LADY GAGA - You And I: 10.781 (+ 1.046) :D

She's beautiful in this way

'Coz cod makes no mistakes

She's on the right tank, baby

She was born this way

Having said that, how can you sh*g a mermaid?

Makes absolutely no sense at all! I love it! Haha! And also JUDAS is AMAZING and no where near weak!

Judas was a STUNNING video, but not the greatest song. Then again it was #1 for three weeks on my personal chart so it can't have been that bad :kink:

Anyway I agree that this video makes no sense, and that's the kind of Gaga video I love

It's her best video this era, I'd have been happy enough for 'The Edge Of Glory' to have a video of this quality but I somehow think the days of her making 'amazing' videos are long behind her. :(

It's more clear than ever that the song is a HUGE step backwards for her, despite being different to all her other singles. I don't mind the song, but it is extremely tacky and given the choice she had on the album it is disappointing.

Well the song is definitely benefiting from the video as its #30 on itunes now, i'm really curious to see where this ends up peaking on the hot 100 in the end.

Such a flawless video.

I'm thinking the mermaid represents her childish antics (as mermaids are usually linked with childhood/fairytales). Perhaps she was a young, free, wild thing before she met him. And the scene with him humping her suggests the loss of her innocence.

Regardless, I love the video. Am impressed Gaga!

OMG i nearly weed myself from laughing so hard at that Shania/Lady Gaga picture
This is how I see it; GaGa is making her way back to her Nebraska guy (Lüc Carl) and has to leave her childhood behind her in the process, and ends up stopping at a crossroads, unsure of whether to go on. We also see 19 year old Stefani (GaGa with the black hair) becoming the artist and person GaGa feels she is today (the mermaid representing herself as something special/magical) through the help of Frankenstein Luc (played here by a total hunk); GaGa has stated the obvious recently, that he has been her muse for her whole career, Born This Way is dedicated to him, and it just represents that omnipresent influence on her progression visually. The GaGa and Jo scenes demonstrates her ability to love herself, and as I see it, embracing her italian ancestry aswell (something else that she feels is a huge part of her). The video ends with GaGa choosing to/feeling ready to go ahead with the relationship as she starts running down the road; her getting married to the hunk showing her ultimate fantasy (being together with Luc). Personally, my favourite video of the era, and I loved Born This Way and Judas.

GaGa talks about the 'You And I' video concept in this MTV interview:

I made myself very clear on this song and in past posts but WHAT A VIDEO and WHAT A VIDEO TO MAKE YOU CHANGE UR MIND ON A SONG.

EXCELLENT EXCELLENCE

Tbh, I went to the UK + US iTunes for it and then realized the release date that it was a joke...
