June 13, 201015 yr Author Gavin Ryan Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Oh My Gosh, "OMG" (DL: 1 hold, Phys: 3 hold) by Usher has become the longest running No.1 this decade (admittedly we're only 1/20th of the way through the decade), by staying atop the ARIA Singles Chart for a sixth week, he is also now the longest running No.1 this year, beating Owl City's "Fireflies", and could possibly stay another week, unless Katy Perry or Kylie's new single decide to challenge him for the top spot. The longest ongoing challenge to his throne has been the now four weeks run at No.2 for B.o.B. and Hayley Williams with "Airplanes" (DL: 2 hold). Spending a third week at No.3 is Katy Perry's "California Gurls" (DL: 3 hold), but rising to a new peak of No.4 is Jason DeRulo's "Ridin' Solo" (DL: 4 hold), which pushes Yolanda Be Cool's "We No Speak Americano" (DL: 5 hold) down one place to No.5 this week. David Guetta's "Gettin' Over You" (DL: 9 to 6) jumps up three places to also score a new peak at No.6, which pushes last week's No.6 track to No.8, Ke$ha's "Your Love is My Drug" (DL: 7 to 8, Phys: 4 to 5). In between those two, Taio Cruz and "Break Your Heart" (DL: 6 to 7) stays steady at No.7. Two singles enter the Top 10 this week, with "Billionaire" (DL: 16 to 9) Travie McCoy halving last weeks position of No.18 to land at No.9, and scoring their first Top 10 single, plus the biggest jump within the Top 50 is local group Amy Meredith and their single "Lying" (DL: 36 to 13), which is up twenty-five places to No.10. NEW PEAKS: Enrique Iglesias scores another leap up the charts this week, as "I Like it" (DL: 32 to 15) is up eighteen places to No.14. 3OH!3 and Ke$ha move up a couple of places to land at No.19 with "My First Kiss" (DL: 20 to 19), and another week with another new peak for former UK No.1 single "This Ain't a Love Song" (DL: 23 to 21, Phys: 13 to 20) by Scouting for Girls, up five places to No.21. Also up five places are Paramore, to No.33, with "The Only Exception" (DL: 38 to 30), and leaping up twenty-six places to No.38 is the Pendulum remix of the "ABC News Theme" (DL: 38 debut), last week it was an oddity, this week it's a Top 40 hit!! Thirteen year old Gold Coast native Cody Simpson began recording songs in his bedroom when he was eleven, and posting them on YouTube, which led to a record deal with Atlantic Records at the age of twelve. Now his first single becomes the highest new entry of the week, "iYiYi" (DL: 24 debut), which features label-mate Flo Rida as guest vocalist. He has been compared to Justin Bieber, who also debuts this week with his new track, also a teaming. "Never Say Never" is the theme to the remake of 'The Karate Kid' starring Jaden Smith (Will's son), who is also guest rapper on Justin's single, and the tracks enters at No.45. Matthew Shafer, better known as Uncle Kracker, scored a No.1 single here in the last week of July, 2001 entitled "Follow Me". That was followed by "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" (HP-23, Sept 2001) and "In a Little While" (HP-88, Sept 2002). Now he scores a fourth ARIA Chart entry by debuting at No.36 with "Smile" (DL: 34 debut), which has been helped into the charts by being used as the music for the third season of Channel 7's 'Packed to the Rafters', which starts up again in July. The song reached No.43 in the US last August, and is taken from the album "Happy Hour". Below Top 50: Lady Antebellum look set to leap into the Top 50 next week, but this week their single "Need You Now" is up eight places to No.51. The biggest climbing overall single of the week is a Glee Cast track, their version of 1983's "Safety Dance" is up thirty-eight places to No.53. Cheryl Cole's "Fight for This Love" re-peaks at No.54, whilst Timbaland and Justin Timberlake are up eleven places to No.58 with "Carry Out". Three songs from the newly Top 10 album "Sex and the City 2" make an impact on the charts this week, firstly is Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down", which strides up twenty-one places to land at No.61. Beyonce's "Single Ladies" is up twenty-two places to No.63, and re-entering at No.82 is Ricki-Lee's "Can't Touch it". Kelly Rowland is working on her new album, due for a September release at the moment, and the first taste of that album debuts at No.64 entitled "Commander", it features David Guetta on the track, returning the favor she was given by David to appear on the former Top 5 dance anthem "When Love Takes Over" from last year. Another dance song, this time from local artist Sgt. Slick, debuts at No.69, called "Back on Black". This very week thirteen years ago (15-June-1998), he debuted with his first single "Black Treble, White Bass" (HP-69), and followed that up in August of 2001 with the No.95 track "Let it Ride"/"Forever Disco". Alexandra Burke