BTW I'd like to change my vote for the 'new points system' to against it, because i didn't think at first that it will indeed mean that i would have to at least like the half of the contest in the final which is frankly impossible.

I'm not bothered which format, I actually voted for a return to semis just because I voted for the other one last month and I am literally 50/50 on this issue :o

 

Keep the new points system definitely though, has made for much more interesting results in my opinion.

Easily enough. Something like 18, 15, 13, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 - still voting for 10 songs but the top three/four get much more support.

Hmmm. I'm not fussed either way. But if I'm honest I slightly prefer Semi's as it breaks it up nicely. These past two contests have felt like they lasted forever :lol: The semi's also add excitement. Having said that, more people seem to be taking risks with the big final, so I really don't know :(

 

In the end I went for Semi's & New Points system.

One big final - because, even though there's a sense of accomplishment from making it through the semis, it can be pretty awful when you DNQ multiple times in a row :P Take it from me.

 

But yeah, I prefer the old points system if the semis were to return.

18 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 2 1 would be better though. The margin between 1st and second is the biggest and and between the last 3 - the smallest! The advantages of being the fan favourite/collecting big pointers :D

I like the security on the big final, and I like the fact that no-one DNQs. But it's not workable for me overall.

I miss Semi Final's but I have learned to like one big final :P

I want to keep my 100% qualification record, and I actually like being able to listen to all 49 songs over 2 weeks and pick out a top 15.

But if we do go back to the semi-finals, I want to keep the new points system, or at least the bigger points for top 3

Yeah, I'm actually warming to this idea more seeing that i usually send fan faves :kink: Just imagine - you receive one big fan vote and somebody else - three 5 pointers! Who do you think has more points?! :kink:

Actually it wouldn't matter much if we'd used the new or old system because the trick of the transfering 18 into 12's in the last 2 contests was that we got rid of the 5 countries of each votes. Hence if a song got 5 points from all the countries (which is about 250 points overall you might gather) you will be NULL after changing the system LOL it'd be hilarious!

The contest just gone my entry finished 18th (it would've been a few places higher if 12-1 points system was used). Either way, it was definitely one of the top 20 most popular songs in the contest.

 

I have just used random.org to split the 48 countries into two semi's. I have bolded all countries that voted Utopia and put how many points they gave in brackets.

I would never have qualified despite deserving to be in the final. Surely instances like these are what we should be trying to avoid! NO SEMIS!!!!

Semi finals would make life a lot easier, and keep the old score system 12, 10 etc

 

As I just lost interest in the comp, I just can't be bothered with a one big final. I was thinking of opting out.

I wasn't taking part when that system was in place, so I am intrigued by it and think I might prefer listening to and comparing a smaller collection of songs to about 50.
