THEY LOVE LOVATO

Jackson Sales Cool, But He Still Could be King of Pop Chart Next Week

July 22, 2009

Hollywood Records' newest diva could have herself a #1 album next week, though the King of Pop very much remains a factor.

Demi Lovato will have the week's top debut with her Here We Go Again album, with a total that should hit between 110-120k, but she could well lose out in the race for #1 on the HITS Album chart to Michael Jackson, whose Number Ones is currently seeing increased numbers at several accounts, thanks to a fresh round of physical product from Sony, part of the company's worldwide outlaw of 15.5 million albums. See, the old machine can crank up pretty good if there's a reason to.

19/Jive/JLG's Idol winner Jordin Sparks returns with her sophomore album, which should do betrween 45-50k, which should be good enough for a Top 10 debut.

Veteran Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace, on their own label through WMG's Independent Label Group, is looking at first-week sales between 10-15k

The market was down 7% vs. last week, down 9% vs. same week last year and still down 14% year-to-date.

Can another pop music superstar please drop dead suddenly? Pretty puhleeeze....

:/

Ergh

I'd rather not have seen that :(

How dare they call "Demi" a diva.

Ouch at that amount. Stupid tweens buying into the Disney clones.
Does nobody like my covers? :nocheer:

I love you covers haha. Particuarly the top one! Love that whole photoshoot with the red skirt!

Ouch at them sales indeed. That's very disappointing considering she's stuck it out at number 2 so far this week.

So do you think she has a good chance of going to number 1 in the US?

probably not due to that demi girl and jacko and daughtry remaining threats. Id say top 4.

and those sales ^ look pretty miserable

Awww thats SO $h!t...poor Jordin.....what do they expect though with such p*** poor promotion?? I hope she doesn't get dropped after this album as im just beginning to get into her :(

i doubt they'd drop her. it'll prob grow with the single releases and more performances. she needs a performance on the VMA's in September. PLUS they are predicting these sales from not even 2 full days of sales.

^HDD are nearly always very accurate... if they say 45-50k, it won't sell any more than 50k most likely.

Surely nobody expected more? Battlefield has flopped big-style in the US in comparison with her previous singles.

It hasn't flopped, its had a resurgence lately on radio, but the sales have been less than stellar thats for sure.

There's a couple tracks on the album I like but all in all its not something I would want to buy. I guess the public feel the same.

The real problem is that unlike her debut, there is no obvious big follow up like "No Air". I think SOS is the perfect follow up single, not because its any good though, just the title seems so fitting for the moment.

This album has hugely grown on me, aswell. Really great - can't wait to get a physical copy tomorrow!
I think it's going to grow and grow and grow. I went to my local asda at 4pm, 13 copies on the shelf, returned at 7:30pm and they'd all gone. Asked if they had anymore copies and they said they'd completely sold out....

Battlefield the single should sell about 25 - 30k+ with two versions charting at 12 and 30, and whatever the physical single sells. I think it is safe to say that the single will end up around with 200-250k, maybe even 300k in the UK.

Do you guys think the album will stay steady in the UK, maybe even outsell the debut?

How much did the debut sell in the UK?

Thursday Update:

Album #8

1408 copies to #4. Anything higher is another 1k ahead at least.

Single #12

159 copies to #11. 1609 to #10.

I don't actually understand how the album's doing so well in the UK :o maybe because of lack of other big new releases? a comeback top 20 single for a pop artist doesn't usually equate to a big top ten album! I expected top 40 for this album!
I tried to get it on tuesday from my local Morrisons and they had either not gotten any in or had completely sold out because there were none. I'm going out today though so I''ll probably buy it then :)
I've been into my HMV and both Tesco's and they have sold out. They need to get more copies out there.
I dont think the UK branch of Sony expected it to sell as well as it is so they probably didnt ship many copies out, maybe 10k. I guess more will be going out as we speak...plus if people wanna buy the album, they'll buy it, they wont jst coz they see it on the shelf.
Had Battlefield (the single) not been released instantly in the UK and had they waited a few weeks then the song would have gone top 10, as proved by how many weeks it has spent in the region of 11-15, technically its therefore been as sucsessful as a top 10 single which rather doesnt make the album hitting the top 10 that much of a suprise when you think about it.
