How can people on here criticise California Gurls but totally bum Commander? :huh: I heard Commander today for the second time and it's just a piece of noise! I like Kelly but it just seems to be:

 

Dance track + underrated female singer + David Guetta = BJ love.

 

California Gurls might be similar to Tik Tok musically but the lyrics are FAR better and Katy was the original "unconventional popstar". ^_^

I hope hope hope that since now that another boring sample at #1 is going to get out of the top-10 quickly.

Agreed. I'm really struggling to get into Commander, it leaves me quite cold :( I can see that its catchy and I love Kelly, but I prefer almost all of her other singles. It's rather standard radio-dance-smash-by-numbers really and compared to the euphoric When Love Takes Over with its great piano hook, Commander is b-side material in my opinion.

 

Each to their own though, I absolutely LOVE both All The Lovers and California Gurls and both have their lovers and haters alike on BuzzJack :heehee:

Agreed with Jack and gooddelta. I love Kelly so very much but Commander isn't anything special. It's let down a bit by the production and Kelly always sounds better on warmer songs anyway, hence why I prefer On & On and Shake Them Haters Off from the new album.

Actually there were several writers for California Gurls - Katy being one of them. She was the only person who wrote the lyrically genius Thinking Of You so it's evident that the best lyrics in CG are from Katy. ^_^

That's a straight out lie and you know it. CG's lyrics are dreadful.

 

Commander is crap also. I can see why pop music has died, it's all utter $h!te these days ¬_¬ (exception being Fire With Fire which I love and hope it does well ;o)

I don't mind 'commander' that much tbh. I'm not a fan of kelly rowland at all though.

anyways, good to see diana floating up the top 200 a month before the release :D once radio 1 playlist it, that should lock on top 40 at least.
