Posted July 10, 200620 yr What are the best song lyrics of the past 13 years? The answer came from more than 5,000 music fans who voted in a lyrics poll by Billboard and USA WEEKEND at Billboard.com. Although all the lyrics of the songs listed below translated into hits, it was no surprise that the most votes, 33%, went to Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together." Carey knows how to create lyrical magic by writing incredible songs that really speak to the masses. The proof: "We Belong Together" was the "Hot 100 Song of the Year" at "Billboard's 2005 Music Awards," and it was far and away the biggest hit of last year. Was this what you saw Kel? :P
July 10, 200620 yr Author Indeed, one of my favourite songs of last year spending 5 weeks at #1 on my chart  Whatever happened to the Kelly chart btw :o And I <3 those lyrics so much, they are great. Still prefer 'Its Like That' overall though :P

July 11, 200620 yr Author Yes :o By a long way too, ILT = my jam. Spent like 6 wks at #1 on my chart <3333 I hope the Kelly chart makes a revival one day  :cheer:
July 11, 200620 yr I've been thinking about a revival for ages now, but I used to post it every Sunday and i've never got time, and I see it more as a chore than something I enjoy doing, so I dunno if I told everyone what I liked and they did it for me I would do one. Oh and for me ILT has NOTHING on WBT.
July 11, 200620 yr Oh and for me ILT has NOTHING on WBT. I'm the same. Though they were both #1 hits on my chart along with 'Don't Forget About Us'. And 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak'. And 'I Know What You Want', 'Loverboy', 'Heartbreaker', 'My All', 'One Sweet Day' and 'Without You'.

July 11, 200620 yr Author I find it easy doing it, sit down each week and spend 1/2 an hour on it. Don't always type it up and post it though. They are love. <33 ILT that rules, Shake It Off was her poorest release imo, just didnt GET IT. :(
July 12, 200620 yr Yeh It's Like That rules, Say Somethin was the poorest release though imo... this is what order I'd put the singles from TEOM in: 1. WBT 2. ILT 3. DFAU 4. GYN 5. SIO 6. SS
July 12, 200620 yr Brilliant news for Mariah! :cheer: This song has more of an impact for me than any other from TEOM. :)
July 12, 200620 yr I wish I had the patience to do a chart. :( I do it every fortnight or less often if nothing's out. I don't bother posting it - spending time doing fonts and the link - I just do it on excel and then save them. I've been doing them since I was 9 so it's a mixture of fun and habit. I stopped for a few weeks when I was 13 and have regretted it ever since. There are missing charts now!!!
July 19, 200620 yr Back on topic - is rhyming 'cryin" with 'tryin" really worthy of such an award? Or did these voters really appreciate with the Bobby Womack references? The mind boggles. 'Get Your Number' has much better lyrics. It makes me want to invest in both a nice car and a jacuzzi. Or at least a bottle of Matey so I can fake 'a sick hot-tub'.
July 20, 200620 yr As much as I love the song I seriously wouldn't say it has the best lyrics of the past 13 years  Good on Mariah for winning though <3
July 20, 200620 yr Well I often argue that you only feel you understand or relate to a song or lyrics if you have been through the experience yourself. My music taste changes to reflect my mood - I havent listened to Mariah in weeks I'm all over rock songs atm
