I think bittersweet did deserve to flop personally, i used to really like SEB and i actually have a few of her tracks on my ipod but i thought bittersweet was a very poor song.

I also agree that mika's last album effort was pretty poor and deserved to flop. His first album was very good though, particularly No happy ending.

Also, Editors' record company are guilty of seriously screwing up the release of "Papillon" - the video came out too late and then it was released on the SAME DAY as the album. It still managed to get to #23 but should have been 20 places higher the week before.

Was it really that popular?

Because the album wasn't... although went to no. 1 but is yet to reach 100k as far as I know.

Great song and album.

I actually think half the songs mentioned in here deserved to flop

Natalie Imbruglia - Want Seriously  it goes nowhere theres nothing to it

Gabriella Cilmi - Hearts Don't Lie The Moto Blanco radio edit makes it good tbh but the single version is nothing special

Mika We Are Golden doesn't really make sense and his new tracks just aren't good

Obviously all just my opinion here

Songs that should have been bigger imo

Katie Melua - The Flood

Mini Viva - I Wish

VV Brown - Shark In The Water

Sophie EB - Bittersweet but the Freemasons version

Most of aaaaall

Beverley Knight Beautiful Night  its a perfect summer track and it bombed awfully :(

A big expert on flops with a Sugabitches signature... lol

To be fair, Gabriella Cilmi's Hearts Dont Lie makes Wear My Kiss look a huge success.

And it's only Sugababes album that did terribly, all singles sold over 100k.

TV Rock - In The Air (Axwell Remix) - One of the best dance records of the year, but failed to reach the Top 40

Basement Jaxx - Raindrops - Great comback single, but sadly only got to Number 22, although it did come out the week MJ passed away which didn't help it.

Shinedown - Second Chance - Superb modern day rock track, failed to make Top 40, but missed the Top 40 for the same reasons as BJ did.

Gorillaz - Superfast Jellyfish and Stylo :o Both are taken from mjy favourite album of they year so far, but flopped after the record company screwed up the releases for both of them.

Will.i.am - One More Chance

Fergie - Clumsy

The Killers - A Dustland Fairytale

N.E.R.D - Sooner or Later

I reckon all these could have been pretty big, with more promotion

Shakira - Gypsy

Lena-Mayer-Landrut - Satellite -- best Eurovision song in years

Adam Lambert - Whataya Want From Me

Amy MacDonald - Don't Tell Me That It's Over

Pink - Bad Influence

Adam Lambert's Whataya Want From Me wasn't released yet, so too early to judge if it's a flop or not.

Pink - Bad Influence wasn't even released as a single.

Flop

Aqua - Back To The 80's - Only remember seeing this promoted on gmtv and that was it

Danielle Hope - Over The Rainbow - Considering it had the following of the bbc1 show what happened and only promo again was gmtv

Future Flop

Vengaboys - Rocket To Uranus - No promo scheduled in the UK (Atm) on their website and some weird tour dates in October In Birmingham Glasgow And Newcastle

-DJ- Alphabeat If Alphabeat were an 80's new wave band, they would've been more succesful than Duran Duran, the Human League or Erasure put together.

Er...no. LOON ALERT.

Alphabeat have made a few good pop songs. Let's not go straight ahead and label them classics of the genre yeah?

Bananarama - Love Don't Live Here: I expected this to chart low, but its #114 peak was crap. I found this song miles better than Love Comes, the lead single (which only peaked at #44), and they actually promoted it quite a lot on TV, even if radio airplay was nonexistent. Such a nice pop song.

Girls Can't Catch - Keep Your Head Up: This was one of the top tunes of 2009 for me. Never understood why it charted so low (#26). In fact, "Echo" charting higher was even more surprising, although I love this group.

Kleerup featuring Titiyo - Longing For Lullabies: Brilliant tune, although perhaps its similarity with With Every Heartbeat killed its chances.

And in a few weeks you can add:

The Pipettes - Call Me: Pull Shapes was a classic, and I haven't liked much the new lineup change, but this song is quite good and deserves to be a hit. it won't even crack the top 100 though, unfortunately.

It's not that surprising really, 'Keep Your Head Up' got no radio support. 'Echo' barely outpeaking it was the surprising thing, not only did that have the heavy radio support the former didn't, but it had pretty much blanket exposure and was everywhere.

Thanks for clarifying that, now I understand the reason why. Both singles should have been bigger hits, I guess the UK public is getting tired of the girl band format.

Xtina Aguilera not myself tonight flopped really badly in the US it went number 23 then 49 so that counts don't it.

totally agree with your list.

Sadly Goldfrapp will likely never get a top 40 hit again. The radio won't play their songs(Alison said Radio 1 told her record company she was too old). I didn't like "Rocket" but "Believer" and "Alive" were brilliant . They didn't reach the top 200 . The only hope Goldfrapp have is if they move on with the times, which I know they won't do.

I wish "The Writer" and "Guns And Horses" by Ellie Goulding had done better. They were both top thirty hits and sold over 50k, but still, they are both fantastic songs, and I have listened to "Guns And Horses" 100 odd times on my ipod. They deserved so much better. "Under The Sheets" completely flopped.

"Walking On A Dream" by Empire Of the Sun got top 75 I think, but it is a great song which I have also listened to over one hundred times.

"Dog Days Are Over" by Florence should have went top twenty at least, although it had good sales. "Cosmic Love","Drumming Song", and "Kiss With A Fist" were great too and should have been top five at least. They didn't even make the top 40.

Marina's "I Am Not A Robot" and "Oh No" should have been top ten. They are great songs.

Palo Nutini's "Coming Up Easy" should have done better too. It didn't make top 40.

The Scripts "Nothing" didn't get top 40 because of bad timing. It was very popular at school(I heard it every 5 minutes), so I can not understand why it didn't do well.

Diana Vickers "The Boy Who Murdered Love" and "My Wicked Heart" should have been top ten at least. "Once" should have sold 4x what it did at least. It is one of my favourite songs of all time

The Kelly Clarkson flops were decent songs and should have done better.

It is a travesty "The Flood" by Cheryl Cole did not get to number 1. It is one of my favourite songs of al time. And I am not a Cheryl fan.

Also, "Missing You" and "Your Song" failing to make number 1 was painful to watch. :nocheer:

Now, if I am ever a contestant on the X Factor.....
