June 18, 201016 yr The RAF Squadronaires album, "The Glenn Miller Songbook," features 14 new recordings of Glenn Miller classics (In The Mood, Pennsylvania 6-5000, Little Brown Jug, etc.). This is their 70th anniversary, and I read that they have been doing a number of public events to celebrate. The album is wonderful. The songs are faithful to the original arrangements, and they sound spectacular because they were just recorded (the sound quality is so good that these songs are replacing the Boston Pops Orchestra versions of Glenn Miller's hits currently on my iPod!). Stacey Solomon (from last year's X-Factor) sings vocals on "At Last" and does a great job. And "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree" features the original Andrews Sisters vocals (like the Natalie/Nat "Unforgettable"). All in all, it's a great album that is very worthy of a Top 5 position. It debuted at #9 two weeks ago, then rose to #7 last week, so seeing it rise again this week is nice (Decca Records must be thrilled). The album is called "In The Mood - The Glenn Miller Celebration"
June 18, 201016 yr It is as though the Over 50's are buying alot of albums, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, The Who.Hope Alex and B.O.B will go back Top 20 next week.Is Keri still Top 40.Thanks
June 18, 201016 yr Looks like christina won't be top 20 come sunday. Would this be the biggest fall from no1 album ever? Oh and i know this has been mentioned before but i never saw a reply so sorry if i am going over something again. Edited June 18, 201016 yr by andyboiuk
June 18, 201016 yr Thanks Bray, I corrected the post. That's what I get for posting at work and copying the title Amazon UK gives the album (instead of actually looking at the CD cover on the website!).

June 18, 201016 yr If it falls lower than #18 then it actually will be. This is correct. There will no longer be a need for 2 separate records - one for genuine drops and one for 'technicality' drops (the former is Ellie, the latter George due to the postal strike) - if Bionic ends this week at #19 or lower. That is unless you count some random Now! compilation (can't remember which one) which dropped straight out from #1 due to the compilation chart being born while it was still at #1, but I'd say that definitely doesn't count.
June 18, 201016 yr looks like Rihanna's gonna spend a third week at #18 :manson: shame Rated R has fallen out of the Top 40 :( and super big drop for XTina :o
June 18, 201016 yr oh Xtina, just a little bit of UK promo and maybe someone other than Diehards and chart fanatics would have bought this after the 1st day. Its not bad either, though i now almost WANT her to set this record (at least it's one for Bionic, )Â When's Kylie climbing to 3 ffs! If only the 3 format physical was out! lets hope it helps later :)
June 18, 201016 yr If Christina falls from 1 to outside the Top 20, it will be the biggest Album drop from No.1 ever. (No.1 to No.19, would do that, in fact). It will also be a bigger drop than any No.1 in the Singles Chart - nothing has dropped lower than 1 to 20 - so far - in the Singles Chart. In 1973, the 'That'll Be The Day' Soundtrack, was removed from the Album Chart - from No.1. It was on its 7th No.1 Week, in the W/E 11th August Chart, & was gone from the entire Chart, in the W/E 18th August Chart. But, it was still Selling - the Chart Compilers, simply decided that it no longer qualified to be in the Chart. Its entire Chart Run was:, W/E 23rd June 1973 - 2 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - OUT The Christina Album has dropped because it has had a huge fall in Sales..... June 19, 201016 yr Im shocked christina has dropped so much, i never thought it would do hugely well but i never expected this drop this week.
June 19, 201016 yr Thanks Bray, I corrected the post. That's what I get for posting at work and copying the title Amazon UK gives the album (instead of actually looking at the CD cover on the website!). The title was changed. It was originally "Songbook" but changed to "Celebration" late on

June 19, 201016 yr Friday Update Top 40 Only Albums Christina Aguilera 10+8 :o MASSIVE OUCH :o Just noticed this. What's the biggest fall from no. 1 for an album in the UK? Does Christina look set to have the biggest drop from no. 1 ever in the UK album chart? :o EDIT: Found the answer above. :P Edited June 19, 201016 yr by Hitstastic
June 19, 201016 yr In fact the current UK album chart reminds me of the shocking state of the UK singles back in early 2005 thanks mainly to the then low sales and all the limited edition Elvis reissued going top 5 then plummeting downwards from the second week in the chart. Who'd have thought when album sales were so strong in 2006 that 4 years later album sales would be absolutely shocking? This is what cherry picking has done to the album chart.
June 19, 201016 yr Author This week's album sales should be pretty high, if Oasis started on Tues mids with 20k plus, I reckon they will finish off around 60-65k as it would have trailed off by the end of the week.
June 19, 201016 yr I've been away for a while hence why I'm so late posting this, but for a brief time yesterday Example posted some Friday midweek sales on his facebook. From memory: Dizzee 62k, Knaan 51k, Example 41k, Kylie 37k, Tinie Tempah 32k