makes her ARIA Top 100 Singles debut this week with her fourth single "All Night Long" (Phys: 9 debut), featuring Pitbull as guest vocalist. Alexandra did chart earlier this year with "Bad Boys", but that was only on the physical chart where it made No.11 (Jan 2010). She performed "All Night Long" on Hey Hey recently, and the track reached No.4 in the UK and No.1 in Ireland. Featured as a bonus track on the Platinum Edition of Beyonce's "I Am. Sacha Fierce" album, is the track "Why Don't You Love Me", which this week debuts at No.73. Sri Lankan Tamil born, English raised rapper M.I.A. debuts with her second ARIA Chart entry, "XXXO", which lands at No.74. Her first single "Paper Planes" hit No.66 in January 2009. Two rock acts debut this week, firstly though is Train and the second single from their "Save Me, San Francisco" (No.62 this week) called "If It's Love", which enters at No.76. Gyroscope also score a second chart entry from their latest album "Cohesion" entitled "Baby, I'm Gettin' Better", which debuts at No.96. Glee Report: "Jessie's Girl" falls out of the Top 10 after a week at No.8, this week falling to No.16, but newer tracks are climbing, with the above mentioned "Safety Dance" being the biggest climber of the week, up to No.53. Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, How I Met Your Mother) guest starred on the show two weeks ago, and his duet on the Aerosmith track "Dream On" debuts at No.91 this week. Also entering for the Glee Gang is their version of Lady GaGa's "Poker Face", coming in at No.97. This has also helped keep the original GaGa version of "Poker Face" in the Top 100 for it's 90th week, a milestone for the ARIA Charts. Albums Of the six albums that Jack Johnson has released, this week he scores his fourth No.1 album on the ARIA Charts, as "To the Sea" is the first of three new entries to the top of the charts. In March 2005 he spent four consecutive weeks at No.1 with "In Between Dreams", then his music for the soundtrack "Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies: Songs from the film 'Curious George'" spent a week at the top in February of 2006. From mid February to late March he spent six broken weeks at the top with "Sleep Through the Static", and this week he lands his fourth No.1 debut (all the three previous have entered straight at No.1). "To the Sea" is the 614th No.1 album in Australia (1965-2010), and only the second album with a "Sea" in it's title, the other being The John Butler Trio's "Sunrise Over Sea" (March, 2004), whilst it's only the third album with a 'to the' in it, previously there was Coldplay's "A Rush of Cold Blood to the Head" (Sept 2002) and The Cranberries with "To The Faithful Departed" (May, 1996). "To the Sea" is the 221st album by an American Artist to hit No.1, and also the 172nd by a Male Solo Artist. It also takes Jack Johnson's No.1 tally of week at the top to a total of twelve weeks. The third Twilight film entitled "Eclipse" sees it's soundtrack mirror the previous two soundtracks by reaching No.2. The first soundtrack took twenty-four weeks to reach it's peak (helped by the DVD release in May 2009), but the "New Moon" set landed straight in at No.2 in November of 2009. Now the fang-gang land a third No.2 album as "Eclipse" debuts behind the too strong Jack Johnson. Christina Aguilera's fourth studio album debuts at No.3 entitled "Bionic", making it her second best placed album of her career. 2006's "Back to Basics" landed at No.1 in its first week in August, and she followed that up with her first Greatest Hits collection in November of 2008, "Keeps Gettin' Better" (No.51 this week). The lead single from the new album is "Not Myself Tonight" (No.34 this week), which has peaked at No.22. Christina Aguilera Album history: Entry Date|HP|WI|Titles 24-Jan-00|21|53a|Christina Aguilera (37 weeks to peak) 04-Nov-02|07|90a|Stripped (49 weeks to peak) 21-Aug-06|01|63| Back to Basics (1st week peak) 17-Nov-08|08|22*| Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits (1st week peak) So with three new entries to the top of the charts, it pushes last week's No.1 for the Glee's down to No.4. Justin Bieber is down two spots to No.5 with "My Worlds", and k.d. Lang's "Recollection" is down one place to No.6. Usher's "Raymond V Raymond" tumbles down six places to land at No.8, and Lady GaGa's "The Fame Monster" is down two places to No.9. The "Sex and the City 2" Soundtrack is up six places to No.7 in it's second week on the charts, the first soundtrack was at No.8 in it's second week charting. And Jason DeRulo's self-titled album leaps back into the Top 10 at No.9, up from No.18. The seventh album for local Blues artist Ash Grunwald becomes his highest charting album here. "Hot Mama Vibes" debuts at No.31, beating the No.43 peak of his September 2008 set "Fish Out of Water".
