Eurovision wouldn't post negative things about their artists

Can anyone find accommodation in Dusseldorf over ESC week for less then £200 a night? If you can, can you point the website in my direction!?!

I was looking at prices just in case I could find some way to go but all of the hostels are full already and the cheapest hotel is charging £200 a night. Guess I won't be going there then...roll on ESC 2012 in the UK :w00t:

There is one on expedia which is charging £101 a night for the cheapest room (& not including breakfast), but it's about half an hour from the arena :(

Thanks for looking :D Still far above what I'd consider paying, especially considering it's so far out from Dusseldorf itself. I probably won't be free anyway, I think I've got an exam either on the day before ESC or on the Monday after, but I thought I'd check anyway. The motto to the story is that there are a TON of ESC loons who book their hotels well in advance, so get in there quick in future!

Come on Lena, win again in 2011 so I can go in 2012 when I won't have any course or exams to worry about :w00t:

Have you looked at hostels? I know it's a bit basic but the ones in Europe are usually quite good (and they can offer single rooms). I can sympathise with you about the exams! Mine start on the second semi final :(

I hope France win - I'll be living there next year! :kink:

Really? :o Details!

Yep, all completely full :drama:

Quite often the EBU book up the hotels just after a venue is announced, so they can work out how much space will be needed for the performers etc, and then free up space later. So there should be more, cheaper hotels available in the new year. Failing that I know some people who are staying in Cologne which is about half an hour away from the city by train, but I wouldn't want to do that...

Didn't know that!

It would be a bit awkward to say the least trying to get back to Cologne after the contest I'm sure

Yeah, it's the sort of thing only hardcore Eurovision fans know. And I don't mean hardcore like me and you, I mean people that travel around Europe going to all the national finals and actually go to the contest every year... I hang out with these people  So I'e got my fingers crossed I can find something in January, my BF doesn't want to go anymore (he said he would if it was in Berlin) but I'm sure I can find someone else to share a twin room with

Fair point, Dusseldorf isn't probably as great as Berlin. I can't say I've ever come across any of these people myself, let alone hung out with them, I thought I took the obsession far enough but that's insane, and god knows how much money they must spend!

They're remarkably easy to find in London... It does say a lot that I only know one of them that has a partner...
If i could 1] afford to go and 2] had no exams, i would stay well outside of the city. Possibly in Monchengladbach, or even further out in Wegberg where i was born.

Jon Ola Sand has been appointed the new executive supervisor. For what I can tell, he is Norwegian, he was the executive producer for the 2010 contest, and he has a lot of experience working on different stuff. He was also head of the Norwegian delegation for a time.
