July 2, 201015 yr Netherlands. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: I didn't expect that, thought Brazil would have gone through. I love the underdog to win.
July 2, 201015 yr Heartbreak for Ghana....a missed penalty kick at the end of extra time, for an intentional handball at the goal line by Suarez proved to be, in part, their undoing.....then, not finishing off Uruguay in the penalty shootout......
July 2, 201015 yr Maradona about the Portugal - Spain match: "Baldassi (referee) was very very poor clearly benefiting Spain...but the linesman who validated Villa's goal is Andrea Bocelli. It was clearly offside...."
July 2, 201015 yr I really wanted Ghana to win, that deliberate handball was a stupid thing to do, to miss that penalty was so painful to watch. And than getting smashed in the penalty shoot out. I hope Holland can go all the way to the final now and put Uruguay out they don't deserve to be there after that win. It be interesting to see if Argentina and Paraguay don't get beaten tomorrow, but I expect Spain to go thru against Paraguay, as it could be an European final, Spain Vs Germany semi final will be torture to watch in the semis. I do think Holland now have a shoe in to the final, they probably play Spain or Argentina.
July 3, 201015 yr So Uruguay avoid being punished for a blatant act of cheating. They've been punished how Fifa think it should be. A red card for the culprit and a one match ban. You have to feel for Ghana but it's 12 yards out, hit the target....
July 3, 201015 yr I really wanted Ghana to win, that deliberate handball was a stupid thing to do I'd say it was a genius thing. He couldn't have done anything better, looking at it from Uruguay's perspective. If he hadn't used the hand they would be definitely going home now. I don't like it as well and would have liked Ghana to advance but you can't really blame it on Suarez now. I wonder if he makes it out of Africa alive, though.
July 3, 201015 yr Suarez stopped a certain goal and in the process gave Ghana a great chance to score one. They didn't take it. They then had equal chance of winning. They didn't take it. You can only blame Suarez so much, given that I'm sure most footballers would've done exactly the same if they were in the same position...
July 3, 201015 yr Hopefully Argentina & Spain can progress today, what a semi that would be! Then, hopefully, the Dutch take on Argentina or Spain.
July 3, 201015 yr Now we can't have Argentina vs Brazil the best potential final will be Holland vs Germany I think.
July 3, 201015 yr Germany vs. Spain and Germany vs. Holland wouldn't exactly be bad maches, either. :P If Germany really makes it, nobody can say it was undeserved because of a "lucky draw". England, Argentina, possibly Spain and Netherlands. :o Edited July 3, 201015 yr by zechhh
July 3, 201015 yr I like how John Pantsil has said that no Ghanaian would've displayed such blatent cheating. Is the the same John Pantsil that did this? vqubKdN46zg

You can only blame Suarez so much, given that I'm sure most footballers would've done exactly the same if they were in the same position... I desperately wanted Ghana to win but at the end of the day it was Ghana's inability to take penalties that cost them the match (I've never seen such dreadful penalty kicking - both the one awarded for the foul and the ones in the shoot-out.) I don't know why Suarez is coming under such fire for this - I'm sure if he'd done it against Germany, Holland, Brazil or one of the other big names - none of us would really give it more than a second thought other than it was just that - a delibertate foul in the penalty box. Its just that he did it against one of the underdog sides that people have taken to their hearts. Besides - surely if an object is headed in the general direction of your face (OK so there happens to be a football net behind you) it's just plain instinct to push it away. As I say - on the whole Ghana deserved to win in what was, for me, one of the more entertaining matches of the tournament so far. But it takes two teams to make an entertaining match and Uruguay deserve some credit. Besides ... of all the South American teams I actually like Uruguay and (although I can't see it happening) I'd have no objection to them going all the way. July 3, 201015 yr The match overall was quite dull actually, IMO. One of the worse of the tournament for me.. The first half was decent, especially when Ghana attacked in the last 20 minutes. But from the 1-1 until the 115th minute or so, it was really boring. The last 5 minutes and the penalties more than made up for this, though.

Me and my sister watched it with the sound off and music playing in the background so it was pretty good. Although I say it was one of the more entertaining matches of the tournament so far ... it isn't really saying much as I think the whole tournament has been a bit of a borefest. Mind you ... had England stayed in ... the boredom would have become even more intense! Norma
July 3, 201015 yr Another South American team could be going home tonight, :o if the score stays 1-0 to the Germans, I didn't see this coming, I can forsee a Spain/Germany vs. Holland final
July 3, 201015 yr :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: It's only 3-0 not five  So :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Argentina are going home :yahoo:
