it won and its appeal, personaly i would have prefered Turkey,Belgium or Denmark to have won and Romania would have been a good winner this year aswell, this is the first year ever i have loved a romanian entry.
Israel neve rusally give ireland many votes and i was expecting nothing form them tonight and they gave us 6 points which was greatly apprecaited but funnily enough back in 93 israel gave niamhs entry 5 points, looks like they prefered her 2nd attempt!

Ahh, I arrived back about an hour ago and a little bit inside of me died when I saw this thread had 57 pages

Anyway, my comments etc.

Azerbaijan - vocally improved from the semi, though she looked a bit of a twat doing her "drip drop, drip drop" routine. I think Beyonce's choreographer was having some fun at her expense there... 7/10

Spain - at the guy who ran on stage. I was like "Is he meant to be there? ... Maybe he's the 6th person?" I'm amazed at how easy it was for him to get up on stage and how long it took for the guards to come. This was a good performance though I thought 6.5/10

Norway - Poor start, good finish. The backing vocalists were amusing though, very much a "They're behind you!" moment 7.5/10

Moldova - I want that violin. Decent enough performance 8/10

Cyprus - Go on Welsh boy! :cheer: 7.5/10

Bosnia-Herzegovina - Bit MOR, though the ending is good. Fittest guy there though 6/10

Belgium - Great performance, loved the cute laugh he did. Felt very honest 8.5/10

Serbia - I had a Lego man that looked like him... 6.5/10

Belarus - The wings are hilarious. Quite liked the climax 7/10

Ireland - Big improvement on the semi final. Love her  8.5

Greece - I thought this was pretty great! The boots make me laugh though 7/10

United Kingdom - Just bizarre. Shockingly bad! 5.5/10

Georgia - The one song that has grown on me the most this past week. 7/10

Turkey - Way too much flashing! The camera work was weird too. Thank goodness the woman got out of her costume alright tonight! Really like this edit of the song 7.5/10

Albania - Just fabulous! The violinist probably lost her votes though. Love the nuns on backing vocals! :kink: 8/10

Iceland - Go Hera!! 10/10

Ukraine - Like Georgia, loving this one a lot more now 7/10

France - Kudos for the effort, not sure it translated as well as it could have done, but great stuff from France 7/10

Romania - Really liked their way of firing sparks at each other, and she has a great voice! The backing vocalists looked a bit bored though 7.5/10

Russia - 6/10

Armenia - Vast improvement on the semi final performance, too much happening on stage though and her hair was a mess 7/10

Germany - Fantastic performance, couldn't help but smile from the off 9/10

Portugal - Well it was OK 6/10

Israel - He overdid it, Croatia/Sweden should have been there instead tbh 5.5/10

Denmark - Was pretty epic 9/10

Voted for: Iceland x2 and Ireland because of her performance at the UK Preview Party.

Interval act was the best since Riverdance. What the hell they were doing in London though I don't know! at the granny who fell over her coffee table in whatever country it was.

The UK got 10 points more than it deserved tbf. Really bizarre voting for us, guess they like Pete Waterman songs in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Albania. Great winner though, hopefully I'll be able to go to Germany next year! :D

Has Chiara somehow managed to gain MORE weight?

^ Quote of the night

Marty Whelan (the irish commentator) actually said before the United Kingdom came on that it was musically 1983/1987 (not sure which) in this performance.

I would place it around 1989 - more Big Fun/Sonia.

Absolutely incredible results! <3

My full comments will come later

I love how basically all of the Lena haters turned into lovers in the space of the last couple of days by the way

5th listen syndrome! This wasn't the case for most of the European voters of course who will have heard the song pre-contest due to it being a ridiculously massive smash hit!

So we lost on penalties. I wrote a song for Eurovision but the BBC said is was too silly, and 'we might get humiliated' - as if

a good result i think, we cheered when belarus got points to leave us in last place. i am a patriot but ffs... that entry was the worst ever.

i liked greece, turkey, serbia, iceland and germany too... i like songs with a folky feel to them, sounds that are a mixture of pop and the countries own sounds...hence liking greece and serbia.

:w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: Lena won  Sooo happy, was expecting a Denmark or Azerbaijan victory, but Lena deserved it more  Hopefully a UK chart hit now!!!

Spain did pretty well..That song has been growing on me..Also Portugal. And I can see why people like Russia but it's not my cup of tea.

Greece can send the same song all over again and always finish top 8. They're the new Sweden who have totally lost it with Melodifestivalen (that's what you get when the MF is bigger than ESC). The problem with MF is that people have heard the songs many times before final which is not the case with Eurovision which is one night only for most viewers

The producers probably wanted Spain to perform again so that the invasion wasn't on the official DVD or recaps.

They better not cut it out of the DVD, I want to be able to see it over & over again :P I don't think they will, it would be too much effort for them.

I am certainly ordering the DVD from HMV as soon as I can. The song quality in the final was really good, the interval act was AMAZING, the presenters were quite good, we got points from Azerbaijan & Georgia (that must be the juries in work, surely), and it was all topped off with a fantastic winner. The other countries near the top were unexpected to me, but all really good.

I'll look into flights to Germany as soon as the host city is announced :kink: Anyone know where it's likely to be? Hannover, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt?

Comedy moment of the contest: The Georgian woman winking at us. In the semi, I was like "Did she just wink at us?", but because I was expecting it to happen in the final, I just burst out laughing. I'm sure it was a "Vote for me *wink*" kinda thing

So at least a possible six cities :drama: Maybe an Azerbaijan win would've been easier, I doubt it would've been anywhere but Baku :kink:
Nice that Lena won...but I have to say (and yes, ready for angry mob)...that her performance tonight was NOT as good as I expected...

Georgian winking wasn't LOL tbh, it was amazing  However the strange laughing sound that Tom Dice produced after the first chorus (i think?) was really LOL.
