June 1, 201015 yr I hope it's better than the last two albums - which had their moments but even Lifeblood was more consistently enjoyable that them. I know I'm probably in the minority there....although I despised Lifeblood when it was released it did grow on me and when you listen to it you never find yourself shouting at the stereo for the band to stop being a parody of themselves.
June 1, 201015 yr Whatever the album is like they're still a great live band so I hope Bournemouth (or, failing that, Southampton) tickets will still be available on Friday
June 1, 201015 yr Hopefully there'll be some American dates so I can see them when I move over there later this year.
June 2, 201015 yr I think they should release a best of like Blur did that features lots of album tracks - a double one. It would be amazing.
June 5, 201015 yr Whatever the album is like they're still a great live band so I hope Bournemouth (or, failing that, Southampton) tickets will still be available on Friday Got my ticket for Bournemouth :D
June 7, 201015 yr Yes a fantastic live band, there last 2 studio albums have been slightly disapointing but their previous catalogie of work makes up for them plus they come alive when plpaying live, il still buy this album though to see what it is like.
June 8, 201015 yr Author The last time I saw them the 'fans' really pissed me off and I no longer felt like I belonged there. Even if they were to play brighton this tour I'm not sure I would've bothered. Will definately look forward to the album though. They'll never reclaim past glories but most bands never get that high and they're still better than many out there now
June 8, 201015 yr I'm not sure I agree, Sev. I'm still a big fan and will be buying the album the day it comes out but they don't really use the intelligence that they claim to have when creating the music - like say Blur or Radiohead do. And while The Holy Bible beats the crap out of nearly every other album ever made they don't have that fierce desire to make something great that those bands still have. To listen to them they'd rather be selling units rather than creating great art. I haven't really enjoyed much since Lifeblood which took about 3 years to click. However I did listen to Know Your Enemy on Saturday and it's a great album swamped by bad sequencing and too many tracks. I digress - a once great band doing what many other great bands do and that is continue to make average albums well after their peak. As I said above - either a complete singles package or a comprehensive best of like Blur did would round things off nicely and then quit!
June 8, 201015 yr TBH Journal for Plague Lovers is way better than Lifeblood. Lifeblood I have never ever got into and I didn't even rate the singles that highly but with Journal the Manics seemed to rekindle just a touch of the fire they had when they made The Holy Bible. Maybe it was all to do with using Richie's lyrics that got them going but all this talk of the new album sounding like Queen is not filling me with hope.
June 8, 201015 yr Lifeblood is not great but miles better than Send Away the Tigers. The second half of Journal for Plague Lovers is good but the first half isn't in my opinion.
June 8, 201015 yr Author I find Lifeblood to be their worst and possibly the most ironically titled album ever. Nixon is the only track I really like and 1984 and Empty Souls are ok but not much else excites. Journal is certainly more of an artistic endeavour than a unit shifter and Tigers isn't that bad at all. It's like Everything Must Go's little sister
June 8, 201015 yr This is a glorious song! Amazing and far better than anything on Send Away the Tigers, in my opinion. Should have been the lead single l4E6L0KkCpA
July 2, 201014 yr What are the chances of the lead single being a hit? Some think they will never manage another hit.
July 12, 201014 yr Will they even be releasing singles from this album? They didn't release any singles from Journal for Plague Lovers (Well, Jackie Collins Existential Question Time was a "radio single", but...)
July 12, 201014 yr I'd say they will. One of the main thrusts of this campaign is to get them back on the radio and the best ways to do that is to release singles. Hoping for a 5th number 2 or 3rd number 1. Depends on how they release everything - might do a double disc pack plus mp3.

Ah yes, MSP have a track record of releasing on unfortunate dates and entering at number 2. Empty Souls was beaten to no.1 by Elvis in 2005 and Your Love Alone is Not Enough was beaten by Shakira and Beyonce in 2007
